Grachan
Well that's the biggest farce of a competition over for this year. No one except the Poles were going to win in Poland. As Iris says, you do have to question how they improved so dramatically over just 2 days. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wouldn't be surprised if the engines they rode in the final were designed to last for just one meeting and that meeting was the final. Star Lady
Team gb were disgusting, there were no excuses and the rollox sprouted from middleditch's gob about our bikes being inferior was a joke, those boys race abroad week in week out against the same guys and they dont have any trouble then when it comes to putting brass in pocket. Every other team was seen to be working together and when they showed our great skipper he was just slumped in his seat with no emotion and balls all to say to his team mates. shocking, disgusting ,tripe, embarrasing all brits traveling should be re-embusrt by middlo and the team <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So I wasn't the only one to notice then
Subedei
I wouldn't be surprised if the engines they rode in the final were designed to last for just one meeting and that meeting was the final. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wouldn't surprise me either. But I suspect the Poles and their mechanics worked overtime between Thursday and Saturday to make sure they had top notch equipment, while the British riders, perhaps, were more interested in the sights of Poznan? It's all about professionalism - the Poles came across as supremely professional, which you couldn't say about the British.
Mateusz
(...) while the British riders, perhaps, were more interested in the sights of Poznan?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> ..or the Old Square in Leszno before the meeting (link)
salty
I wouldn't be surprised if the engines they rode in the final were designed to last for just one meeting and that meeting was the final. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Seem to remember when the Poles won 2 years ago it was widely reported that their Federation had spent a fortune providing the riders with top quality equipment for the Final. It would be interesting to know what sort of assistance the Brits riders got on Saturday night.
stevehone
It would be interesting to know what sort of assistance the Brits riders got on Saturday night. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> directions to the stadium and precious little else i expect
iris123
Seem to remember when the Poles won 2 years ago it was widely reported that their Federation had spent a fortune providing the riders with top quality equipment for the Final. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Knowing how much they would like another Individual World Champ i wonder why they haven't shelled out for one or two of their riders to have such equipment in the GPs.Or do they only supply machines for Polish meetings? directions to the stadium and precious little else i expect <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That sounds about right
bazaar3
Were the machine examiners Polish by any chance?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I believe they were there with the Polish doctors all buying rounds of Zywicz for each other at the bar. Engine man
Peter Johns apart what british tuners do we have that tune world class machinery? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Without getting into the merits of particular tuners, if they don't use a dyno, they're guessing at the power output. If you make good power, you can always tune for conditions. I know Peter Johns does use a dyno - don't know about anyone else.
shazzybird
maybe even someone like Michael Lee there in the pits as an advisor for engine setups and technical issues. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good shout after all was it not said he was sorting Edwards engines for Poland (and before you start shouting at me Michael Lee is one of my all time favourite Brits!) directions to the stadium and precious little else i expect <{POST_SNAPBACK}> now that I like!!! stevehone
Good shout after all was it not said he was sorting Edwards engines for Poland <{POST_SNAPBACK}> but was he there? that's what i'm getting at ... they need someone THERE to see the conditions. ok, set a bike up 'for Poland', but the track could have been in any condition, with any weather ... he needs to be there. shazzybird
Ok if Middlo goes this year whether he gives it up or they give it to someone else who knows ..... How about someone like Michael Lee, Peter Collins or even Chris Morton? (just a suggestion)

iris123
yep, an ex rider at international level, and who said he has to be English? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Surely you're not suggesting Bertola? shazzybird
No one is saying they had to be English but people moan that there are too many foreigners here as it is so why bring one in to manage the National Team, having said that ..... Sam Ermolenko would get my vote
garf
he's a Dane <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And if this might be true, I hope that Harris then will show him the door. But I doubt it. Brian is supposed to be a pro and he can't run a buisiness doing tricks like that.
barrow boy
Walasek? Yes, he did and scored 7+1 from 6 rides. Chris Holder also raced (11 from 5) though Eddie Kennett did not. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thank you. I guess the Poles will still insist he was ill or injured during the hours covered by the WTC final but recovered enough to ride a few hours later. I forgot about Chris Holder also becoming indisposed also. Could this have been the Aussies saying if they can do it so can we. Whatever the reason this is just another example of speedway's 'Mickey Mouse' image is it not?
Big Diamond
Wasnt impressed with GB at all excuses should be able to ride the track or not be in the team. Not sure about the Walasek situation but it was a farce especially if he was fit enougth to ride the next day.

Sandie
And there was me hoping this thread and the disaster (for Brits and Aussies) of Saturday night would fade away! No chance - with Hammers v Bees off SKY have just started showing the meeting all over again. Will have to watch 'Enders instead!
