beegee
I was almost afraid to watch after the first three heats. It was great to meet London Witch at last and to see Star Lady again after such a long time . Oh, and Steve Shovlar . Disappointed that Tomas didn't qualify, but Pepe deserved the win, he rode brill, and wow, Kaj really surprised me, he was in the same sort of form as he rode in the SWC, brill . Gutted for Lukas. This even puts his 2004 GP place in jeopardy if he's out for the rest of the season :-( . Anyone got any news on Seb? Seb Ulamek has a broken bone in his hand. London Witch
Another brilliant day out. The fact the meeting lasted for 3and a half hours doesn't matter at all when you're in such good company. So thanks to all my Forum friends for that Was great to meet The Stranger and Steve Shovlar for the first time.(I agree with you Gem, Steves very nice and not at all scary, in fact very friendly ). It was a very nasty accident involving PK and Lukas, not one you'd like to witness very often. Hope they both recover soon. Was great to see Joonas and Matej getting a chance although the circumstances could have been better. Well done to Pepe, a thoroughly deserved win. Jo_1515
Good meeting. Nice to meet all the Forum people that I already know and also Star Lady. Can't believe how long it went on for! The crash in heat 3 was awful. Such a shame for Lukas after just coming back from the horrific accident in Slovenia. Was great to see Pepe win. I was so happy He has really come on this year. Last year he could ride P'boro and was a load of rubbish everywhere else. This year he is scoring everywhere he goes and is even riding the small tracks well. What a star! Also well done to Jesper. He looked better than I've ever seen him before.
frigbo
Must agree with ROG H, a pretty uninspiring set of qualifiers. well done to them anyhow, but can't see any enhancing the GP setup next year.
Steve Turner
A good day out, thanks to the Forum I think I spotted 30 of us in total ! The 6 that qualified were the 6 that deserved it. As for Simon Stead, face facts, he's already been knocked out of the qualifying rounds twice this year. Just how many chances does he NEED ! He should never have been given the place when Howe pulled-out. For various reasons it could have gone to either Nicholls, Richardson, Robson, Barker, Norris, Havelock, Screen, Harris etc etc. Tut-tut. As for the racing, it was certainly rough and tough. Some good moves, some surprises and personally it was a shame that Janniro didn't make it, but he just wasn't up to the job. Charlie Gjedde's tactics were obvious...hit and hope  It didn't work ! 8)
Steve Shovlar
Must agree with ROG H, a pretty uninspiring set of qualifiers. well done to them anyhow, but can't see any enhancing the GP setup next year. And who exactly would you have wanted through? They were the pick of the bunch, and if you think someone like Gjedde deserved a spot, well he was out of his depth yesterday and not worthy of a qualifying spot. same goes for BJ who made up the numbers. Only shocks were PK, Ulamek and L Dryml, and the later should hopefully get an automatic seed as he would have been there but for his injuries. PK also deserved a spot, and was favourite to win the meeting. Ulamek started brightly but faded, and all the others missed out because they were not good enough! Easy tiger , don't recall making any reference to Charlie deserving a spot at all. I just think these 6 will weaken the competition as a whole, mainly because riders of a better calibre will be dropping out of this years competition. I believe the qualification system needs looking at to ensure as near to the best riders in the world as possible participate in the GP's. salty
Frigbo The trouble is that a number of GP riders don't go through the qualifying process. The way the Gp standings are at the moment, riders such as Bajerski, Max,Jonsson,Lyons,Cegielski,Loram and Richardson will be left hoping for a seeding for 2004. Add to these PK and possibly Lukas. If Lukas falls out of the top 10 then Bajerski is most likely to replace him, leaving 6 of the other 7 names above to hope for a seeding(depending on Cegielski's fitness) Who else would you think is worthy of a GP spot? I think of the riders who qualified Pepe is much improved, Kaj deserves his chance, Bo has been unlucky this year in the GP's and his SWC showing was excellent. Think Jesper and Ales may struggle but that is a view coloured by their recent EL struggles.

Hanne
hmmmmmmmm......seems Steady was "helped" off his bike, then excluded by the danish referee........this ensured the DANISH Jesper B the 6th qualifying spot..................hmmmmmmmmmmmm Simon Stead was robbed of at least a runoff for 6th place by a referee from Denmark. :x Stead was on gate 4, and pushed out to the fence on the first bend by Dubrucki. He had to go down or through the fence. The ref excluded Stead and the crowd was in uproar. :-( A terrible decision that left Jensen of Denmark through. Luckily the ref wasn't lynched. Does any of you guys know who was the referee :?:
rabbit
Hanne, it was Brian Svendsen. Have you heard of him :?:
Hanne
Hanne, it was Brian Svendsen. Have you heard of him :?: Yes i have..he's comes from Slangerup, like i do! Which is not something i'm proud of if it's true that Simon Stead was excluded, so Jesper would get through...that makes me really mad :x There should always be fair play from a referee, nomatter where he is from.. bartosch
Hi bartosch, glad you enjoyed it. Was you one of the Poles wearing an Ipswich race jacket? No :-o but I saw this crazy guy's on the first bend. I was wearing an Polish t-shirt and I had Polish scarf of course, on the stadium I bought Pirates shirt and Adams baseball cap (Leigh was a Motor Lublin's rider on 90' years with Hans Nielsen...) regards! Star Lady
Just got back after taking in the IOW meeting last night. Not a lot I can add to the comments above really. Horrendous crash, so pleased they both came out relatively unscathed, I thought for a while that it was going to be far far worse. I've just looked at the pics on Mike Patricks site and they don't convey half of the carnage that occured. If as looks likely Lukas is out for the rest of the season I can think of no more deserving candidate for a pemanent wild card for next years GP. The big question is why was there no air fence :?: , the prices were certainly high enough and I was told they were that high to pay for the air fence. It seems daft to me that the meeting that includes the most desperate riders( I don't mean that in a derogatory sense) and is obviously going to have a few crashes has no air fence. The atmosphere was great on Sunday, the Poles were amazing, how that guy wore that large black curly wig all afternoon in that heat baffles the heck out of me :? The meeting took ages to run but that was no fault of the organisers. The front rows of the stand were like a sauna. One complaint tho, we are always hearing from Mr Shovlar that Poole are the best at promoting, they did nothing for the fans on Sunday. Maybe they should have a word with the Workington promotion on how to entertain the crowd. One bouncy castle didn't exactly do a lot for the vast majority did it? Compare that to the Pairs, where we were treated to a Band, a soloist and a firework display and I think maybe Matt Ford needs to learn a thing or two from the Premier League. Good to meet up with so many of you again and a few new forum members too, I think the Steve Shovlar Appreciation Society is growing BTW Stranger and It Mas Wife my daughter was unsuccessful in her kidnap attempt :-(
