And the comment on isracing.net that Flyktmann was leading heat 6 yesterday when his tyre went and he crashed out.Well the extra two points for Finland would have made it very tight. But they are looking strong today

Unfortunately i lost my internet conection at the end and had to go out to the Ice Hockey(Hamburg 7-Berlin 1 !!!! :o ).But Roth won his heat and has 3 points.Haven't checked the others though

Had a look on Speedway.org as bablefish is playing up.

Ht 29 appears to have been Bauer in for Roth, and Roth only scores a single when Tschatschin failed to score in Heat 34. I'll correct my scores.

That would make more sense(although don't know why Tschatschin wasn't in against the Austrians.Or to put it another way don't know why Roth was in  ).Though the Russian forum and the polish site have Roth winning and having 3 points. But looking at the race times document on the Russian forum it is as speedway.org has it

A-Final

Krasnikov,Zakharov,Baseev,Khomitsevich(F)

Seems from report on isracing.net Khomitsevich fell on the 3rd lap and has a collarbone injury.may put him out of the GPs if he needs an op.But was lucky as the ref didn't put the red light on and i guess the others carried on and could have hit him.

Taken from the Russian forum and passed through a translator

On the third circle it fell and, as it was explained more lately, sufficiently serious injury was obtained.

Drat - no brits.

But i hear one will be in the German championship in Berlin

Double Drat - I don't fly out until Saturday Morning!

As regards the president's Cup, don't they run that meeting on a track withing the track they will use for the World Championships? I'm sure Malcolm (ToonArmy) mentioned this last year.

Bad news if Vitali is out but good news for FSP as Antti Aakko will move up. Krasnikov looks like he is stepping up a gear and is out to retain his title. Franky Zorn will also need to step up if he wants to make a challenge this year.

Krasnikov to take the weekend, but Zorn and Aakko to be spoilers.

Aakko to be a spoiler... I wonder. He had his both engines (read two) re-built after Sanok and judging by the pictures his second bike is now ready too. He's also shown speed and manouvers that have been missing for a while. But to actually mix it with the Russians I wonder. Zorn on the other has mixed it with them in the past couple of years while Aakko has been fading. There are signs of Aakko coming back but we'll see. He's only 28, I didn't know that until recently. Comparing to Serenius (which really cant be done) he still has time.

Serenius has ridden in as many World finals/GP-series as I've had birthdays. Thats another thing realised recently.

EDIT: Now I know why Zorn always has a hat on... He cant afford a haircut!

EDIT2: I've started practising to challenge for a team place in next years team champs. Got myself new kevlars and all...

Great performance from Franky to get second place in Russia.Krasnikov looks to be way out in front of the rest again.Pity poor Vitali, who would have been one of his main rivals getting injured days before.

Thanks for that Doug, had to go shopping this afternoon (if I want to go to Assen and Berlin) so many thanks for the update!

By my Spreadsheet I make the standings as follows:

1 Nikolai Krasnikov Rus 25

2 Franz Zorn A 20

3 Danil Ivanov Rus 18

4 Maxim Sakharov Rus 16

5 Stanislav Archipov Rus 14

6 Dmitri Khomitsevich Rus 13

7 Ilya Drozdov Rus 12

8 Pavel Tschajka Rus 11

9 Harald Simon A 10

10 Gunter Bauer D 9

11 Per-Olof Serenius S 8

12 Antonin Klatovsky CzR 7

13 Johnny Tuinstra NL 6

14 Stefan Svensson S 5

15 Dmitri Tschatchin D 4

16 Vitali Khomitsevich Rus 3

Great result for Franky - Krasnikov will be watching out for him now, as Zorn is good around Assen and Berlin. I do think Vitali rode to keep his name on the sheet, as he will sit out Tomorrow, and get two weeks recovery.

Aakko to do well tomorrow, f-s-p?
