Yet another sub standard Middlo performance is hailed with hero status from his Pirates groupies.

The man couldn't motivate me to change my underwear! he bumbles his way through interviews, talks too quickly for anyone to understand him. He really isn't a front man at all.

That aside, why didn't Team GB have a team sponsor, why hasn't Middlo been banging the drum all year to obtain backing to ensure the boys all had the best available kit??

You can't tell me that the likes of Iversen, Bjerre, Kasprzak and Hampel are any better than Rico, Nicholls and Harris, but last night they looked in a completely different league. Something was severely lacking!

Rosco is the only obvious man for the job to raise our profile, ensure sponsors are queueing up and lead the boys from the front!!

No Frigbo, in Britain Iversen, Bjerre, Kasprzak and Hampel aren't better than Richardson, Harris and Nicholls. But last night Kasprzak and Hampel were on their home tracks that they can practice on basically any time they like. Our British boys can't do that. I'm not being biased towards the Brits in anyway, because I will happily admit that last night's performance was well below par.

I would criticise him on his statement that the equipment was not fast enough.  Surely someone should have taken steps to ensure that as far as possible the equipment was correct for the track?

Perhaps winning straight through to the Final is not the advantage that it was cracked up to be?

How can you critisize the manager for the riders bikes not being fast enough. He would have told them, and they would have known, that they needed very fast bikes. Kennett said last week he had a bike especially prepared for the track by Michael Lee. Trouble is it wasn't fast enough, by a margin.. The manager doesn't tune the riders bikes. You have to blame the riders for this.

As for the raceoff, well we wouldn't have gone through to the final.

The fundemental flaw in the WTC is that the runoff is at the same track as the final, give a hige advantage to countries that ride on the track competitively 48 hours earlier. This needs to be changed for next year. Have the runnoff at a nearby track, but not the track of the final. OK it saves money but by riding the runoff at another track, it would attract different local fans. And it really needs to be done.

Some on here think running the speedway team is the same as running a football team. It couldn't be more different. WTC is still individual racing. They are out on the track on their own.

I dont think it ever has been. We qualified on a GB track which was the home track for 3 of the 5 team members, 2 of those riders pretty much dominate every meeting at Coventry, would everyone not expect us to go through?

Riding at Lezno and the like is almost a different formula of speedway. Yes the Brits do race in Poland, yes we should have done better and yes we were down on speed, either bhp, gearing or both. I am extremely disappointed to find the riders equipment preparation was so far off the mark and I have to lay the sole cause of our failure at their door. I did not expect to win it, personnaly I did expect us to be last, but I did expect perhaps double the points tally.

Also, maybe its worth watching the rerun to remind yourself of the dire lines many of our boys were running compared to the other teams and to see just how poor our gating was. If I learn that Midlo was dictating their riding tactics ("Bomber, makes sure you tuck tight on the white line", "Lads, gate as badly as you have all season please") and was personally preparing their bikes then he should take all flak!

Personally I would love to see anyone else as GB manager just to see what difference it made, my bet would be none under the same circumstances.

Although when Rosco last rode he was still on an upright, sur it won't make much difference though VV.

No I agree, stand aside Middlo. Damned if you do damned if you don't and all that. I guarantee that whoever is in charge they would have done no better than you and the same old people would be calling for their head, as they will be next year whoever is in charge.

How do you know someone else can't do better ? if middlo carries on for ever we are never going to know are we ?

I like middlo to be fair but i think for his own sake he should step down he had seven chances now and thats a fair crack of the whip for anyone .

So is he or is,nt he.lets look at the evidence,7 attemps no successes, including 3 on home soil (could you imagine for one moment the Poles, Danes or Swedes not winning in there own back yard). No TM could make the current crop of GB riders win the WTC,but to turn up as badly prepared as we were, well the TM has to take the blame there.

Our riders were being beaten by riders who they ride against week in week out,but last night those same riders turned up with properly tuned bikes, did we?S Stead and E Kennett are not World Beaters but niether are K Bjerre,or puk but they had better/faster bikes.

So who,s fault is it,well i,m sorry but after 7 years the buck has to stop at the manager.

As to who should replace him, well thats up to the BSPA,but whoever it is he needs to have a good machanic who can make our bikes as fast as the others.

Very true but I was actually thinking more of Einy, he is fat, lazy and gobby!

Hmmmmmmmmmmm!

OMG and he's Ginger

Funny how its only mates of Middlo and Poole fans who dont think he should go as team GB manager.

Well if they don't stick up for him who will? You

I think that Middlo has had a decent enough run as TM now, I know that whoever comes next cannot wave a magic wand but I do think someone else should take charge.

My short list would be, in no particular order:

Rosco,

Eric Boocock,

Shazzy.

Give yourselves a pat on the back.

You'll drive the best bloke out of the job.

I wouldn't blame him at all if he walked away especially after reading the drivel on this thread.

Roscoe, Chris Morton, David Norris, Gary Havelock ... they won't handle a candle to Middleditch, a million miles better than them all.

Ask yourselves: what could any of the above have done better with the riders at his disposal tonight. Zilch, nothing.

Sometimes, I despair.

Let's pick on the easy target.

Why not Chris Harris. Where was his Millennium form tonight? He ran rings round Nicki Pedersen, Bjarne and Jason three weeks ago.

Or are you going to pick on him once Middlo has walked off into the sunset?

Always look at the alternatives before kicking the man in charge.

You'll all be sorry mark my words.

Thank you, at last somebody with common sence agrees with me!!.

Steve, please read what I said - I wrote that I criticise him for "the statement". However, that then begs the question as to whose responsibility it was to ensure that the team was properly prepared, including having the right equipment. Further, surely practice would have given some indication as to how well the equipment was prepared?

And once practice had taken place and the riders had realised their times were a second slower than the other teams, what would you expect them to do?

TeamGB were never realisically going to do anything last night and so it proved. Middlo could be the best manager in the world bt that wouldn't have changed a thing. The riders have only themselves to blame for their performances.

That is how good they are and nothing will change that.

The riders clearly have to take responsibillity for last nights poor show, Middlo cannot ride for them at the end of the day. I agree its time for a change, Middlos had his chance, lets give Havvy a crack at it, at the very least the riders would give him respect, plus i reckon hed motivate them(maybe give them a kick up the ar*e!!!)With the lack of world class current British riders, the only chance of us winning the world cup in the next few years would be if the final was at coventry.Sadly we just havent got a crop of 4/5 world class riders, you can ultimatley only use whats at your disposal.
