FAST GATER
Report that he had fallen while practising, and was injuried, the only disappointment for me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They could have got Sam or Les to of had a couple of races with Mort I would have thought maybe they just thought better of it as I am sure neither would have wanted to lose.!!! Tipsy_McStagger
Sorry, where exactly have you read this ? I have just checked the Brummies web site and there is no mention The news is on the Brummies site but for some reason hidden away in rained off Kings Lynn preview (Brummies depleted for trophy trip). Maybe the club are keeping a little quiet until Emiliano is well on the way to recovery, which hopefully won’t be to long away. Great to hear that there was a good turn out at Sheffield last night. adz_mft
It was a great meeting...Nice to meet Steady and have a chat to him...he is in really good spirits when i spoke to him...top bloke.. hopefully the riders who crashed are ok...Very suprised Moggo managed to get up after his one...When Barker crashed i turned to my uncle and said that was a bit nasty..but then as i was saying it..he got up and got his bike off the track lol..somehow... Some excellent racing, especially from Complin in the final...absolutely amazing ride by the lad..Best ride i have seen in a long time..i thought legos was a bit special at Redcar, but that pee'd all over that lol..Lindgren was a mile ahead after two laps..and for Complin to go around him was awesome..deserved winner..Good to see Halifax tiger again...see you sunday hopefully! adz
seanisnumber1
Great meeting and the benchmark was set in heat 1 with Tai setting a time of 59.6, 1 tenth outside the track record, you could tell he was on the gas and thought he would be near. The nasty falls for Hall and Moggo just broke the meeting up a bit too much and couldnt believe it when Moggo got up as the bike looked to hit him after he fell off. Hope Hall is ok. Ben Barker also had quite a nasty fall doing the wall of the death on the 3rd and 4th turns and couldnt believe it when he got up right infront of us and moved his bike for the race to continue. The meeting was excellent with some of the best racing seen all season, pity we couldnt have heat 20 as that would have been a cracker as well. Great to see Complin win the final and to pass GP wildcard star Lindgren from miles behind was amazing, there looked to be no gap around the fence and he just kept the throttle on and came out of it with a great pass. Hoggy get that deal sorted already whatever league or points limit he has to be in the team next season, can ride away tracks as well which is what we desperatly need. Was to great to see Garry Stead and he was so upbeat was unbelievable and really hope that the speedway public raise shed loads of money for him with the crowd am sure we will have as well as all the auctions to come up. Jason and Daniel King ended up standing next to us and they are two great guys down to earth and talked to throughout the night, if that would have been some of our boys you would not have heard a word am afraid. Was funny when they were taking the micky out of Ashworth yanking the throttle!! Edited August 24, 2007 by seanisnumber1
marron
Anyone with any idea of the crowd last night. Couldn't walk for the amount of people. Edited August 24, 2007 by marron
TigerWolf
A great meeting. Just shows that the track is still capable of producing great racing when you have higher quality riders than is the norm there on a Thursday. Excellent pass by Complin as everyone has said. I was wondering what must have been going through Freddie's mind - surely something like, "it's only a 'frendly' meeting", "There aren't any air fences", "i want to be in the grand prix next season, not in hospital"! Whatever, Freddie was much improved on his season opening performance there for Wolves back in March! I was surprised by Andre's lack of speed when he didn't lead the race after the first 3/4 of a lap. I expected he would walk the meeting to be honest. All in all, if the entertainment served up at Owlerton every week were as good as that, i'd be there every week to watch it! Glenn
marron
On the times i have been to Sheffield (which i admit is not many) i don't recall many times when Compton has came back to win the race if he hasn't been in front after bends 3/4 on the 1st lap. I could have just picked the wrong meetings but thats the impression i get anyway.
Matousek
Can i say, chris morton still looked to have the smooth style what i remember well, probably do better than some currently riding! And moggo, what bad luck, doing demo laps and next minute he's off!, shame really, but a good effort by them.

