Run-off for bonus point: Rune Holta, Greg Hancock

 

Elit Vetlanda took the lead in heat 3 with a Richardson/Jedrzejak 5-1 and were always in command after that. Rospiggarna, lead by captain fantastic Greg Hancock, fought hard to keep it close and a successful tactical substitute in heat 13 cut the home lead to only two points, 40-38.

 

Two consecutive 5-1's in heats 14 & 15 sealed two points for Elit Vetlanda but Greg Hancock forced a run-off for the bonus points as he beat Crump/Holta in heat 16. In heat 17 though, Rune Holta made the gate and defeated Hancock for the second time on the night.

 

For Elit Vetlanda,

Crump was good but probably not 100% fit after his surgery. Zabik blew a bit hot and cold but delievered two crucial double victories throughout the night. Richardson had an solid point production so was OK, but his exclusion could have been costly for the home side. Jedrzejak lacks speed but at least he is fighting. Holta did a good job and won some points from the back. Jankowski started slow overall but blasted past McGowan and Messing in the second reserve heat for a paid win. Jonasson was extremely unlucky, he blew two engines but came out on Holta's spare bike and won heat 11.

 

For Rospiggarna,

Hancock was excellent, sharp from the gate as usual and kept Rospiggarna in the meeting for as long as he could. Miedzinski was always in contention for the points. Kolodziej was somewhat better than the score suggests but lacked speed to match the home riders. Skornicki had a couple of gifted points. Davidsson had a couple of 'dud' heats but proved how good he can be as he held off Crump ni heat 10. McGowan rode much better in Vetlanda last year, didn't do much this time, at least not considering he was at reserve. Messing had a night to forget.

 

Man of the match: Greg Hancock

 

Most exciting rider: Thomas H Jonasson (as he turned Adam Skornicki inside out on the last bend in heat 5 despite losing his steel shoe earlier in the heat)
