PREVIEW OF ROUND 18

PIRATERNA - INDIANERNA

The meeting at Platenstadion is the only one in the final round that means a lot for both team, the Pirates are fighting to stay in the Play Off while The Indians are fighting to avoid relegation.

Indianerna must take as many points as Kaparna (away against Hammarby) to avoid relegation, a task that certainly looks possible considering they have been strong visitors to Motala in previous years, and they may actually take the second win of the season even though Piraterna will surely be the favourites among the bookmakers.

Piraterna (home) (59)

1. Grzegorz Walasek, 2. Damian Balinski, 3. Mikael Max, 4. Michal Szczepaniak, 5. Ryan Sullivan, 6. Zbigniew Suchecki, 7. Christian Ingesson, (8. Tobias Ingesson)

Indianerna (away) (37)

1. Matej Ferjan, 2. Roman Povazhny, 3. Magnus Zetterström, 4. Kaj Laukkanen, 5. Piotr Protasiewicz, 6. Simon Gustafsson, 7. Henrik Gustafsson, (8. David Rohlén)

HAMMARBY - KAPARNA

Second place Hammarby have already secured their place in the top two for a place in the semifinal and have nothing to ride for, except their own honour and sportmanship towards Indianerna (who are fighting Kaparna to avoid relegation). The Stockholm team bolster a strong side which sees Slawomir Drabik making his debut instead of the injured Jesper B Jensen. Kaparna also bloster the strongest possible side available, but shouldn't be able to beat Hammarby and avoid relegation.

Hammarby (home) (58)

1. Scott Nicholls, 2. Martin Smolinski, 3. Tomasz Gapinski, 4. Slawomir Drabik, 5. Nicki Pedersen, 6. Robert Pettersson, 7. Freddie Eriksson, (8. Kim Nilsson)

Kaparna (away) (38)

1. Matej Zagar, 2. Daniel Nermark, 3. Renat Gafurov, 4. Rafal Dobrucki, 5. Kim Jansson, 6. Denis Gizatullin, 7. Dan Kjellberg, (8. Mikael Berntsson)

*-*-*

VÄSTERVIK - MASARNAAVESTA

League leading Västervik have secured their place at the top of the standing in the regular season while MasarnaAvesta have a fourth place to defend. However, MasarnaAvesta will meet up with Elit Vetlanda in the quarterfinal despite the scoreline in Västervik, and have opted to keep Leigh Adams, Emil Saifutdinov, Billy Hamill and Simon Stead out of the line-up, instead giving Pole Maciej Kuciapa a shot at making the line-up for the upcoming Play Off.

Västervik (home) (46)

1. Bjarne Pedersen, 2. Chris Harris, 3. Tomasz Chrzanowski, 4. Niels-Kristian Iversen, 5. Tomasz Gollob, 6. Sebastian Ulamek, 7. Viktor Bergström, (8. Dennis Fagerkrantz)

MasarnaAvesta (away) (50)

1. Maciej Kuciapa, 2. Ales Dryml, 3. Dave Watt, 4. Steve Johnston, 5. Antonio Lindbäck, 6. Linus Sundström, 7. Daniel Davidsson, (8. Dennis Andersson)

*-*-*

DACKARNA - ROSPIGGARNA

At the Grand Prix venue G&B Arena in Målilla, only Rospiggarna have something to ride for. The Hallstavik team need to get one point more than Piraterna to advance to the Play Off, which doesn't look to be an easy task. Second place Dackarna are missing Fredrik Lindgren but can bolster a strong pairing at reserve instead, Swedish U21 bronze medalist Ricky Kling alongside Christian Hefenbrock.

Dackarna (home) (62)

1. Hans Andersen, 2. Sebastian Aldén, 3. Peter Karlsson, 4. Lukas Dryml, 5. Andreas Jonsson, 6. Ricky Kling, 7. Christian Hefenbrock, (8. Robin Törnqvist)

Rospiggarna (away) (34)

1. Greg Hancock, 2. Adrian Miedzinski, 3. Janusz Kolodziej, 4. Adam Skornicki, 5. Jonas Davidsson, 6. Travis McGowan, 7. Andreas Messing, (8. Jonas Messing)

*-*-*

SMEDERNA - ELIT VETLANDA

Fifth place Elit Vetlanda looks likely to advance one place in the standing, only needing the bonus point if - at the same time - Västervik beat MasarnaAvesta by (at least) six points. Elit Vetlanda have been giving Jason Crump a night off while Jaroslaw Hampel and Thomas H Jonasson are missing through injury. The home side also suffers a couple of riders on the sideline; Stefan Andersson and Krzysztof Buczkowski, the latter is riding a meeting in his native Poland.

