But the speedway world cup in 2005 at sweden in the final race with adams, gollob, scmiloski and Karlsson is as good as 2001.

It was an awesome race between gollob and adams!

English commentary

if i'm not mistaken Gollob also had a superb heat against Tony R the same night and i think Gollob won that one as well with a centimeter or two.

1999 - they showed it on the GP on Saturday night.

Rico

Yes the infamous move where everyone is thinking 'Where the f**k is Gollob going?'' and off he goes to China and back picking up loads of speed and then pips Nilsen on the line.

In some respects that race is more about the occasion and if I am not mistaken it's probably Gollob highest ever point - he was doing superbly well in the grand scale of things and I think many after that night thought Gollob was set to be World Champion.

In the same element, Harris's move and race is all about the circumstance. Britain having a very barren run for a GP winner in front of the biggest crowd for a long time in Britain.

I remember watching Gollob in 2003 Bydgoszcz. First year I started watching Speedway, I was utterly amazed. Last year's heat with Jagus, Adams, Hampel and Jonsson was great.

Slovenian GP, can't remember when. Grand Final, Sullivan, Gollob, Loram and Jonsson. Sully and Gollob at it for 4 laps, coming off the last bend Gollob, on the inside, pulls a wheelie and crosses the line virtually dead level with Sully. After looking at several replays the ref awards it to Sully. If Gollob hadn't pulled the wheelie, he would've won

Quite a few to choose from but I think the winner for me was the final from Linkoping in 99 when Loramski (as a wildcard) passed Trick and had a huge battle with Nilsen for 3 laps before having him on the final bend leaving the whole of Sweden dumbfounded and Millard losing his voice. B)

Great race. From a wildcard too :D I showed that in school when I had to do my class talk and spoke about speedway, I did the build up about how eh had failed to qualify for the GP's after a bad year, he had been given a one of chance to impress by the organisers and this was the final etc. Went down well.

What about Jimmy & Tomasz final lap, was it 2002?
As Rico says, it was shown the other night. A great ride. I remember Jimmy Nilsen saying in the Speedway Star he closed his eyes around the 3rd and 4th bend as as he Gollob fly past him going into the bend and he coudl not believe both got out of the 4th bend upright :)

There's always my personal favourite:

Superb :approve:

Good choice - I never tire of watching that one - I know some knocked the commentary but I think it adds to the whole excitement of the race
I've discussed this with others, if you tried to write commentary for that heat, you couldn't! It's brilliant, so glad Millard was not there to spoil it.

  was pretty good as well.

Neither of them really do it for me...riders picking bad lines on the bends

Loram at Linkoping in '99 was a blinder, especially after the mid-meeting storm ! But I'd need to see it again, cause you know what memories are like :P (If the vid's been posted, I missed it)

The Nilsen, Gollob race...great excitement trackside, even when very drunk ;) ...but more about determination and strength to hang on than trickery or skill.

Anyone who knows me, should know that I'm not patriotic...I don't support England in any sport, that's just how it is. And I'm trying to think of every big race I've seen, every Final, every title...

And I can honestly say that this year's Cardiff Final was the best 4 lap ride of any rider I've ever seen. It wasn't about the race, the other 3 did nothing of note...but the kid who missed the gate and worked his butt off to brilliantly and cleverly take the win, brought tears to my eyes and an everlasting memory that outshines any other.

So...not the best race of all time, but for me, the greatest ride ! B)

Stumbled across this cracker...

Greg should have been excluded, and Tomasz had one of his fake engine failures but apart from that what a race!!

Are there any to rival it?

I went to this meeting and it was one of the best GP's from what I can remember before the Lech took effect! Tomasz had another great ride that night in his race before the above beating Nicki Pedersen.. If anyone can find that race its well worth watching again..

Here's Mark at his very best. It's the '99 Swedish Final that got a mention.

Cracking ride by Mark, but the race as a whole can't match the one I originally posted. Same goes for Bomber at Cardiff. Sensational ride from him, and the most unbelievable emotion in the stadium. But it was all about one rider.

The one I posted owes it's brilliance to all four riders. I know I'm a little biased as 'my' boys came out on top, but that really was an awesome race. 100% commitment from all four. All of them holding every position in the race. You just have to take your hat off to the guys. Four abreast at those speeds takes big ones!!

Didn't see anything exciting about Lorams win but then again it's a Brit winning a GP so perhaps thats why :P

You didn't see him go from 3rd to first then?

He did that every week in the League. And before you all start, yes I do like Loram. The only British rider I've ever liked

If that was typical Loram and he did that every week yet you don't find it exciting, you surely don't find Loram exciting

Once you've seen it happen a billion times it does get a tad predictible. Anyway, fair play to him it was a decent ride. I noticed 1 of the opposition was Rickardsson but who was the other 2 as this happened around the time I first started getting into the sport

Thanks H. Pushing my luck a bit, I know, but does anyone have a picture or youtube footage of that, please?

Here :)
