Broadford 6th October

At long last season 2007/08 has started for us Mexicans. Numbers a bit down in the solos due to some riders still being in the UK but never mind, those that were there put on a good show anyway. Some terrific racing with Tyron Proctor having a super battle with Jake Anderson in an early heat with Anderson taking the honours in a determined ride, then in a later heat recently turned 16 year old Beau Evans caught and passed Anderson round the outside in an impressive performance to record his first win in senior ranks. Fellow newcomer to senior ranks Dakota North showed the benefit of riding in the UK and he recorded his first win on home soil on a 500 machine. After his first outing Proctor was in no mood to lower his colours again and was very quick after that. So quick that the announcer thought he had broken the track record, turns out it wasn't quite a new mark and the announcer had got it wrong.  (Note to self, must not shoot mouth off again like that).

Solos

Tyron Proctor 2,3,3,3 = 11

Jake Anderson 3,2,2,2 = 9

Beau Evans 1,2,2,3 = 8

Dakota North 1,3,1,1 = 6

Mitch Goodwin 0,1,0,1 = 2

Mitch Kerrins 0,0,0,0 = 0

The day finished on a unfortunate note with in the very last race of the day two sidecar outfits having a coming together soon after leaving the tapes and leaving sidecar passenger Matt Putkunz ending up with a suspected broken wrist.

Roll on next meeting in November and then in December the one we are all looking forward to, the Ashley Jones memorial meeting.

One 350 cc ran yesterday (Josh Munro). Both Dakota and Beau were on 350's last year but have moved up, it would be great if we had one or two more to make the class competitive and give Josh a good work out.

It was a good day for the first meeting of the year, we just need Cory Gathercole, Sam Dore, Karlis & Mark Jones back from the UK and Matt Jones (he was there yesterday but limping, at a guess he must still be suffering from his broken leg a bit but I'm not sure) back and the Solos will be very interesting.

Hey Lunchy, caught up with Kane Munroe on Saturday night he said him and the Missus are moving back home to country Vic(Ouyen i think).

Once things settle down i'm sure he will go and have a skid at Broadford.

He's a bloody good member of Pinjar and just loves his speedway, if you can e-mail me the fixtures for the season i'll pass them on.

Cheers :)

Cheers Ozy, sorry you have to lose one for us to perhaps gain one but we will look after him for you if he comes down for a skid. If it is Ouyen and Kane likes his speedway he must be related to Scott Munro from Ouyen who pilots a three wheeled chariot ?

Ouyen is on the way to Broadford from Mildura so he might be able to hitch a lift with one of the Mildura lads, only an hour heading south from Mildura to reach Ouyen and then a lazy five more hours to reach Broadford so he can do it easy every weekend we run :D

The solo dates I have in Victoria this season are

Nov 10th Mildura - Vic Solo Champs

Nov 11th Broadford - Club Day Rd 2

Dec 2nd Broadford - Club Day Rd 3

Dec 8th Broadford - Ash Jones Memorial

Dec 29th Mildura - Rd 1 Oz champs

Jan 26th Mildura - Oz U21's

Jan 27th Broadford - Club Day Rd 4

Mar 1st Broadford - Classic meeting

Mar 2nd Broadford - Club Day Rd 5

Mar 30th Broadford - Club Championships

Apr 12th Broadford - Club Day Rd 6

May 10th Broadford - Club Day Rd 7

A few belter weekends there with Sat & Sunday meetings on, shame two of them are split between Mildura (Sat night) & Broadford (Sun 11am) because with the distance between them and the need for sleep it makes it tough for folks to get to both.

Blimey I'd hate to think how many cans per trip with no sleep that would be for the young blokes like Ozy. When I was Ozy's age it would be a 12 can trip with two stops and no sleep, these days it's a no can trip with 12 stops and two sleeps.:oops:

it would be worth going to the vic title this year if you want a warm up to the aussie under21 title!

Hi Lunchy thought I would throw this up as well only 4 & half hours from Mildura!

Cheers Rod.

Youse mob of Southerners are makin' me jealous again - "its only 5 hours from Ouyen" "We're only 41/2 hrs from Mildura"! Even Ozyace is just up the road from a Speedway track!

Takes me 10 hours by Camel to get to a Power Point so's I can plug me 'Puter in!!

See youse in December; can't miss me, easier to go round than go over, I'll be the big fat bastard with the sore feet, on the lookout for a certain skinny ******! ("Dr Lunchy, I presume?"):wink:

Lunchy --Mark's been back home a while now.

Thanks MM

He wasn't there last weekend so I simply assumed he wasn't back yet. I know he wasn't thrilled when he missed out on qualifying for the Oz titles last year and didn't ride much here last season after that. Hope we see him back on the bike one day soon.

Undera to Broadford should take between 90 minutes and two hours. If you are heading south to Broadford coming along the Hume Freeway you will need to take the turn off for Broadford township, then in the middle of the town take a left on the road signposted to Flowerdale. You will go back over the freeway and the State Motorcycle Complex ia about 1km after that on the right. There isn't an exit direct from the freeway for the Flowerdale road.

You coming over for the Vic junior titles ?

Thinking about it Lunchy, then might head to Broadford to give the new 350 a run.

We have actually sold the junior bike, but it is on loan for a few meetings up till christmas.

I will put that into practice again Lunchy, Adelaide to Mildura with the Sedgeman clan after the Gold Cup :)

Last year going to Jay Lyons Testy from Adelaide with Oz #3, Redmond and Davey Adams i think it was about 12 or 13 cans with a coupla stops at pubs in between (might i say can't drink to much while laughing all the way there) anyway i've got to show Ryan & Justin what it takes to be a supreme athlete like myself. :D

BTW Munners said thanks and will be in touch with you shortly. B)

Are you going to Wayville or Mildura on the Wednesday?

Spoke to brother Ondie & Sedgey senior and the meeting is a deffo.

Cheers

It amazes me how you keep in such superb nick all year round Ozy, it must be the constant training at such high intenisty levels that you do that makes it possible  .

No problem about Munners, hope to see him having a skid somewhere over here when he settles down and manages to miraculously get the brownie points in credit with the missus.

I'm a definite for Wayville on the Saturday but not sure about Mildura on the Wednesday. With a bit of luck I'll be getting the tijuana from work soon and I can be a man of leisure like I had always planned, if that eventuates and I have nothing better to do Mildura might be a nice little interlude to keep me amused for a day or two ;) .

The way i'm going i think i might change my name to BFO (Big Fat Ozyace)although BFD will prolly want to see me in court for copyright issues.
