RPNY
I have to say, I think the Brits were a massive let down. As previously mentioned here, look at the riders who won heats, Bjerre, Iversen, Sullivan & Watt - are we really saying we have no rider on a par with them. At least one that can win a heat? And the GB manager coming on TV & saying that our equipment is not up to scratch is a joke. They have ridden the track before, they were at the race off on Thursday, there is NO excuse for poor preperation. 1 point from the first 5 rides was a total embarassment. & then Middlo comes on TV and says well at least Olly will get a run out so that'll be nice.. This is not a testimonial/benifit meeting, it's the World Cup. What sort of response did he want from the GB fans with that comment? Our preperation, performance, everything was unacceptable. And as my previous posts will show, I'm a big supporter of Scotty, Bomber & team GB. Im just p1ssed off with us coming up with excuses time after time. boxer123
have you ever heard of the saying 'flogging a dead horse'? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Being an animal lover I feel sorry for the poor old horse. Hes certainly gone through a lot and still manages to plough on with little to show . Edited July 25, 2007 by boxer123
topaz325
Thanks for the video clips Mateusz, what a great atmosphere. Listened to the C & W radio broadcast tonight on the web, some interesting views from referee Tony Steele saying that "I almost expected Poland to use the reserve before the meeting started and he was a reserve after all and maybe the rules could allow the teams in the future to use their reserves up to 6 times in the meeting". He also mentioned in event two when i think the russian rider was excluded and the heat had to be re run, so the Swedes used their Joker which is perfectly legal. Also the programmed featured Stuart Robson who seemed to be progressing well from his terible crash, all the best Robbo. Quite a good programme with some funny and informative views. http://www.bbc.co.uk/coventry/content/arti...p_feature.shtml Follow the link for a listen. If the reserve rider replaces an off form rider and gets injured in the meeting back to square one.

the.pits
Sorry Sandie I think you have this wrong. Exchange the name Middlo and replace it with Harris, Nicholls and Richardson. They let us down big time. If they don't want to ride for TeamGB then there are dozens of young lads who do. Their efforts were pathetic and what could Middlo do other than to gee them up before a race. It's down to the riders to race, and they didn't. Only they are to blame. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You've forgot wonder boy Mr Shovlar
Mateusz
The Polish Championship team were decorated by the president of Poland during a special visit in the President's Palace - some pics from this. Personally I think our president is a w@nker but it's good for speedway that this success have been noticed among people who are normally not into it. Lis
Stekkers is also accusing the guy from FIM of being drunk that night. He is also saying that in the speedway world people are talking about weather (if they found something wrong with the bikes),that it would have reach the public at all!!! The interviewer asked stekkers if he believed it would have been put public, and he said NO!!he then said it was politicaly very important that poland won the swc, speedway is big in poland and speedway needs polish succes!! He also said everybody know how things are in poland, having been there himself, and said that big engines and bigger kaburators (don't know the english word for that) and cheating with the metanol wasn't unknown, they know there little tricks and i still believe they use them now and then.. He still can't believe that a man like gollob could do so well and ride from each and everyone at the swc and then at the prague gp he could barely take his bike to the finish line... Ole Olsen is so fuming and as angry and mad as one can be about stekkers and his claims that poland cheated, that he is going to make a case of it and take it to the FIM... That's basically the headlines of what's been said...

f-s-p
Isn't stekkers already on probation regarding last years SWC? Havent seen the final yet so dont know where this is coming from. After reading the Tragedy KC I thought speedway has lost a lot of controversy in recent years. Then I thought some more. Apart from the Wroclaw final a couple of years ago there certainly has been plenty to talk about regarding SWC. Mateusz
Stekkers is also accusing the guy from FIM of being drunk that night. Who wasn't ? speedway is big in poland and speedway needs polish succes!! Polish zlotys, precisely.. Nothing new, it's been known for ages it was mostly Lech brewery and Gollob's white-red army that kept Grand Prix series going in the late 90s and Polish fans are still some proper boost of money from SGPs and SWCs.. Anyway, the whole thing, I mean Danes' moans make me sick now Edited July 31, 2007 by Mateusz
