BigFatDave
Thanks Chris, that's exactly what I mean. There is no question Leigh is a truly brilliant rider and I wish he were more likely to be world champion than Nicky, but he does lack a bit of charisma that some of the other riders have in abundance. But i certainly never meant to offend you Big Fat Dave. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No Wuckers m8, I just don't think you've seen all the many facets of Leigh; very rarely does he knock back a request for an autograph or an interview with print, film & TV, no question is too facile for him to answer when he's being "King of the Kids", I wish some of the other Superstar riders would put as much back into the sport as he has and still continues to not just in Oz but World-wide. As far as his armchair riding style goes, some of his duels with Jason Crump in this year's OzChamps had to be seen to be believed, real "Wall-of-Death" stuff! If being a "Character" means expectorating the pacifier every time one doesn't get one's way, then trying to take out one's closest rivals during races then I'd agree Nicki's a character. I'm not one to wish bad cess on any rider but in his case I might be tempted to make an exception.
Hazzman
No one would question how superb Leigh is ON track but he reallty isn't one to mingle with fans and he is not the character that some are. That shouldn't be taken as a criticism of him, its just the make up of us all is different <{POST_SNAPBACK}> After bumping into in Bydgoszcz, the term I'd use is professional, he's the ultimate professional, he commands respect so I respected him. He deserves a lot of applauds - I'd say he's even more professionally setup than Rickardsson was. He's quite a likeable chap I remember way back in the Channel 4 highlights when he was chatted with Bradbury post-meeting he presented himself as a good guy. Possibly that's his character - the ultimate professional whose never become World Champion. I've never seen Adams ride quite like he has in the GPs this season - ordinarily, I'd agree that he isn't the most thrilling rider, but this season some of his riding has been captivating. And no one seems to get interviewed as often as Adams intra-GP - seems to get interviewed after every four heats. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It seems him and Gollob have some racing love affair going on atm. Whenever they face, there is a good race on show.
maneacat
I'd love to see Lukas back in there, but that's for purely aesthetic reasons <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He is a real character too - his antics at The Showground this season have been hugely entertaining both on and off the track! Pollyanna
Surely he wont be THAT bad <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Lukas was leading the GPs in 2004, until he had that really bad accident. Not sure he will get in via the qualifiers, but anything can happen in Speedway! That's why it's our favourite sport!
T.N.T.
Think they will be praying that Lindgren, Kasprzak and Bjarne finish in the top 3 as I can see 13 of this years line up being invited back as Lindgren and Kasprzak will be in the 2008 series for sure. Bye Bye to Lindback and one other ?
Seb the Snail
Lindgren and Kasprzak are nailed on to be in the series next year whatever happens here. Jonas could be the surprise package, and how great it would be to see the Gaffer in the GP Series!
Saint Rob
Bye Bye to Lindback and one other ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Either to the beggar when he flops and misses the top 8 again or Jagus. Hopefully it won't be Jagus but no doubt it will
HBKPCNBob
What's the full line-up? Answered my own question . Damian Baliński POL 2. Tobias Kroner GER 3. Jonas Davidsson SWE 4. Bjarne Pedersen DEN 5. Kenneth Bjerre DEN 6. Lukas Dryml CZE 7. Rory Schlein AUS 8. Niels-K. Iversen DEN 9. Steve Johnston AUS 10. Fredrik Lindgren SWE 11. Rafał Dobrucki POL 12. Lubos Tomicek CZE 13. Kyle Legault CAN 14. Renat Gafurov RUS 15. Krzysztof Kasprzak POL 16. Denis Gizatullin RUS Reserves 17. Piotr Protasiewicz POL 18. Charlie Gjedde DEN What's the odds on all 3 Danes in Vojens? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My top 3 would be - Pedersen Kasprzak Iversen With the following as likely challengers to my top 3 - Bjerre Lindgren Schlein Dryml The rest imo, dont have the quality to qualify. T.N.T.
1. Damian Baliński POL Would be ok in certain rounds like Poland and Sweden, but not much after that. 2. Tobias Kroner GER Do me a favour 3. Jonas Davidsson SWE Sweden reaches the final, 20 points from the other rounds. 4. Bjarne Pedersen DEN Will be a sad loss to the GP series if he fails here as he will be one of the three to go out along with Zagar and Linback. 5. Kenneth Bjerre DEN Home track advantage, but not GP standard yet. 6. Lukas Dryml CZE If he gets through they may opt for r/r instead. 7. Rory Schlein AUS Maybe this is a year to soon, but a contender to qualify. 8. Niels-K. Iversen DEN Has to be one of the favourites 9. Steve Johnston AUS Can just see it now, Heat 23 in Cardiff. Nicki Pedersen on gate one, Hans Andersen on gate two, Leigh Adams on gate three and from the outside . . . Johnno 10. Fredrik Lindgren SWE They will be praying he gets through this and into the GP's otherwise its hard to nominate him ahead of Holta, Hampel etc. 11. Rafał Dobrucki POL Not GP standard. 12. Lubos Tomicek CZE Will make Johnno look quick here, maybe try in a few years. 13. Kyle Legault CAN Improved but out of his depth here. 14. Renat Gafurov RUS Unpredictable, but will SKY want every GP delayed while the fix the air fence ? 15. Krzysztof Kasprzak POL Same as Lindgren. 16. Denis Gizatullin RUS Not in this league. Weird thing is, that the reserves would have more chance of qualifying than have this line up. Reserves 17. Piotr Protasiewicz POL 18. Charlie Gjedde DEN Hoping the top three are Lindgren, Kasprzak and Pedersen, but think Iversen or Bjerre will sneak in somewhere. Balinski a good outside bet Edited September 11, 2007 by T.N.T. mad max II
Lindgren and Iversen have both been out injured for a few weeks and are not riding for there clubs this week, will both be fit for saturday? Kasprazak as pulled out of the lakesides craven shield fixture due to concussion from a crash in poland practising - would this rule him out due to riders not being able to ride for 7 days due to concussion? If Lindgren isn't fit to take is place im sure he will get a wild card into next years GP!!!
BILKO
I think Adams mentioned on Sky last night that Balinski will be using his engines/bikes at Vojens. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think what Adams said was he would use his bikes when riding for Swindon.
