Monday night @ Coventry may (fingers crossed) also result in a comfortable win for the home side. However, if the track is properly prepared and GB riders display their legendary inability to make a start then it could still be a very entertaining spectacle. Obviously a close scoreline does help to retain interest in a meeting but if the racing is good enough then the score is largely irrelevant.

Sadly, Vojens had neither a close score or any racing. :(

Why didnt Austrailia use Davey Watt who is on the form of his life at the moment instead of Chris Holder or  Sully the Snail ??

Funny that Snail you mention is in Top 10 averages in Poland AND Sweden, so why ditch him

May as well have the top 5 world teams on a big wide open longtrack arena and save the expense of 2 groups, that was nothing other than a total farce.

3 of the 8 nations entered couldnt win the conference league 4s ffs, totally pointless exercise.Typical stereotypical olsen garbage.

I know Jan comes on here occasionally, but he has posted this on the speedway list :

Hi everyone,

I may be biased, but I’m also honest: We had no say in how the track was

prepared. Actually all the guys in the team prefer some dirt. The difference

is that we seem to be able to do well on the slick also.

What you probably don’t know is that practice was cancelled due to the

immense amount of rain we have had in southern Denmark in the last few days,

and the forecast for race day was thunder storms late afternoon/early

evening.

There was a decent wind all day, but the threat of rain never materialized –

thankfully – and the only bit we got was a light drizzle around 6pm.

That is why the track was as slick as it was. It was even watered every 5

races, and at least it wasn’t as bad as Reading at the race off last year…

Great to see well over 10.500 spectators again in Vojens.

Best wishes

Jan

No they are not, I've been to Vojens lots of times and seen some cracking meetings.

I think tonight was a mixture of due to the heavy rain yesterday and the danes liking it a bit slick but they went well over the top.

Thanks for optimistic posting rob, i was dreading another 21 heats of that when i go to the g.p. qualifier in september.

Well I have now had the misfortune to watching this three hours of drivel. Thank god for Sky Plus and the fast forward button. I managed to get through the whole meeting in less than an hour, and I am now demanding from Olsen that hour back of my life!

Utter, utter drivel. Whilst home advantage is important for the Danes, speedway is meant to be about racing, so what Olsen did to this track takes away that word.

There was no racing. Without racing there is no sport of speedway, which is " four riders "racing over four laps".

The FIM should come down on this like a ton of bricks, but don't hold your breath. God knows what damage this meeting has done to armchair fans. After being thrilled by the spectacle which was Cardiff, Sky must have been slightly excited that viewing figures would be higher than average for this. Now, after last night, they must be as gutted as the rest of us.

The track was as bald as a gibbons arse. Every rider who went off the inside couple of metres went backwards. try too hard and lose a place, as Crump, Adams and others discovered. In fact, riders were trying to go up the inside so much they left the track, ala Schlein!

Whilst the Danes were determined to go through, what a terrible way to do it. No wonder the crowds are poor in Denmark if this is the rubbish served up. Imagine watching this from trackside! Even though their team went through, the fans that paid good money to go throutgh the turnstiles were totally ripped off.

But as Olsen is in charge of track prep for this series, I guess we can expect the same from him tomorrow at Coventry.

So this is what is needed to be done. Refuse him entry to the stadium, or if he is there and goes for a leak, lock the bloody door for a few hours so he can't do the same as last night.

Now, Benfield still hold the rights to this event, so we need to demand Olsen's removal as track director. If enough fans should loud enough, they will have to take notice. I am sure they will not be happy with what was viewed on TV last night. Time to act.

Don't blame the Danish riders Steve, as I posted on another thread and Jan was quoted as above most of them prefer some dirt!!

As to Olsen, well maybe! But it sounds as if it was more just the terrible weather we've been having.

There's been quite a bit of interest in speedway in my parish since Bomber's GP win. A lot of people in the pub been asking me about it. Yesterday "early doors" I told some guys at the bar about the SWC, all the worlds top riders etc etc. They all decided to head down to the club to watch on SKY, Oh dear, am I in for some verbal. Doubt it if they will watch again, even though Bomber is riding on Monday.

As for Olsen meddling with the track on Monday, the Cov staff need to tell him to "do one". I seem to remember a couple of years ago in Slovenia, the Krsko track staff doing the same, result good track, (win for Trick).

Vojens generally is slick as it's a homer for Olsen, but he needs to leave the track prep at Coventry & Leszno to the blokes who do it week in week out. They are the experts there and they are the ones who know how best to prepare it suitable for RACING.

Sorry, but the weather is a poor excuse in this instance. Remeber the world final in Wroclaw 1992, the track was absolutely flooded mid-meeting by a huge storm, the poles called in the fire brigade once the rain stopped, pumped off the water & re-graded/re-laid the track to allow the meeting to continue with decent racing.

A GP in Sweden more recently also springs to mind - they re-laid the track prior to the meeting using hot shale to combat the damage the weather had done to it. After a few heats when the track had bedded in, I see to remember that being a good 'un too.

As for Jan Staechmans comment re the Smallmead track for the race-off last year - who was responsible for the track prep that night as well?

If last night is the best Olsen can do trackwise for such a high profile meeting he should stick to dancing in future.

I was just about to post the same, it was a waste of electric watching that rubbish last night, like you say thank god for Sky + :(

A total embarrassment

So next years Danish GP is maybe going to be there, I hope not. (Was going, but not if it's there).

How can only the Danes cope with such conditions? surely all world class riders should be able to find a set up and gate as fast as their opposition.

Some of the better GP racing has been on one off tracks this year.

How can the third finishing teams still get to the final.

Would there not have be more desire to deal with the crap track conditions if allimination for third place had followed.

I have been watching speedway for over forty years, and have now seen one of the best meetings ever and also one of the worst in the space two weeks.

Congratulations to the Danish team, you aeserved your win.

If the track is prepared by or on Olsens instructions and the raceing turns out like that procession we all witnessed last night, then we,(the fans) need to use our feet to show our dissaproval,by that i dont mean stay away,i mean we need to all walk onto the track and demand they redo it so that we can get what we pay for aka RACEING.

It pi**ed down throught the recent televised B /ham v,s Sheffield PL match, but the raceing was better than last night.

Olsen should retire now before he retires speedway

Best suggestion you have ever made Steve, let's hope everyone who will be in the stadium early tomorrow are made aware of it :approve:
