ayp yorkshire fishcake, did you lobby the Stoke promotion last week?

Regards.

PS.

G/Day Spin King, did you know YFC's deen dossing about on Barrier Reff for last 4 months. It was that tuff a job, he had to have time off to go fishing in Europe. ... what is he like?

Wonder if the Stoke fans might lobby the Stoke promotion to get them to put on a meeting for Buzz, I am sure that it would be well attended.

I did see YFC, did not recognise him at first all sun tanned and a cross between an Aussie and Yorkshire accent.

buzz HAS TO have a testimonial!!

the fact that we kept having it rained off at plough lane was a realy bummer. But lets face it,testimonial and/or fairwell meeting- one rider that has to be on the guest list (providing he is fit) is armstrong!!

the many time we saw the two of them battling it out to win a heat on the small plough lane track, most of which buzz took armstrong on the line and once even having to go through the fence to stop.

those were the happy days for us Dons fans! :)

Parsloes, so the programmes in your attic will finally get used.

Is the meeting over a pairs format - and if so, will the pairings be programmed to have the same number of inside and outside gates. :P

All the best

Rob

What's the news on the testimonial for Buzz? I thought it was at Stoke in March, yet the fixtures don't seem to have a gap in March.

I read somewhere that it's off - don't know why?

If someone really deserves a Testimonial then its him.

As of yet I don't think he is set for a ride in 2009.

Obviously I am the person who posted earlier that the Testimonial was going to be Stoke's opening home meeting of 2009; and indeed that WAS for a long time going to be the case.

I learnt directly from the Stoke promotion a few weeks back that it was no longer their intention to offer up this date. It was said then that another early season date would be given; the fixtures now published, fly in the face of that though.

I certainly hope that a date at Loomer rd. later this year can be found for the benefit meeting his 20 plus years of riding entitles him to ...

Our sport certainly does shoot itself in the foot doesn't it? Can't think of many more deserving recipients of a Testimonial than Buzz and now it appears its gone missing again.

All this on top of the injustice of him not getting a team berth for 2009. What a reward for doing so well last year.:angry:

Sadly another year did pass by and a Testimonial Meeting for Buzz didn't happen. However the good news is that there will be a Testimonial Night for Buzz and this is confirmed for Saturday 6th March at St John`s Church Hall, 411 Malden Road, Worcester Park, Surrey KT4 7NY.

Start time will be 7.00pm and the evening will conclude at 11.00pm. Admission will be completely free although all those attending will be asked if they would donate a minimum of £5 to Buzz's testimonial fund.

Apart from the opportunity to meet Buzz and have your photo taken with him on his bike, we will be showing a recording of the last ever Speedway meeting to have been held at Plough Lane, the 2005 Laurels, won of course by Buzz, together with

other filmed highlights from Wimbledon's Conference League years.

We will also be selling copies of Buzz's special testimonial programme that was printed for his (three times.. rained off) Testimonial meeting and which for programme collectors has not yet been released. (It's resided in numerous boxes in my loft ever since!!)

To keep costs to a minimum everyone is invited to bring their own food and drink for the evening, which will be a great opportunity to meet up with old faces from the 2002 - 2005 period and to say thank you to a rider who without doubt

has in recent times been, "BRITAIN'S MOST EXCITING SPEEDWAY RIDER".

There is plenty off-street parking for those driving to the venue, while for those who want to come by public transport. the hall is only a few hundred yards from Worcester Park British Rail Station (frequent trains from Waterloo, Clapham Junction and Wimbledon).

Hope to see as many of you as possible on the 6th March. :approve:

Hmm, might have been nice if ANYONE had responded to the previous posting... But there you go.

Message from the event organisers:

We have a few items to auction off at Buzz's Testimonial Night. If any supporters have any items that they would also like to donate to raise funds for Buzz, could they please e-mail ianperkin@blueyonder.co.uk to make the necessary arrangements.

Don't forget the night takes place Saturday week 6th March at St John`s Church Hall, 411 Malden Road, Worcester Park, KT4 7NY.

Start time will be 7.00pm and the evening will conclude at 11.00pm. Admission is completely free although it is hoped that all those attending might make a minimum of £5 to Buzz's testimonial fund.