Bryn
Unfortunately it is reported that he has broken his ankle and fractured his pelvis with possible liver and spleen damage according to Mick on Panthers site. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh dear, oh dear! The last thing anybody wanted to happen and my best wishes, and I'm sure everyone elses go to Richard for a swift and full recovery from these serious injuries. So glad everything (Richard's injuries apart obviously) went well last night for Steady who now faces up to challenges in life that none of us would like to have to face and, as I think someone has already said it's a trajedy in itself that there was a need for such a meeting. I despair at times reading comments on this and other forums slagging off individual riders left right and centre that seemingly take no account that all riders risk serious injury, or indeed worse, each and every time they take to the track and just wish that people who make such postings would think a little more before pressing the send button. Tsunami
Great meeting last night and what a crowd. I understand it was not viable to open up the back straight in terms of security, toilet facilities and admissions but boy did it scunch up everbody in the rest of the stadium. Crowd guess 4500 ? Moggo had a cut forehead from his helmet and pains across the chest where the 'bars had hit hit as someone else has mentioned previously. Don't think Mrs Moggo will be letting Alan out to play speedway again. Didn't know what to think when Richard hit the fence in the third race. His immediate reaction was to hold his right hip which was a bad sign given the news of his potential injuries. Hope everything is OK for him given the week he has had with Peterborough. Given the injuries of Moggo, and the alleged injuries of Lee, it brought it home what a sensible and brave decision it was of David Walsh not to race because he felt he was making mistakes when he practiced. The winner Complin was brilliant in all his races and his pass on Lingren had to be seen to be believed. A great win which will not have done his CV any harm Spent a good part of the time with rabbit and BobC who I met for the first time. Great to meet forumers for the first time knowing you like them and sharing some time with them. Sorry I missed Onceadon(or alias) but there will always be another time Chris. As others have said it is sad that we had to have this kind of meeting at all. However it is life and these things happen. Garry was amazing last night, so brave, upbeat and cheerful. I'm afraid if I was in that position I could not have done what he did last night. He signed everything, spoke with everyone and was there for every photo shoot. He has adapted so well to his new life and I am sure from the figures that were being bandied around last night, that an enormous sum was raised for him. I hope he keeps his speedway connections and finds some position that allows him to be involved but also to help others in their chosen sport. Garry, you are a great ambassador for yourself and your sport and I look forward to see you around for a long time.
Liontamer
That last race was worth the admission money alone. If Lee Complin had ridden any wider he could have filled my programme in for me on the way round. Great meeting, great turnout, best wishes to Richard Hall & Moggo, & can I just say that Garry Stead comes across as a really nice genuine lad who has every right to wallow in self pity & anger, but who instead has impressed me so much with his positive attitude. I know there will be good days & bad days, but I wish him all the very best for the future. Good to see a few forum members again, think I might pop along to Kings Lynn tonight. superguest
Just got home, really enjoyed the meeting. Couple of really good races in the second half. When I got there I was thinking, jesus this is big! Too used to Monmore Green these days, sadly. I have no idea how Complin fitted between Freddie & the fence but well done to him. 21CH, you can now refer to Freddie as the "dirty, not quite brave enough to win at Sheffield, Swede" Hope Hall & Mogridge are OK. What on earth have the council done between Owlerton and the M1? I went past 'The Ship' pub 3 times trying to get home, stupid roadworks! I think I spent longer in some dingy area of Sheffield than I did on the M1 itself. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Freddie left him room to race, now this is the arguement against Moore from last weeks meeting. Lee Complin got better and better every lap he did! He smoked them all in his last 3 races. Amazing finale, very healthy crowd. Best wishes to Moggo and to Richard Hall, they both looked horrific crashes. Also does anyone know if Ben Barker was injured after his crash? Stokie052
Taken from the potty power forum and posted by his missus: Just to let everyone know, Alan is ok. He is 'extremely' battered. He has serious bruising and gashes to his legs and across his pelvis and has hurt his neck and hand. But Thank God he is up and walking, which under the circumstances, I am more thank grateful for. He now knows why he gave up speedway............. it fookin well 'urts!"

Only one thing wrong: 'seen to be believed' is a significant understatement. The utter fearlessness of Complin was truly incredible.
