Fourentee
For my money, Lewis Bridger still starts favourite. I think his greater experience (and what a weird phrase that is for someone who's still only 17) will give him the edge – two full Elite League seasons, the recent World U21 final, etc. I would also expect him to be more relaxed this year, having won in 2006 when all the pressure and expectation seemed to take its toll on the night. But Tai Woffinden should certainly pose a threat and has the benefit of recent Monmore practice. Looking for a longer-odds spoiler, how about Rob Mear? Good form currently, and I seem to recall (without looking it up) that he sprang to life in the later stages of last year's final. Looking forward to this one, though, and it's very much to Wolverhampton's credit that they give it an Elite League staging every year, often in the teeth of big action elsewhere. Vince
They are dropping like flies! Sam Hurst withdrew on Saturday as his hand hasn't healed as well as he was hoping. I think a lot will depend on which riders have experience of the track. We know Lewis goes well there and I don't see anybody beating him to the title. However the slightest slip up and I suspect Tai and Josh will be right there to take advantage. Outside bets for the rostrum - Nicki Glanz or Simon Lambert. seanisnumber1
Well done to Woffy on winning the meeting no suprise with the top 4 really, Auty would have been 3rd had he not looped at the start in heat 20 by the looks of it...seems to do that a lot!! Chris
Well done to Tai. Nice to see a kid with abit of humility won the title rather than Bridger, who has alot of growing up to do. Tai has been a credit to himself and family this season. Can't fault the kid in any department. Been a pleasure to watch him week in week out. A good team man, great team rider, appreciates the fans and always gives 100% out on track and in the pits. Has it all at the age of 17. Just needs to improve his gating and your looking at the full package, who will be very, very successful on the world stage.

T.N.T.
Well done to Woffy on winning the meeting no suprise with the top 4 really, Auty would have been 3rd had he not looped at the start in heat 20 by the looks of it...seems to do that a lot!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Josh was possibly the 3rd best on the night, but he did gain 2 extra points in his first ride when Kyle Hughes stopped in front of Joe Haines coming off the last bend allowing Josh to grab the win. Overall, the top 4 shone through with Robert Mear clearly the best of the rest but lost out when his throttle came off his handlebars while leading on the last lap. Was very pleased to see Joe Haines get a rostrum place though and he still qualifies for the 2008 and 2009 final.
BobC
Hooray!!! At last....a meeting being decided in the correct manner.20 heats, winner takes all.No semi finals, and no one off Final. Congratulations Tai.The best rider on the night won it,deservedly so.His ht15 stalking of Bridger was right out of the top drawer. He forced his way up the inside on the last lap,Bridger not even makng a mistake.A quite breathtaking ride. Bridger still worries me,looking wild and almost out of control at times. Some people like it,I dont, hes a accident waiting to happen.Still pulling wheelies on the way to the start. What is that about? Its not clever. Haines quietly, but efficiently got on with it.Unlucky with Hughes stopping right in front of him allowing Auty through in ht2.Still ended up with 2pts though. Auty looping in a pressure ride.As others have said, not the first time this has happened. Unluckiest rider of the night was Kyle Hughes.Winning ht2 easily over Auty and Haines, when his chain came off on the 4th turn, last lap. Then leading his second ride, when he spun off.If he had held on to both races,he would have finished on 11pts,right up there at the sharp end. Overall,an entertaining evening, with Tai shining like a beacon.

Lewis in full flow is a joy to watch and i wish we could somehow swap him for a certain dane. Tai was brilliant, the kid is so controlled and skillfull its hard to believe tbh. Auty looks hot, awesome round bends 1 and 2! Good luck to him at Brandon. Rob Mear, Joe Haines and Kyle Hughes also look very promising. I think he needs a mentor or maybe even a new one Was hoping to see Lewis name on top of the rostrum for this one, unfortunately it wasn't to be. Superb first bend cutback by Woffinden to take the lead, blistering outside pass by Bridger to regain it. But I felt the Eastbourne man eventually just overcooked it and opened the door for Woffinden. Perhaps you could say that Woffinden was near enough to exert pressure and force the error. Must echo Superguest's reflections on Bridger, who seems to get more than his fair share of stick on these boards. He slumped forward on finishing the race with his hand on his head and the disappointment was obvious. Yet he rode round, patted Woffinden on the head, had a chat, did a lap and a wheelie for the crowd while surely knowing that his best chance had gone. Woffinden certainly the best man on the night – the four quickest times to boot – with Bridger a worthy runner-up. Josh Auty could have forced a three-man title run-off with a last-heat win over Woffinden – it looked neck and neck coming out of the gate until Auty looped. And good for him on having the grace to turn round while walking off and give the crowd a wave, despite how he must have been feeling. Elsewhere, Joe Haines a slightly fortunate third but a very good (and very young) prospect. Very neat stylist. My dark horse Rob Mear could have finished third overall but for the mishap alluded to by TNT (though I recall he was second rather than leading?). Finally, good to see fans from other tracks making the journey to back their hopefuls, especially the contingent just in front of me rooting enthusiastically for Sittingbourne's Jerran Hart. Edit: And well done again CVS for giving the youngsters an Elite League setting at which to race. shazzybird
Fourentee what a nice positive posting with regard to Lewis and Tai, I'm bias when it comes to Lewis I think he is a World Champion in the making just needs a firm guiding hand come on you Eastbourne management can't you see that Lewis needs a bit of help here not all the fans can be wrong can they? Was that the Barmy Army from Sittingbourne in attendance?
