tigerblues
Watching the world cup now I've noticed a few things about this track 1. there is no air fence (doesn't look like it anyway) 2. fans are allowed to stand right up to the boards, just seen 2 who shook Andersen's hand after a race Now I'm not being bitter, but surely if there is rules for the EL regarding safety fences, such rules should also be in place for the World Cup, and if a meeting like the world cup can be allowed to run here, why has the ELRC been moved from Sheffield? Sorry to bring all this up again but are there any rules like this for the world cup, similar to those in the EL and as far as I know, other leagues that must have air fences. SCB
2. fans are allowed to stand right up to the boards, just seen 2 who shook Andersen's hand after a race You can do that at a few British tracks after the race. Its' generally only tracks with stock car or dog tracks that prevent you doing it. They have the 2 metre barrier that spectators have to stand behind during the heats. Bobbin' Along
Still seemed too damn close to me. The numpty called Millard was wibbling on about the fact that they could have airlifted a bouncy castle to the track for tonight and then lifted it again to go to Lezno. Not sure why there wasn't one to begin with. As an aside - was it just me or was the track absolute pants tonight? And how happy did Olsen look when the Ozzies wanted the track looking at/watered? dtc
they could have borrowed the GP air fence. its in bits to fit any track Edited July 15, 2007 by dtc
iris123
Fans were not allowed to stand up by the boards, but you can get to the fence after a race. The fact that all the press photgraphers were allowed between the fence and the 2m barrier is a bit crazy though. If a bike or rider does come hurtling at them there is no way they would be able to back out quickly enough. Steve Turner
Motorsport is dangerous. At a rough guess I would say that 80% of the speedway tracks in the world are always less safe for everyone than Vojens was last night, so... If Health and Safety take over, which they probably will in the UK where it's ridiculous in work places already...then it's game over.
