Blazeaway
Finally I have 5 mins to write my thoughts on a fantastic weekend. Firstly I have to say congratulations to the Leszno club who put on a great weekend, thanks for having us. We met some cool people Pedropete and his Dad, Tractorgirl and especially Lawrence the best speedway commentator around. Sorry I missed you after the meeting mate completely forgot. (somehow contrived to miss Rico though!) Onto the meeting itself, luckily some very kind person gave me a couple of pit passes so my brothe and me watched the meeting from the pits which was an awesome experience. Thanks a lot mate you "Know" who you are. The racing was pretty good I thought, what people who are complaining need to remember is thaat these are the best riders in the World and once they are in front very difficult to pass. Unless of course you are Scott Nicholls who was a complete embarrassment. Peering over the airfence there was loads of dirt on the track it just seemed to me like it needed more water down. All in all a great weekend. If you've never been to a GP in Poland I would recommend you do so. The atmosphere is second to none and the Polish people are some of the nicest I have met anywhere in the World.

Trees
Thought I'd trawl through the borefest that was the European GP ............. no comment. Was gonna mention something about Adams wanting to give something back to the fans but I won't. Edited May 16, 2008 by Trees

mikec
Got to agree with previous posts, it was a brilliant weekend over in Poznan/Leszno. From arriving in Leszno town square 4pm Saturday afternoon, wondered where everyone was! Soon found out, arrived at the stadium forecourt & it was a great atmosphere out there, electric inside. To the Wroclaw fan who came up to us talkin about Crumpy at the interval, it was good to have a beer with you, shame my Polish isn't as good as your English! The after meeting music, beers, atmos was great too, was a shame to leave just after 1 to get the train to Poznan. Shame too that I didn't get to Gniezno, sounds a good match but we found a cellar bar in Poznan to watch my team win the Premier League at Wigan, then enjoy a few beers sat outside the bars round the main square. Credit to the Poles, you were great hosts, thank you. If you thought about going to Leszno this year but weren't sure so you stayed at home - get yourself over there next year, you won't be disappointed! By the way, where have they hid the duty free shop at Poznan airport??

No, Trees, submission is not an option. You keep fighting, you hear me. We'll never let BSI break our spirit of defiance, will we?

mikec
The same place where you buy the sandwiches and cans of alcohol etc. Ah right, I was sat there for nearly an hour - it looked more like a bar to me! Not complaining though. Told the girlfriend the "duty free" only sold beer, beer, cigs, vodka & crisps - so she wouldn't get a nice present. Instead of perfume or jewellery she got a can of Lech & a bag of crisps. For some reason she didn't speak to me when I got home. Ah well, roll on next year!! Rico
Shame too that I didn't get to Gniezno Indeed mikec - the match at Gniezno was top drawer. Scorching hot day, track gets a tad dusty, so they do some proper watering as required. I went along expecting a big home win, but Rovne had strengthened up and they were very competitive indeed and possibly unfortunate not to win on the day. Highlight of the meeting was heat 14, which is undoubtedly the best 4 laps of speedway I've seen for a while as Roman Ivanov tried to hold back the home pair while Matej Kus was in front. You could have literally thrown a blanket over all 4 for the majority of the 4 laps and the resulting 1-5 set us up with a last heat decider. Most peculiar thing of the day was when the Rovne pair (with Kus on a double points ride) made the gate on an 8-1, the home fans almost to a man applauded, and then gave the visitors a hearty round of applause at the end of the race. Some whistles were directed at the home heat leader in the race, while Simon Jensen gave the crowd a big wave after finishing stone last. Very odd. Rico ps Delighted to see your train tale on here PedroPete - made me chuckle that you hadn't got home till after we did on Sunday morning. As you gathered on the train to and from Gzniezno I love sleeping on trains. I must say you are a better navigator than my dad. We actually made it back to Poznan before daylight. It nearly wasn't daylight when our sunday finished but we don't go to Poland to sleep in hotel bedrooms. Roll on Bydgoczsz.
