Yes,i think Roman Akimenko always comes out as Novel Akimenko.Points always come out as glasses.When i saw that at first i wondered why a rider had received 12 glasses!!!!! :P Some translators are better than other,but you still end up with funny things you have to try and work out yourself.There seem to be limtis on how many word or on web-page translations they sometimes only translate half the page.One translator(Intertran?) doesn't want to translate riders names at all

As far as I know, there are four in Graham Halsall, Mark Uzzell, Roger Newton and Rob Irving, but Roger did say there were two others, one a mate of Rob, and the other someone from somewhere in the North. Perhaps Toonarmy could fill in the blanks. What about it, eh Malcolm? :D

BTW ToonArmy, are you planning to spanner during the Ice season?

The other rider (Robs Friend) Is called Kevin but I dont no anything else about him as I have never met him, but maybe there will be another 1 starting next year, I have trained before just gotta sort out finances now!!!

I hope to be in Assen and Berlin in March but im not sure about spannering yet because in December I will be off to Argentina for a few months.

Think I was right to tip Krasnikov. looks like he will be going for four in a row in 2008.

Anyone able to shed light on what happened to Laguta that he didn't ride? Did he turn up?

Franky Zorn will defend his Sanok Cup title in Poland. Also booked are Finland's Antti Aakko, together with Antonin and Jan Klatovsky of the Czech Republic.

I expect that all of them will ride in the European Championship that weekend.

Golden Spike 2008

05/01/08 - St. Johann (Austria)

06/01/08 - Steingarden (Germany)

18-19/01/08 - Flims (Switzerland)

just 3  :unsure:

According to the latest news on the Beru web-site dated today there will only be 1 Golden Spike meeting.To translate the article

For 2008 there were 4 meetings planned in the series.Steingaden(D),St.Johann(A),Flims(CH) and a meeting in Finland.Because of the very high price of petrol the nominated riders ruled a meeting in Finland out.

MSC Steingaden decided to run their own Open meeting on the 6th january.And so St.Johann and Flims decided to put the series on ice :P and like this year just run the one meeting.That will be on the 19th january at Flims.

And then a bit about the decision not to run a meeting at Erfurt because of Easter/Assen/Berlin,no date could be found

(iris123 @ Nov 24 2007, 05:07 PM)

Because of the very high price of petrol the nominated riders ruled a meeting in Finland out.

"My" club was asked to organize such an event, but I dont think we've yet heard the actual sum that it would have cost us. The "rumoured" sum was close to being ridicolous.

I spoke to someone from the Assen club last year as to why they had decided against the Golden spike and was told that there were a number of factors, one being cost and the other was they weren't allowed to nominate any up and coming riders. They were being dictated to as to who would ride, so they dropped out of the circuit. As it was they had quite a spectacular meeting last year on the Friday night.

Oh well, I better do a follow up on the Golden Spike, as I put it in the Star last week :oops: :oops:

Day 4

1.P.Tschajka- [3,3,3,3,3] = 15

2.N.Krasnikov - [3,3,2,3,3] = 14

3.D.Ivanov-[3,3,1,3,3] = 13

4.I.Ivanov- [3,2,3,2,2] = 12

5.V.Khomitsevitch-[2,3,2,сх,2] = 9

6.D.Khomitsevitch- [2,2,3,2,0]= 9

7.R.Akimenko- [2,0,2,3,1]= 8

8.M.Bogdanov- [1,1,3,1,2]= 8

9.J.Tuinstra- [2,1,1,2,1]= 7

10.G.Bauer-[1,2,1,1,2] = 7

11.G.Laguta-[0,2,2,1,1] = 6

12.D.Bulankin-[1,1,1,0(А),3] = 6

13.D.Tschatschin-[1,1,0,нс,1] = 3

14.M.Kreklau-[0,0,0,2,0] = 2

15.J.Polikarpov- [0,0,нс,1,нс] = 1

16.M.Baraboshkin- [сх,нс,сх,нс,нс] = 0

And overall

1.N.Krasnikov = 27 + 29 = 56

2.P.Tschajka = 23 + 28 = 51

3.D.Ivanov = 19 + 24 = 43

4.V.Khomitsevitch = 19 + 20 = 39

5.I.Ivanov = 20 + 19 = 39

6.D.Khomitsevitch= 20 + 18 = 38

7.M.Baraboshkin = 23 + 14 = 37

8.M.Bogdanov = 22 + 8 = 30

9.G.Bauer = 17 + 12 = 29

10.J.Tuinstra = 9 + 13 = 22

11.R.Akimenko= 3 + 18 = 21

12.D.Bulankin = 9 + 10 = 19

13.D.Tschatschin = 11 + 7 = 18

14.G.Laguta = 13 = 13

15.M.Kreklau = 6 + 4 = 10

16.J.Polikarpov = 6 + 3 = 9

Can anything be taken from these results?Well looks like Krasnikov is the man to beat again.I think Tschajka and Baraboshkin always do well here but end up failing when it counts.Pity to see Dimon so low down.Bauer the best of the foreign riders,but not looking like he will put up much of a challenge.Are we relying on Zorn to challenge the Russians again or will Bauer come good?
