British Under 15's Championship 2007

"p'boro lad

I only mentioned Adam as you were the No No on the 250/500 mix and you still have not told me why you think that a 14 year old should not be allowed to ride both classes. Answers please."

As states in the "Lets Get It Sorted" thread:-

Under 15's is classed in 4 groups as per Speedway rule 19.5

up to 8th Birthday - 80cc

aged 9 & 10 - 125cc

aged 11,12 & 13 - 250cc

aged 14 & 15 - 500cc

This is why a 14 year old shouldn't ride in 250's plus I feel that if you've took the plunge and got a 500 licence and spent the last 2/3 years racing in the U15's on a 500 and the numbers drop or you think they will drop, you've basically made your bed. Why drop down to a class that you are too old for and that is now the enforced way forward? The class is for up and coming riders not established ones so basically I'm saying whatever age, if you have a 500 licence you should stick to 500 racing.

The class isn't really policed very well rumours of illegal carbs being used for the 250's, a fact that I have heard and can only say that last year the carbs were only checked at Redcar after a whole summer of racing, also I know of Vega racing working on a 250 with all the trick parts in, as the fella that looks after Adams grass bike has told me about this engine being done as he and Vega do alot together (wether the engine was/is for grass or speedway I do not know or for who it is for so not pointing any fingers) perhaps this could be a reason for lack of entries??. But with the engines not being checked or simple rules not enforced how can there be true championship racing when you can spend time wondering if you are/were betten by a better rider or a tuned engine when the rules plainly state no tuning, standard parts, Jawa flat slide carb with 200 jet.

Unfortunatley we have all invested in bikes, engines, etc. You've had 2 U15's this year, bad I know after last years series. We never did any because of the distance involved and lack of notice for the need to arrange cover for our busiest night/s of the week so we could get to the meeting. We are waiting to see if the next round is at Oxford on a Sunday, if it is we will be there if we are allowed after the so called racing with the breakaway group. We as group of parents are lucky enough to have a couple of dads that have been able to get some second half rides around a few tracks and the promoters have embraced us, and for a couple of hours every now and then the boys are made to feel important, it hasn't been done to get at anyone or to make anyone look bad, but if it hadn't have been done our lads would have to make do with a few training schools and mascot rides. Sorry if any of this has upset you or anyone else I haven't deliberatly set out to do that but as you said it is a forum for open speech and opinions.

Glad to see your coping, the main reason numbers are down is due to the fact that if people buy bikes etc were do they train on them you and i know that training is few and far between and when they are on who helps. I have nothing against mr oakes and as you say his record stands for itself but in my mind a development officer helps bring kids into the sport and helps them with the learning side. Not just meetings for those who can ride. I also would like to add that a u15 british championships should be a one off meeting like the u18,u21 and senoir title were everyone on the day has a chance.

cheers neil

Ok that was comfortable,

Martin, As a friend and experienced Dad your posts as usual are very acurate and to the point.Yes you are correct in that Oakes has his hands full this year.BUT he is capable of mastering all his commitments if the entries to events stimulates his ego. The BSPA will not find anyone who has the history and commitment that Peter has.He brought Crump and Sully into our world and at Peterboro and Swindon was a master.Coventry is his Latest conquest with Oxford getting near  and traveling with the euro under 18's and 21's who have done well this year has taken its toll.Laurence has said that he will offer to run the under 15,s next year but its not that we need a new organiser we need the entries.

To sumarise the lack of entries to the 2007 Under 15's has not been great and does not stimulate the organiser.

p'boro lad

Tom,

I am correct and as you are a novice then I will re-explain.

The add in the Star as in all years is something like this.

All riders who wish to compete in the British Under Fifteens Championship 2007 are to apply to Oakes at +++++ etc etc

Did you apply.? If so it is up to the organiser to invite riders to the events. Remember that if you are planning a rebelion which you were, you may be ommited !!!

Neil,

Mexico is hot and humid and Tom why would I pay his air fair ? Comparison Please.I have been there. The Taco's and Enchilada's are good and the Corona with the worm will give your pecker a lift. Your comments on rider ability are true in the Junior league and its not always the best or fastest lappers that go thru untill you get paid for it.Then they will adopt the best rider.Thats life and true.the academy league when you get there will bring this home.

Since meeting you I have no doubt about your 10 years experience in the speedway world but Dan and I have already entered it and can cope fine thanks. The money does not pay for expenses but he can grab an icecream and the odd mc donalds now and then.

How is it that the Stoke assesment was blown out the window and we now have guys on 500,s in the under 15's .2nd time of asking?????

Finally for ths post

Remember this is a forum for open speech and do not be afraid to post as the feedback will bring the youth riders like Shane, Ashley,Mark,Adam,Rhys,Chris etc the acknowlegement they deserve.

Phil

I did send an e-mail to Peter and phoned him to advise that Rhys wanted to take part at no time have I planned a rebellion all I have done as a parent is ask promoters if it would be possible they have said yes is that wrong of me to do so??or should just sit at home and think about what could have been?? as I said previously at no time have you ask myself if Rhys has entered the U-15,so my opinion is you should gather all relevant facts first then put it on the forum.I believe that by getting racing for the Lads I have got them noticed yes they have had a few meetings which helps there development so how does this constitute a rebellion, I would hope it could be seen as encouragment for the Lads giving them somthing to look forward to rather than 3 meetings of U-15.

Hi Sullihansfan

I have kept out of this debate for a reason but with less than 3 weeks left we have only had 2 rounds of the Under 15 Championship this Season.

After competing in the Under 15 event last season my Son Christopher has been available to travel to any venue to take part in the rounds.

We travelled to Northside (292 Miles)after he rode in the Weymouth Round (101 Miles) yet again he was named as a reserve all of a sudden the "Northern Boys"want to play.

Chris had 2 sheduled rides in the Main Meeting and in the 3rd Race a previously unknown rider decides to plant his bike across my Son and put his footrest through his front wheel.

Oh how jolly Christopher being quite bright thinks bail out and lives to fight another day <img src="http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />

Yes it was a good day sharing his bikes with his his good friend Kye Norton .

Then last Sunday he was invited to join the 250 cc squad at Scunthorpe he rode like a tart but had a good day .

Why does it have to be like this its all about developing young British Riders and not all about favourites and ego trips

What is your interest or your point Sullihansfan

PS

Are you the Fat Bloke who was at Scunthorpe last Sunday <img src="http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Edit

<!--coloro:blue--><span style="color:blue"><!--/coloro-->Or after a little investigation one of the Fat Women <!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> <img src="http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_lol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":lol:" border="0" alt="icon_lol.gif" />

I don't want to be one to speak ill of the dead but garry i hav to disagree with statement abt pat bint or jolly knobster as I use to call him.

I thought the bloke was a complete idiot after he wrote some very harsh comments abt my son after he had got to the final of one of the u15's rounds 2 seasons ago (2009). It was really uncalled for and bang out of order.

What made it worse was the fact the neither me or my son said anything abt him getting to the final, it was actually someone else saying how I must hav been proud of my sons achievements. Now i'm not a violent person but the things he said if had met him i wud hav punched his lights out. Along with a few other people i know, mainly my sons mum and his aunty.
