Lake Bodom Comet
According to this week's Speedway Star the Ullevei Stadium in Goteborg plan to lay a semi-permanent speedway track(whatever that is!) and hope to stage next years Swedish GP and also re-introduce League racing to the stadium. Could this be a lifeline for Kaparna with them maybe moving into the Ullevei and abandoning plans to re-locate to the yet to be built arena at Thorp?? Ghostwalker
Would be exciting though! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> exciting?? IMO nothing exciting with a team riding on a 40'000 capacity stadium infront of 500-1000 people if the appeal (which i hope) is turned down or infront of 2000 people if they win the appeal. Ullevi is also a cold and windy arena in the west coast which in general is much more rainy then us at the eastern part of the country. And who knows what sort of interest Kaparna might generate in a couple of years. What I like about Kaparna is they always have vision, much unlike a few other blind, deaf and hopelessly self-centered small town clubs brimming with negativism and small mindedness. The stadium has finally realised that athletics tracks are a waste of space then?

For how long have they talked about building a new arena? For many many years and still when they were kicked out of Arendal there were no new arena available? I still believe that an arena of Ullevi's size is way too big for a local team and a non appropiate arena for speedway. also i still dont find any excitement in laying a track on top of the running tracks. So what? who's gonna use it? Who knows if kaparna even exists next season or the season 2009...

I assure you mr Rander is very accomplished in most things speedway. He is however, far from popular, in many places and constantly opposed, in many cases for no other reason than who he is. Well running at the Ullevi is certainly better than moving around, isn't it. Getting speedway right into town centres can't be bad. And as far as we know the plans for the facilities in Säve are still very much on as soon as the appeals have been dealt with. Which in fairness will take time, knowing the swedish court system. So Kaparna will in all likelihood continue to struggle as long as they don't have a proper home. I really hope they get one, and will continue to support their struggle to survive by all means available in the face of constant adversity.
