TwoMinuteWarning
The Pairs event today was won by Shawn McConnell (for the 5th time) and Tommy Allen. Usual entertaining meeting, with a couple of erratic but enthusiastic Poles (Liberski and Idziorek), the exciting Mr.Bridger, and another fine display of small track riding (well, they dont come any smaller than Brighton) from Eddie Kennett. Impressive show from Martin Dugard, who has extra weight on the back wheel these days! Â A large contingent of Birmingham fans were disappointed when their hero, Jason Lyons, fell on the first bend of his first race, and suffered slight concussion, withdrawing from the meeting. Â One of the new faces was particularly impressive, New Zealander based-in-USA Ricky Wells. A good prospect, and an old head on 16-year old shoulders. He is the USA Under-21 Champion. Â Qualifying Shawn McConnell 9 & Tommy Allen 7 = 16 Danny King 7 & Adam Roynon 7 = 14 Jason Lyons 0, Ricky Wells 8, Jason King (res) 3, & Jordan Frampton (res) 2 = 13 Edward Kennett 10 & Sebastian Brucheiser 2 = 12 Oliver Allen 9 & Simon Gustafsson 3 = 12 Lewis Bridger 7 & Marcin Liberski 4 = 11 Henka Gustafsson 6 & Danny Giffard 4 = 10 Martin Dugard 8 & Emil Idziorek 0 = 8 Â Final 6 laps, scoring 4-3-2-0 T Allen, McConnell, Roynon, D King McConnell & Allen 7, Roynon & King
shirls
Well done Shawn and Tommy, also to young Ricky Wells for his 8 points and Kennett for being top scorer with 10. Wish i had been there now
Sandie
Got home at midnight after a very enjoyable day.  I was reluctant to go as the riders did not really interest me (personal choice and all that) BUT I am so pleased I did.  Some cracking racing in both meetings with 'no quarter given' in many of them.  Ricky Wells definately looked a good prospect. I know people will say its only Brighton but he held his bike well and looked for the opening at every opportunity. Sorry that Olly dropped out but better than than going through the Centre walls which we thought he was about to do!!!!  Only dispointment was the Ed Kennett 'incident'. IF he had been anything else other than a EASTBOURNE rider he would have been put back to the 2nd start line after the first incident. But no that was never going to happen. But generally all taken in good spirit and a very very good day out.  Company not bad either   Oh and Martin, I may not have won the chocolate feast but at least I got my free parking - the barrier was up in the car park so we didnt have to pay the expected £15!!! BONUS!!

Dugard limping and has withdrawn. Lyons injured earlier also withdrawn.  As for the pairs meeting, please be aware that I have my 3 children with me, 2 of whom are autistic, so there may be delays at times. Also my wrist and hand is all splinted up so texting is taking longer plus it is also very painful...if it gets too painful, then I will run RR or a guest replacement (which ever is allowed under the rules). The likely guest replacement would be my eldest son James, who will come in on a 3 average as a raw beginner although he has trained at conference level in my car as my secretary.  Heat 1: Allen lost dirt defector Heat 5: Bad crash involing Kennett and Brucheiser..Luckily both up and seemingly ok all4back. Another bad crash. Brucheiser into fence ref excluded him but the crowd have saved him. Heat 9: Simon fell to be re-run with 3 only. Heat 12: Bad crah O Allen and Henka on one corner and T Allen on another. Re-run with all4. Stopped again T Allen hit fence. Olly excluded for causing little bro to fall. Heat 13: Simon didnt ride having some TLC. Heat 15: Stopped Kennett Slipped off. Stopped again Bridger helped Kennett to fall. Stopped AGAIN Frampton fell AND AGAIN. Kennett fell again and has been excluded by Public vote. We may get this race done tonight but get ur pipe and slippers ready. Simon withdrawn from meeting. LCQ: KENNETT, HENKA, FRAMPTON, ROYNON. Henka getting some TLC. Henka non-starter in re-run. Stopped again Frampton fell all 3 back for re-run. Final: Over 6 laps: Bridger, Mcconnell, Roynon, Kennett.  Thanks for watching and goodnight. See you at Newport for the New Year Classic
Scott0311
Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed the action on Sunday at Brighton. As has been said no quarter given and proof if it was ever needed that you do not need the "big" names to have a couple of exciting meetings. One of the best Brightons yet
Silver Bee
Cracking day out this year, far better than certainly last year.  Might 'only be a bit of fun' but the bias shown towards Kennett, Bridger and Duggard is a bit ridiculous  I genuinely hope that's not the last time that I get to watch Henka race too  Well done to Mr. Roynon who got the hang pretty quickly, and also Jordan Frampton who was superb too. crazysue
Agree with the others, what it lacked in the social side this year was certainly made up for in the entertainment. Â The lack of big names never worried me either, I like my Brighton experience to be one of seeing new riders to these shores or riders I tend not to get to see that often (Prem etc). Â Really impressed by Henka (more so because I had him in a sweepstake and was odd's on to get some pennies until he crashed out!), he really seemed to get the measure of the track. Roynon,Frampton and T allen also impressed and say what you like about Kennett and Bridger on Brighton day but I think they add to the 'different' kind of speedway on offer .....pantomime dames anyone! colincooke
What a cracking day, & cracking company too.Isn't that right guys Buy the way did you know it's an offence to jump, dive or swim off the pier(private joke ).Adam was superb, hope he does it again & mixes with moaner Kennett & Lewis big time.Sorry to see Olly in the wars again but at least it's only concussion. Henka, what a legend. Those 140cc bikes finally look as if British speedway is moving forward for the kids, let's hope Hagon & Martin Dugard get the backing from the BSPA that's required. Guest sjl
Thoroughly enjoyed the day great fix of speedway prior to the real thing. A VERY UNBIASED final.!!! Well done to Adam Roynon on his achievement (hopefully just warming up before joining the BEES) Good to meet crazysue and boys. Next stop Newport!!! TwoMinuteWarning
Anybody know how long was that track? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>  I believe the track is about 120 mt, but I don't think it's officially measured.  The crowd seemed about the usual, around 2,000 each show at a guess.  Have to agree that Kennett and Bridger add to the entertainment. Certainly have some "attitude" in their riding  Felt a bit sorry for all the Brummie fans, coming all that way to see Jason travel about 30 metres  Still, I hope they enjoyed the event. Mr.Hagon's stunning announcement rather stole the show though, I thought! Edited December 10, 2007 by TwoMinuteWarning
Rob B
Was my 10th Brighton and got to say I'm seriously getting bored of it now and obviously a lot of other people are too judging by the attendance. I have never seen empty seats on the south side before but yesterday it was only about three quarters full. You could tell how few people were there by looking around the foyer beforehand, one shop owner said he hadn't sold enough stuff to cover his petrol down there. Â This year the event had a rebrand but the format seriously needs looking at. I said last week the lineup was poor and it was, Poles that no one has heard of, we don't need top GP riders but a decent lineup who can ride a small track and entertain. I said last week only Dugard and Kennett were going to win it and when Dugard was injured was obvious Kennett was going to win it. Plus the Eastbourne bias by Kevin Coombes is very irritating. Â One of the main reasons a lot of riders won't do it now though is injuries, by the end of the two meetings yesterday there were 5 or 6 riders with injuries, thats why a lot of riders turn it down now, I've spoken to several riders and know that for a fact. Â That heat 15 which was rerun 6 times was ridiculous, Kennett should have been excluded the first time and eventually was excluded after wasting half an hour.
