Swedish Elitserien Round 12

Recommended Posts

yaeh as is aid his first season was quite good with 67+23 points in 11 meetings.

Then i dont know what happened he scored very few points the following years probably beasue he turned up with engines only suitable for english tracks. A story that has been repeated several times for Smederna with David, Carl Stonehewer, Shaun tacey (actually he rode for T Bikab in Allsvenskan) and this year Andre Compton.

Fair enough. Well I only used David Howe as an example. There are others. Adam Shields for instance. Solid heat leader in the BEL, often rides as no 5 for Lakeside. Struggles to beat junior reserves in Sweden. Why? I really don't know.

Previously sixth place Elit Vetlanda took three vital points against seventh place Piraterna to gain two places in the standing. However, the Pirates started the meeting best to get a 15-9 lead with some help as Hampel had an engine failure while leading heat three. The (bad) luck was then returned when Max suffered an engine failure on a 5-1 with Walasek in heat seven to keep Elit Vetlanda in the lead.

The bad luck wasn't over for Piraterna who saw Balinski break his footrest in heat ten to stop Piraterna to tie the score at the interval. After the same, Elit Vetlanda were the better team and just when Piraterna had made a successful tactical move in heat 13 to keep them in the meeting (40-38), the home side returned the favour as the team riding pair of Holta/Richardson headed Sullivan home in heat 14.

Piraterna suffered some bad luck when trying to regain the lead and tie the meeting in heats 7 and 10 respectively. One never know what might have happened if they had scored points in those heats. In the end, I think Elit Vetlanda was the better team on the night with an strength in depth performence as only Rune Holta produced a double digit score.

For Elit Vetlanda,

Richardson did one gate all night so had to work from behind to score his points, good trying efforts by him. Zabik started like a train but faded, still shows what a valuable contributor he will be for this team. Hampel had his ups and downs, unlucky in his first, overall a decent performence. Jedrzejak was OK, did a good second string job. Holta was fast all night and seems to be in tremendous form. Jonasson started slow but made a lightning start in heat 11 and had an easy win there, could need a bit more consistency at home, comes with the confidence I guess. Jankowski didn't look particulary fast tonight and may have had some easy points, but he did produce an important 5-1 when it was needed the most, in heat five, to get Elit Vetlanda back into the meeting. A solid reserve.

For Piraterna,

Bjerre looked very fast throughout the meeting but couldn't quite make his speed count for passes. Szczepaniak had a difficult job from the body of the team, as expected. Walasek had his best meeting in Vetlanda for a while, worth all he got. Max blew hot and cold but was unlucky in his third and was actually worth more than he got tonight. Sullivan was like a rocket from the gate and scored many points thanks to that, has definitely taken a step forward again for this season. Ingesson was never in it. Balinski, well, I had expected a bit more to be honest. He wasn't bad in any way and he had some bad luck, but still...

Man of the match: Rune Holta

Most exciting rider: Lee Richardson

So, am I to assume that if this is a league where riders of the standard of Simon Stead, Travis McGowan, Chris Harris and Damien Balinski are all reserves then it is much stronger than the British Elite or do I assume the presence of Adrian Miedzinski, Adam Skornicki, Krzysztof Buczkowski, Michal Szczepaniak in the main body of the teams (and I did not mean to pick on the Poles) means simply that different riders perform well in Sweden to Britain.

From what I can gather the gap between the "Haves" and the "Have nots" is far wider in Sweden than it is in UK.

Västervik & Dackarna = Man Utd/Chelsea.

Kaparna & Indianerna = Wigan/Charlton.

I'm pretty sure Stead & McGowan wouldn't be at reserve if they called a different track home.

Swindon would give any team except Vastervik & Dackarna a run for their money.

well i dont really agree it depends on what kind of track a meeting would be held at but i'm quite sure that most Elitserien Teams would win on their home track.

On swindons track it would a much harder fight of course and in that case maybe only top 4 would manage win.

IMO you are looking through those specs again in Britain. The reason Stead, Mcgowan and Harris are reserves in the Elitserien are their averages. If you need a reality check the result from the SWC is on another thread.

No, they wouldn't. And I'm not talking about british tracks here, which could alter things. All I'm saying is this, if the seven boys of Swindon were a Swedish Elite team they would lose almost every match.

Yes, one would assume it would be time to nominate our riders but I haven't heard anything. I'll see if I can find something out.
