brewer Posted October 21, 2007 Report Share Posted October 21, 2007 (edited) taken from rye site Update 16/10/2007 : The Latest Official News from Rye House Speedway The Final night of Speedway for 2007 at Rye House Stadium, Hoddesdon will see the staging of the traditional Ace of Herts Championship once again generously sponsored by Sainsbury’s Staff Association. The 18 heats or racing will be followed by a gigantic 20 minutes firework show to round off proceedings and as a bonus to Rockets’ fans all children will be admitted free of charge. An exciting field of riders line up to do battle. They are: Edward Kennett (Poole) Tai Woffinden (Rye House) Daniel King (Peterborough) Adam Roynon (Rye House) Chris Neath (Rye House) Leigh Lanham (Lakeside Arena Essex) Luke Bowen (Rye House) Steve Boxall (Rye House) Lewis Bridger (Eastbourne) Robert Mear (Rye House) Stefan Ekberg (Rye House) Tommy Allen (Rye House) While the Elite league riders, Lanham, King, Kennett and Bridger may start as meeting favourites, the home form of the Rockets means that none of them will find an easy path into the Grand Finale last race from which the meeting winner will emerge. The Mr Rocket and Mr Raider awards, voted by the public will take place after the meeting in the Long Bar during the End of Season Disco Party, free for all fans. Have we started 2008 already and this is the price? I’m not interested in fireworks and don’t drink. Also at the "play-off" on Saturday there were no concessions! Kindly sponsored once again by the Sainsbury’s Staff Association, the event will see a 12 rider field compete for the title over 18 heats. It’s the final opportunity to see the new Premier League Champions in action, with a number of Elite League stars – in the shape of double British U-21 Champion Edward Kennett, fellow World U-21 Finalist Lewis Bridger, Danny King and Leigh Lanham - thrown in for good measure. The full line-up in riding order, is: 1. Danny Betson, 2. Adam Roynon, 3. Leigh Lanham, 4. Edward Kennett, 5. Robert Mear, 6. Chris Neath, 7. Luke Bowen, 8. Daniel King, 9. Tai Woffinden, 10. Tommy Allen, 11. Lewis Bridger, 12. Steve Boxall. Reserves: Danny Halsey, Karlis. In addition to the racing, there will be a gigantic 20 minute firework display to round off the season – and then it’s all adjourn to the Long Bar for a party, disco and the presentation of the “Mr Rocket” and “Mr Raider” awards, with everyone invited.
