crazysue
I took my 12 year old ie the little git in the POW last year, during the day but they would not let him in after the meeting. How many more sleeps Shaz Snap...they allowed my 13 year old in during the afternoon but not after the meeting. Ok advice please people, I am about to order my tickets (finally!!) but am in a bit of a quandry..... can anyone tell me what the viewing is like from the bottom tier? Where do the rows for sitting start (as there is green netting over the first don't know how many rows)? Experiences? Etc I have sat in the middle and top tier but never the bottom one and part of me wants to try it out (the one who wants to be able to escape quickly if needed!) but the other part is wanting to go back to areas we know (but is scared about the lack of quickness for escaping!) rabbit
I sat in the lower tier last year Sue and I know that like me you are vertically challenged ...I found that everything was OK but people had a tendency to stand up every time it got interesting on the 3rd/4th bends and that really restricted me seeing a lot! Having said that, I was right up in the corner by the entrance/exit to the pits. I think if i was paying for tickets, I'd try higher up so you're looking down on things rather than being levellish and losing sight if the tall boogers decide to stand up! crazysue
Lol thanks Rabbit Back to the top tier it is then (middle tier would be perfect but it is way too expensive for my purse)! Might try a different bend this time though...not done bend 3 yet!
GirlFriday
The group I go with from Newton Abbot (10 of us this year), always bump into a bunch of Edinburgh Monarchs supporters wearing kilts!! They are usually on the top floor in the POW. Do any of them post on the forum? Only me. The Emmerdales with Kilts will be making apperances in all the usual places
Bobbin' Along
Over the years the Bobbin' family has sat top, middle and bottom tiers. Very top tier - only attempt if you don't get vertigo, or don't mind heights (I thought I was going to throw up every time I looked down). Middle - I found this fairly good viewing, but if you sit above bends 1-2, then it's very steep and the seats are a lot closer together. It's the one bit of the stadium left over from the old Cardiff Arms Park. You find other people's knees being pressed between your shoulder blades. Bottom tier - I'm quite tall, (5 ft 6) so I find absolutely no problem viewing. Apart from last year when I seemed to have the world's tallest man in front of me. And he kept standing up. Mother in law is tiny (just a fraction over 5 foot) and can see without having to keep standing up. She uses the screen that are all around the stadium to enable her to watch if necessary. But this isn't for everyone. I think it speaks volumes that we have sat on the lower tier 4 times and we've been going since the first year. crazysue
Thanks Bobbin... we have sat middle tier twice and top tier 3 times and much prefered the middle tier, then they got expensive. So far, I haven't been too bad on the top tier in terms of vertigo but the getting up there is a bit of hassle but at least it stops me smoking as by the time I get down to the bottom, it's time to get back up again so I tend not to bother. Another question on the lower tier....every time I have looked at it, it seems quite closed in and claustrophobic, is that just an illusion? Seb the Snail
Sue, I've been to the last 4 at Cardiff and sat in the bottom tier for the first time last year and definitely thought that it was the best view. We were right on the exit of bend 2 in Row 15, which was really about Row 5 given the meshing. It wasn't claustrophobic at all and you could get a real sense of the racing as the bikes were only 20 metres or so in front of you. Once you start to go up it all seems a bit distant IMHO. Sorry to contradict rabbit, but as I'm 6 foot I probably didn't have the same problems with the viewing. I'm making an 11th hour decision about attending this year, but it would be good to say hello if I make it. Not sure if I'm brave enough to meet shazzy though. I've never felt claustrophobic in there, but I can see why someone might. And at least it's quicker to get out than on the top tiers. rabbit
Sorry to contradict rabbit, but as I'm 6 foot I probably didn't have the same problems with the viewing. Probably not, and you're just the type I get stood right in front of me at gigs too (although they tend to have long flowing locks or big hair too)...usually 5 mins before the start when I'm so chuffed I've been able to find a spot to see. I support equal rights for short-ar$es! Sue - thinking back I did find it a little dark in the under-tier last year, but as i said we were right in the corner and I was a fair way back. Given the choice I would definitely go for a higher tier, but that's just me. Edited June 17, 2008 by rabbit

crazysue
Made my mind up eventually...... We are sitting in U24 so top tier, I did think about the bottom tier but couldn't get the idea of it being claustrophobic out of my head especially as seats nearer to the front have now gone. Mind you, we have been lucky on the top tier, our seats are near to the bottom of the tier instead of the top so not as many steps to climb up and down and of course with it being the top tier, it stops me smoking during the meeting so is better healthwise. Thanks for all your help earlier.

If you'd seen me and Chalky last year running up and down the stairs in between races, beats any sort of fitness regime I can tell you
