Just an idea but personally i think its a good one!

The CC is on the same night as Robbo's benefit meeting so i can't envisage a strong line up for it.

I presume that riders would need paid to come to Workington to ride in it, so why not cancel it for this year and the Worky promotion can use that money to put on a few coaches to Rye so everyone can support Robbo!!!

I for one would love to be there for him and i'm sure i speak for other comets fans when i say that!

Ok maybe i don't think for other Comets fans then.... but then again i suppose i'm just looking past my own nose!

Lets face it, its not gonna be a big crowd with the Comets line up plus Stancl, Rusty and a few others.

You'd have to pay these riders to come anyway and as Matty said you could put the meeting back a week or so.

I was thinking of an idea to help a genuinley nice guy who people like and its not like Workington Speedway struggles for money when we get well over 1000 spectators every week.

I see your point about income but you'd make the money back tenfold a week later with a line up including Stead, Holder etc

I see this meeting is to run over the delightfully traditional format of the highest scoring rider over a set number of heats [in this instance twenty] being declared the winner. There will be no semi-finals or a final. :approve:

Could it be that someone has realised that the old way may the best one on occasion. I certainly hope so. Could it even be that the day will dawn when we see the abolition of the pernicious...........but no; that's probably too much to expect  - at least in my pre-Horizontal Hilton period.

Good night, sweet friends, may angels guard your dreams (E.E.Vella)

Get well soon David!

As everyone expected, Simon Stead was brilliant to watch and thoroughly deserved his victory.

Earlier on in the meeting it looked like Doolan might have gave him a run for his money but it turned out that Ostergaard was on the gas instead.

i would have liked to have seen another race with Simon and Ulrich at the end because ulrich had just recorded the fastest time of the night and looked really fast.

Well done Simon, nice to hear him say he wished he could ride at DP every week!
