Fourentee
Fourentee what a nice positive posting with regard to Lewis and Tai, Was that the Barmy Army from Sittingbourne in attendance? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thank you. One gives as one finds. The Jerran Hart contingent was more of a platoon than an army, but good to see them nonetheless. Very enthusiastic for their rider, as is only right and proper. Even brought a banner! Edit: Shazz, are you volunteering to apply the firm guiding hand referred to above Edited September 18, 2007 by Fourentee
shazzybird
Edit: Shazz, are you volunteering to apply the firm guiding hand referred to above <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In all honesty I think Lewis has enough hangers on as it is, what he really needs is a riders guiding hand someone that has been there & done it, Edward at Poole has Jason Crump he's been there for the youngsters this season and I feel that someone like Nikki P would be ideal for Lewis, having never been a fan of NP I've seen him change over the last 2 seasons and feel that he could be a calming (yes I did say NP and Calming in one sentence ) influence for him if he's to get anywhere in our sport. BobC
Was that the Barmy Army from Sittingbourne in attendance? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We arrived good and early, and looking forward to a few quiet moments, while the dog meeting was going on. Indeed we were, until Debbie and gang arrived! Dont know about airhorns being a noise nuisance..............this lot run them close! All good fun though, and as has been said, you have to admire them. Agree with you Shazz,a calming influence is all Lewis needs. To me he is losing his way a little at the moment.Cant fault his enthusiasm though. 21st century heathen
Can't believe all the moaning about Lewis. I don't know him off-track so that's not what I'm referring to. But things like doing wheelies on track. What ever next?!! He's arguably the best young Brit the EL has seen. Isn't it time we got behind our young talent and supported them?!! It seems a British trait to slag off our sports stars. Anyway, I got one thing right. If Lewis were to win it he'd have needed a maximum. Congrats to Tai. It sounds as though it could have gone either way, with Tai coming out on top in the vital heat. Fingers crossed that he's changed his mind since last season. C'mon Tai wear the Union Flag with pride.
e,skidz
Lewis Bridger has lots of talent and he has proven that he can give us fans something to shout about ...yes my quote is also, that we all need to support our British lads that have the ability to go far in speedway..he might not be everyone's cuppa tea in personality but that don't change him being British and a great entertainer in our Sport.. he still learning everyday as us all and our Sports association needs to help more to build and support our youngsters, get behind them more to make us Proud to have great talent. No doubt about it Tai is more then special and like to Congratulate him for his fine efforts... I said before May the best man win!!! Lets just hope that if he gets most of his support from British fans and promoters that he do the decent decider and Like us all see him represent us and wear the Great Britain Flag with pride. Well done to all the lads that rode and keep it up lads....U all was a pleasure to watch , From the Ippo crew Supporting Jerran Hart Cause if it wasn't for you young guys the speedway world would dry up!!!!!! Fozzie4388
People may recognise Tai as an Aussie but he is no more an Aussie then i am or the next person he was born in Scunthorpe and thats that.

Beowulf
As a Wolves fan, I'm not bothered. The Aussies, generally speaking, do show commitment to the EL Just looking forward to seeing him develop over the next few years.
wjm
Brilliant post by Fourentee, can I ask any one how did Ben Taylor look ? Cheers.
Fourentee
Ben Taylor? Good deeds by stealth really, wjm. Always tidy and competitive, well worth his 10 points, without threatening the Woffinden/Bridger/Auty axis (and no shame in that).

Parsloes 1928 nearly
Time will tell when he either picks TEAM GB or TEAM AUSTRALIA <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Surely as he's already ridden for GB Under 21s, represented GB in the World championship and won the GB Under 18 championship then he has decided..: he is BRITISH (as previously noted, he was born here of English parentage..) shazzybird
This is what we've all said already Derek but like I say time will tell Yet recently during an interview when asked which flag he will fly under in the future he declined to answer So has he made his mind up already? or not? 21st century heathen
And that's a step forward Shazz. Last season at the U18's he was in no doubt whatsoever that he considered himself an Aussie. Another year and he'll see sense.
superguest
I was ear wiggin at the hotel in poland lol and someone who knew him and his dad said that he honestly hadnt made his mind up yet. He will have to at some point, is it 18?
Fourentee
I rather feared that last night's result and performance would open up this can of worms again. Of course British speedway fans would want the lad to go with the land of his birth rather than that of his upbringing – potential will always be in demand. Obviously at some point a decision will have to be made, but some of the rather belligerent postings in previous threads hardly seemed constructive. Perhaps we should all just recognise the conflicting pulls involved and leave the Woffinden family to get on with it in their own time. Parsloes 1928 nearly
But as things already stand IF he was to opt to ride as an Australian, he'll have denied a young British rider a place in the British Under 21 Final, a slot in the Under 21 World Championship and now an Under 18s British title. And that's before likley inclusion in all those again next year.. No, I can't see once a rider has so significantly competed for GB or as a GB rider in such events, that he can at a later date decide that, no, he didn't mean that, now he wants to be Aussie..! I'm NOT having a dig at Tai because I don't believe he'd do this; but I do think that it should be made clear for the future that participation in these events can only be as a precursor for riding as a Brit at senior level.. I note Nicki Glanz rode yesterday too - yet the Plymouth programme last week happily described him as a "young Dane"..
tigerblues
I agree with an earlier post about Bridger. I wasn't there and I know doing wheelies and the like before a race is a bit much but honestly If he becomes world champion some people will probably moan he didn't get on the rostrum right. Pleased Tai won it, he is a fantastic rider and one that I could just watch racing constantly. With regards to his nationality, I really hope he rides for GB in the future but as he hasn't had to make his mind up yet (is it 18 he will be when he has to choose?) I don't think it's worth the effort having a dig at him for choosing to ride in the GB championships. If I had the same situation, having to decide my nationality, I think it would be VERY difficult. Trying to keep my 'ampshire accent in Yorkshire is hard enough
