markmoran
Hi ... Me again I hope I dont get turfed off for spamming here, lol. I just happened to notice the shortage of accomodation you guys have been suffering and I am in a position to help out. We have a hotel in Newport and have room for 3 doubles and 2 singles for the dates of your meeting. Maybe even more if you are really pushed for somewhere to go Obviously we are in a different city to the event but its just 12 miles and we'll drive you there and point you in the right direction ... Then we'll pick you up afterwards and get you back to the hotel. We have a restaurant and a pizza takeaway attached to the hotel and the bar closes .... errrmmmmmm ,.... well whenever So there you go ... a nce place to kip ... restaurant and pizza place for munchies ... a bar that never closes and chauffeur driven to and from the event !! It doesn't get much better does it ? Get back to me here or call me on 07816992090 ... we'll sort out a deal for you. PS ... we intend to use the hotel specifically for events such as this Speedway meeting. We will be offering package deals for ANY events in South Wales for 1 or 2 nights ... with transport to your event and return ... food, bed, beer, etc etc. We have bookings for the 4 rugby games in Nov at the Millenium Stadium already. Also for the Madonna concerts. Next year for the Speedway Grand Prix we'll lay on a real party atmosphere and get a great weekend sorted out for any of you guys who return annually ... We can take bookings for this as from now ... we'll fit 46 people in the hotel altogether and they will all be Speedway fans - so book early !!! To the Admin of this place: Nice forum and great members - hope I haven't intruded with my 'spamming' - just trying to help out

shazzybird
LT - as she does not have he good grace to reply to you I will!!! No - she is not staying there, SHE is staying in the Mercure Macdonald Lodge. WE have stayed there for a few years now and the staff look after us very well. Pop in for a drink - there is always a lot flowing!!! sorry Lt never saw your posting, like Sandie says we've been at the Lodge for a few years now been in hotels close to the stadium they are good especially the Holiday Inn but paying that amount of money for a room and not being able to get a seat in the bar after the meeting as passing speedway fans come in and end up sitting in the foyer no thanks I'll stick to the Lodge we get a good crowd there each year and plenty of seats inside and out for everyone. No they definatly don't check your age and don't even look at the ticket, just scan the barcode, there is a few people in our group in the past who are in late 40's early 50's and got the concession ticket and not had a problem. Good. Last year we just had 2 adult tickets and didn't worry about it. Ah well, that'll save me £
srbramble
We are at the Copthorne...anyone else staying there? And my tickets haven't arrived as yet but then that is because we haven't bought them yet! Hi Sue. My brother and I will be there. Seems to be about 5 miles from the stadium, which is a little too far too stagger back methinks, but last year we stayed at St pierre country club which is in Chepstow! Still had a great time tho. Hoping for more of the same this year!
SW17 Bulldog
Oh dear! Have you tried looking at something like this to see if any of them jog your memory? http://www.booking.com/searchresults.html?...3;city=-2591777 Was it definitely a hotel or bed/breakfast? There are loads on Cathedral Road which is within walking distance of the stadium. Thanks Gem. Was chatting to a mate today, and jogged my memory that it might have been booked through Expedia or someone similar. Logged in to expedia, and there it was! Cardiff Central Travelodge! Hoping for more of the same this year! No need to stagger, they run a coach from the hotel to the stadium and one from the stadium back to the hotel after the GP. Cost was £5 per person last year each way...so we got a taxi into Cardiff (worked out cheaper) but made the mistake of thinking we could get a taxi home, we struggled for nearly 2 hours and was being quoted £60 before another transport for another hotel took pity on the group of us trying to get taxi's and took us back for £10 per person. Sandie
Thanks Gem. Was chatting to a mate today, and jogged my memory that it might have been booked through Expedia or someone similar. Logged in to expedia, and there it was! Cardiff Central Travelodge! well done SW but unlucky at the same time!!! The Travel Lodge does its job - its wonderfully central and cheap. But if you have a room at the front of the hotel its very noisy for most of the night - that is of course if you plan on sleeping in your room at all!!!!! Stayed there a couple of times but as I now go with some elderly friends she they need a hotel a litle quieter and with seats in the bar!!!! Still 19 sleeps to go - I think our elderly guest was a little premature yesterday!!!

leanne1706
I think our tickets were delivered yesterday, but as we're still recovering from jetlag we didn't get up to answer the door so they're waiting for us at the collection office! Starting to get quite excited now...
shazzybird
Rain, rain, rain It can bloody snow for all I care the stadium has a roof Dont start me off - the best seats of all being outside sat on the ground It's the best place to eat a kebab after a belly full of wkd and vodka shots! I'm sure you will sleep okay but just in case pack some ear plugs - in fact that might be a good idea for your son in the stadium anyway as it is very noisy with the air horns. rach
i have a family room at the travelodge that i dont need anymore so if you want it let me know and ill tell u when i am cancelling it we are camping at lavernock again for the 3rd year in a row. this year u need to show a gp ticket tho as the field is shut to the general public. does anyone know if theres anywhere u can get tickets without havin to pay the booking fee on the net? we've always got our tickets on the day in the past. last yr we got the bus to town from the site for about #2.50 and a taxi back was about #

Thanks Sue, thats very good news indeed, and we will definitely make good use of this facility! Last year we had a 1 hour car journey back to our hotel, so we were not able to partake in any refreshments! We did, however, make up for it when we got there! Thats what you get for leaving the booking of accomodation to the last minute. We were a bit concerned about the travelling to and from the stadium, but your news has cheered me up no end. Thanks and see you there. P.s. I'm not as bad as I'm made out to be on here, but maybe, you will be able to judge for yourself if we bump into each other in Cardiff.
