JulieR
I have been asked by former Bradford rider David Walsh to post this message: "Following a practice session earlier this week David Walsh has reluctantly withdrawn after being pencilled in to ride during the Garry Stead Grand Prix at Owlerton on Thursday. However, in support of Garry, and as a contribution to the collective efforts at raising funds to help with his rehabilitation, David’s 1997 Bradford Dukes body jacket is being auctioned on eBay to coincide with Garry’s benefit night. The auction will end the following evening, Friday 24 and the proceeds will be donated to the “Garry Stead Benefit Fund.” Garry was a member of the Bradford team in 1997, the year the Dukes won the inaugural Elite League Championship. Now, the tenth anniversary of that successful campaign and, sadly, the closure of Bradford Speedway, all interested fans can be confident that the jacket represents a collectable item of speedway memorabilia. Former Bradford supporters will recall the Dukes sported differently coloured body jackets for home and away meetings in 1997. The one David has available was used for home meetings at Odsal and is race jacket number 2. The jacket can be viewed now on eBay – lot # 190142324925. Thank you." We would like to thank David for his generosity. Julie Reading Garry Stead Benefit Committee
