Pinny
Probably because it contains a few bits of nonsense. Buzz Burrows, Britains most exciting rider of modern times?! LOL. Would of sounded far better to of said "one of Britains most exciting riders". I have never found Burrows to be exciting in 11 years of watching the sport. Agree he deserves a testomonial though. Well done, out of all of the thousands of postings ever made on the BSF you have just contributed by far the most mean-spirited and pathetic. I hope you are proud of yourself

squall
What's it got to do with Machin and Godfrey? When has Buzz rode for Sheffield or Scunthorpe? I agree he deserves a meeting as he's a top bloke who will always stop and chat with anyone (it's usually my dad who stops Buzz from leaving!) but I don't see why a team he hasn't rode for should make room for a meeting

lucifer sam
Was Buzz not meant to have one at Wimbledon a few years back that got rained-off a couple of times ? Paulco, it was rained off, I believe, three times in 2004. The Wimbledon promotion then neglected to restage in the meeting in 2005, and Buzz has been let down ever since then. A real shame, becuase Buzz is a great character and racer (and nutter ), who throroughly deseves a testimonial meeting. If you actually ever knew what you were talking about, Rob, you'd be quite dangerous... In this instance again you don't. I'd advise NOT making comments which are as uninformed as this. No-one at Wimbledon "let down" Buzz in 2005.. If you don't want to take my word for it just ask the man himself...

Parsloes, so how come no fewer than seven challenge matches / open meetings were held at Plough Lane during the 2005 season. Surely just one of these could have been given over to Buzz, to let him stage his meeting. Please explain to me why just one of those dates wasn't given to Buzz. And then I'll be informed, won't I? Surely just one of these could have been given over to Buzz, to let him stage his meeting. Please explain to me why just one of those dates wasn't given to Buzz. And then I'll be informed, won't I? All the best Rob Hmm, well the decision on when to have a Testimonial is actually a personal one so I don't actually see why you don't respect that. But as you are, as usual, like a dog with a bone over this, I'll explain: the family wanted to maximise income (clearly a vital part of any benefit meeting) from the event and none of the dates in 2005 matched this. The event has to be organised well in advance - you'll find that none of the challenges/individuals held that season actually were. So it was decided (by Buzz and his family NOT the promotion) to wait until the opening meeting of 2006. Out of the blue, as the whole Speedway world knows, the GRA pulled the plug in the very last days of the 2005 season and no 2006 season at Plough Lane was to happen. Buzz sat out 2006; was back in action at Redcar/Cleveland in 2007; and then back with Stoke in 2008. Again a Testimonial was promised and was in very advanced stages of being arranged (riders invited; I know because I was heavily involved in this...) and this WAS planned for the opening meeting of Stoke's 2009 season. Unceremoniously though the Stoke promoter pulled the plug on THIS too. That WAS a massive example of a club which Buzz had served the longest of any letting him down. There you CAN with pleasure apportion blame and dish out censure. To Wimbledon you can't.