Could be an interesting meeting despite both teams being at reduced strength, two evenly matched team were Smederna could possibly suffer at second string positions.

Smederna (home) (34)

1. Krzysztof Kasprzak, 2. Mariusz Puszakowski, 3. Rory Schlein, 4. Morten Risager, 5. Wieslaw Jagus, 6. Linus Eklöf, 7. Robert Miskowiak, (8. Robert Henderson)

Elit Vetlanda (away) (62)

1. Lee Richardson, 2. Tomasz Jedrzejak, 3. Karol Zabik, 4. Peter Ljung, 5. Rune Holta, 6. Niklas Larsson, 7. Lukasz Jankowski, (8. Robin Aspegren)

Attendence: 1438

Elit Vetlanda took what seems to be a comfortable win, though is was actually far from it. Smederna were only two points behind (35-37) with four heats to go, but the away team outgated Smederna in the later parts of the meeting, outscoring them 10-1 in the nomination heat in the process.

Smederna (home) 40 (74)

1. Krzysztof Kasprzak 1-3-2-1*-M = 7+1 (5)

2. Mariusz Puszakowski 0-2*-2*-0 = 4+2 (4)

3. Rory Schlein 3-T-1-1-1 = 6 (5)

4. Morten Risager 1-0-0-0 = 1 (4)

6. Linus Eklöf 1-0-0-0 = 1 (4)

Elit Vetlanda (away) 55 (117)

1. Lee Richardson 3-1-1*-3-2* = 10+2 (5)

2. Tomasz Jedrzejak 2*-3-2-1*-2* = 10+3 (5)

3. Karol Zabik 2-1-2-0-3 = 8 (5)

4. Peter Ljung 0-F-Ef-2* = 2+1 (4)

6. Niklas Larsson 0-N-0-1* = 1+1 (3)

7. Lukasz Jankowski 2-3-1-2*-2 = 10+1 (5)

8. Robin Aspegren

For Smederna,

Kasprzak blew hot and cold, would have expected more. Puszakowski scored more than expected after some fine gates, but it won't help him to get a team place in Smederna next year I imagine. Schlein conceeded three 1-5's throughout the meeting, he simply didn't gate and even though he tried hard, he couldn't translate it into points. Anyway, he should be happy he wasn't fined for "waving" towards the referee's box all the way from the start area back to the pit after he went through the tapes in heat 6. Risager was out of depth in the body of the team. Jagus had a 'dud' start in his first and last heat but looked liked a World Champion when he did gate. Eklöf has had better meetings. Miskowiak was very good even though he did tail off towards the end, he could've been excluded for not obeying the start marshal's order a couple of times.

For Elit Vetlanda,

Richardson had a good evening, solid second heatleader stuff on Tuesday night. Jedrzejak gated well and rode fast on a track which suited him very well. Zabik didn't gate particulary well, but scored 8 points from number three, good enough. Ljung had a night to forget, didn't look comfortable on the track and lost some points due to that. Holta provided a skippper performence, he scored a bucket of points and helped his teammates home on many occasions. Larsson shot out of the gate in heat 11 to score a point. Jankowski gates like a rocket most of the times and puts himself in scoring positions which he usually manages to defend, just like in Eskilstuna.

Man of the match: Tomasz Jedrzejak

Most exciting rider: Rory Schlein

CURRENT STANDING:

1. Västervik, 18, 16-0-2, 40p (+170)

2. Hammarby, 18, 11-4-3, 35p (+157)

---------------------------------------------

3. Dackarna, 18, 12-1-5, 31p (+182)

4. Elit Vetlanda, 18, 11-0-7, 28p (+114)

5. MasarnaAvesta, 18, 11-0-7, 26p (-24)

6. Piraterna, 18, 9-2-7, 25p (+59)

---------------------------------------------

7. Rospiggarna, 18, 9-1-8, 23p (+17)

8. Smederna, 18, 3-0-15, 8p (-204)

9. Kaparna, 18, 2-1-15, 5p (-312)

---------------------------------------------

10. Indianerna, 18, 1-1-16, 4p (-159)

Elit Vetlanda passed MasarnaAvesta in the standing, as well as Kaparna passed Indianerna to avoid relegation.

In Sweden this season it happens very often! His points is mostly from the back!

Very entertaining to see Roo-Boy here every tuesday week in and week out.

Yes he has been truly magnificent this season with his 140p on 16 meetings.

he was also awarded the captain status as well when Compton got sacked.

I really hope Rory understand how popular and appreciated he is coz' we do love him and according to a comment he made in local newpaper Rory would stay with Smederna "as long as you love me" so i think we have a deal then Rory?
