tas
well done to Nicki really would have liked to see Bomber get it. Glad they turned the ploughed field around. It turned out to be a good meeting.
keepturningleft
I don't doubt that the promoters have improved the main part of the Kings Lynn stadium, but what a horrible mess the centre area looks! What happened to the grass? The whole starting gate area looked like a big splodge of mud and looked most unappealing on TV.

mikec
Despite the best efforts of Watt, Harris, McGowan & Nicholls, tonight's meeting & the circumstances surrounding it were an utter embarrassment. Maybe expecting the best racers in the league to compete against each other (Grand Prix apart) at the moment is too much to expect.
db310777
I know it has been mentioned once but the floodlight at KL are awful, really dark around the bends on tv, at least now with all the takings from 2 super 7 events there thay may do something about it, unless profits are given to sheffield from tonight
BigFatDave
Waste of a good thread - page upon page of whingeing Pommy Rot! Â Well done to all concerned taking part, pity about those who can't enjoy speedway, I feel so sorry for them. Maybe a new Forum for Knockers, Has-beens and Never-weres is in order? Mr Chips
The ELRC has just lost what little bit of credibility it had.It has disintegrated into an utter utter farce, just like the British final.Once again speedway presents it'self as a laughing stock. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Â Â Thats what you get when you put all the power in one mans hands just for once why dont the bspa ask the fans what they want. I remember Buster selling lamp standards in the Speedway Star quite a few years ago. Despite the apparent improvement, it's still dark in certain areas. Maccas
Got back from the meeting a couple of minutes ago and I gotta say although the riding wasnt great viewing I enjoyed my night out I was very worried after the first couple of heats as the track was terrible, but they really improved it with that bit of work  The only thing that did kinda bug me was that you could tell a couple of the riders couldnt really be that bothered. I dont know whether Andersen was having problems after his concussion but he looked really apathetic today  Well impressed by Batchelor, Topinka etc though, they really put the effort in
Star Fever
mr chips why dont the bspa ask the fans what they want. Surely what the fans want is entertaining speedway. After the first 5 farcical heats (when the track was in a condition I've certainly never seen before at Lynn* - but then this was a bspa promoted event) isnt that what the fans got? Those attending seemed satisfied (albeit deserving of a 25% refund) and the Sky people certainly seemed satisfied - so job done I'd say (eventually). *Edit : Since the days of Mr Wagstaff that is.....  db310777 I know it has been mentioned once but the floodlight at KL are awful, really dark around the bends on tv Can't say I noticed any problem on the bends - nor was there when Lynn featured on Sky's EL coverage all those years ago. And these were the same lights once used at Hackney for the GP - can't recall any problems then either.  Perhaps you ought to turn the brightness up on your tv? superguest
The meeting was ok after they sorted the track out. Just dont know why they didnt do it before?
Trees
You have to say though that since the track has been sorted out the racing has been excellent. Credit where it's due. YES credit where it is due, Buster was big enough to say it was his fault when interviewed by MB too, he admitted that he put too much water on the track. They worked hard and sorted it, the riders were confident on it and the racing was good, nobody can dispute that can they???????? A few passes out of the top drawer  Glad the one Swindon rider who turned up did go for it (even though he never once did a victory lap after winning a race!!)  I think Bomber and Davey Watt got the biggest cheers of the night, Bomber for being Bomber and Watto for going hell for leather and passing Nicki (although all the Nicki fans insist he let Watto past!! )  Great to see Troy racing round Lynn again, hope he enjoyed his night  Better say congratulations to Nicki, good gate in the final and couldn't be touched.  Felt the ref made two bad decisions, excluding TT when we felt it should have been all4back and Trav for exceeding two mins after he'd just finished a race (would hate to think it was because of SKY being present cos it spoiled his night!)  Fantastic crowd, I hope they can forgive the Lynn management for the start of the proceedings and remember this ELRC for the racing that was dished up after the track was sorted!!! The only thing that did kinda bug me was that you could tell a couple of the riders couldnt really be that bothered. I dont know whether Andersen was having problems after his concussion but he looked really apathetic today So are you giving him the benefit of the doubt or not?? I would have thought Andersen always gives 100% if ok yeah? Perhaps his manager can put the record straight??

When waiting around the pits before the meeting started he was looking like he was in a bit of discomfort and upon getting back to the pits after one of his 0 rides he was seriously annoyed with himself but a couple of the rides he just seemed like he wasnt putting that much effort in  though really with how much this competition seems to mean to most of the riders I am surprised that so many put the effort  Major Kudos to Lindgren for travelling into the country to ride tonight too

Shortcrust
The meeting was ok after they sorted the track out. Just dont know why they didnt do it before? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Â As was said earlier, Buster admitted to making a serious mistake in overwatering the track too close to the start of the meeting. He took the entire blame, so for those having a dig at JC and the rest of the promotion, totally unfounded. Â Very pleased Nicki won , Davey was awesome and Harris looked good for maybe his first go around the Arena (correct me if I'm wrong). Nicki was great with the fans on centre afterwards, took a good while signing autographs and having photos taken, whilst Mr Adams heard to say 'the crowds are coming in, I'm off'!!! Â Not a lot else to say except if tonight's meeting was that bad then let it go back to an EL track if it makes most people happy. Tamtig
I went to this meeting but also taped it. I can honestly say that the Sky coverage did no justice to the meeting. In my opinion there was nothing wrong with the lighting, and with the new improvements to the stadium viewing was not a problem. Didn't like the Sky view from high up, the riders were so far away it didn't seem so good (but I guess for a start the riders were so spread out it was the only way to fit them all in the same shot )  As everyone has said, the first few heats were not representative of King's Lynn. The track is usually a hundred times better. I guess it was just a one off but seeing as it was on Sky it's just gathered more attention. I admit we did spend the first 5 heats wishing we had stayed home but there were a few good heats.  Thought the ref made a completely good decision in the race where two riders had to be excluded, although his decision to exclude Topinka imo was wrong. Was so funny to see Topinka run to the phone then he had to ask someone what the number was for the ref!  Also good to see (well hear) David Norris was commentating. In my opinion he is by far the best commentator . He has the experience and knowledge but at the same time he manages to be funny and says it how he sees it. Unlike Kelvin who spends the meeting sat on the fence trying to be impartial.   Although I think Sky has helped the promotion of the sport hugely, there's one small thing that annoys me. When a rider is coming to the tapes Sky put that facts things about them with a photo, and statistics. I can't stand it when they put that about a quarter of the way in so you have a view of about a foot of track, then this red thing then the rider. It looks so much more proffesional having this at the far left of the screen. Maybe I'm just fussy but I can't help pont it out everytime I see it. lol  The view of the stadium from the high camera made the arena look beige I agree the centre green looks better green but maybe it's more practical for the various number of motoring events there to have it concrete.
