Czech Golden Helmet 2008

Recommended Posts

Looking at the dates on "Speedway A-Z" (http://www.speedwaya-z.cz/view.php?cisloclanku=2007102301), The 2008 World Under 21 Final is currently penned in for Sunday 5th October...

I am guessing the meeting will be brought forward 24 hours to Saturday 4th October, with the 60th Golden Helmet taking place on the Sunday itself

EDIT -

On Second Thoughts, I see the weekend panning out like this :

Friday 3rd October - Czech Gold Band (Junior Helmet)

Saturday 4th Oct - 60th Czech Golden Helmet

Sunday 5th Oct - World Under 21 Final

The above schedule would allow the top riders to compete in both the Golden Helmet and the Polish League Play-Offs on the Sunday...

Also strange that the German U21 Final is planned for Oct 5th.Surely they must be hoping for one or two qualifiers through to the World Final

Jeffster, didn't they run the Team Final, plus the Zlata Stuha on the same day the other year.Maybe they will do the same with the Individual Final?

Won't work. Juniors also ride in Polish league.

Tommy,

I guess it all depends on whether Jawa / The Pardubice Club would rather have the likes of Adams, Crump, Andersen missing from a Sunday staging of the Golden Helmet, as per this year, especially as it will be the 60th anniversary of the meeting next year.

Doubtless, the full confirmed schedule will be released in the fullness of time, but at least we know which weekend the meetings will be staged on…

Wouldn't it be(maybe) wiser to move the whole thing two weeks later? The scheduling of the German GP caused problems this year forcing the weekend one week earlier and looks like it might do the same next.

Holding the World Junior Final in the morning and then the Golden Band in the afternoon could solve a problem. But to hold the Golden Band before the Junior Final might bring howls of protest from riders who are not in the earlier event.Saying others are getting an advantage

But if the whole Pardubice event includes the Junior Final, wouldn't the Polish league just take that Sunday off? After all, they took the Sunday off this year to accommodate the Junior Final.

Exactly Subedei! Thanks to the U-21 final, there won't be any problem with the "Zlata prilba" line-up!

Can I be the first to say, then, that Filip Sitera will wake up on 6th. October 2008 as the World Under 21 champ..??

No - after waking up he just won't be the U-21 champ :P

But wouldn't the calendar for next year cause problems for the Ekstraliga then?

It would mean no meetings on 14th Sept(GP Challenge),21st Sept(U21 Team World Final) and then also 5th Oct.

  • 2 weeks later...

The only date confirmed is the 2008 World Under 21 Final, by the FIM...

As the World Under 21 Final is to be staged at Pardubice as part of the 60th Golden Helmet celebrations, unless there are any sudden drastic changes, that also gives a very large clue to the dates of the Golden Helmet weekend ;)

Are there confirmed dates yet ?
