British Gp Speedway Dvd

do yourself a favour pick up a new DVD player....

The one I've got is only 6 months old, although it's now unplugged. :D

The main one I use is a video/DVD recorder combi so I have the best of both worlds really.

Must admit I mainly use the video because I can't be bothered with all the reading/erasing/freezing that goes on with DVD's but I normally transfer the G.P's I've recorded on Sky from video to DVD as they are smaller to store. When I come to play them back over the next few years they'd better work properly or they'll be trouble! :P

if people are having problems with recordable dvd's you're recording on yourself, try using some different branded discs, some of these recorders are fussy with which discs they prefer.

As for this dvd, i'm going to buy myself a copy for my birthday B)

Cheers for the quick reply Dan, but what you're saying (without actually saying it) is that your DVD doesn't have the Sky commentary on that I'm ultimately after? Is that correct?

Blimey, someone who actually WANTS the Sky commentary?

:blink::blink:

I watched the TV pictures, but with the excellent local radio commentary - Johnno was brilliant!

Yep, how excited they get about things just adds to the excitment, plus I know Loramski was part of the team so want to see that aswell.

If anyone recorded the entire British GP from Sky then I'd gladly pay for a copy of that - my Sky+ failed on recording it on the night - so angry about that!

Hi Ipswich Jules, I recorded the British GP from Sky on my DVD but have transferred it to a video for a friend - I'm quite happy to do the same for you if you like? I think the quality is okay and it is great to watch - I still end up with a great big smile at the end!

I think DVD's are a pain in the neck and not all they are cracked up to be.  I've got that fed up with them freezing and all the stupid reading and erasing etc. I've gone back to my trusty video.  New technology is not always the best.

Now where did I put my wind up grammophone.  :D

I'd be really surprised if the explanation for the above is not either cheap discs or DVD player.

Not that i'm saying there is anything remotely cheap about the priceless Gemini :)

I was given the 6 dvd box set for Christmas after deciding not to buy it myself as I thought it wouldn't be much cop being so cheap. Well I was wrong. Up until now each Grand Prix DVD has been selling for £20 - £25 (which is why I didn't buy them), but the 6 DVD set was brilliant & well worth £20.

I'll certainly be ordering a copy of the Cardiff GP (even with the threat of Nigel Pearson commentating), & well done to the people responsible for selling quality DVD's at sensible prices.

Any chance of a free copy for being so nice?

Since i purchased the box set i've mentioned several times before about the superb quality and production of the collection.

The price was the reason i went ahead and bought it. But, let's not wax too lyrical about that or it might give them ideas for a considerable hike in the price for this season's package.

Hi Jules, It is the Sky feed, however we have repackaged similiar to how we (BHP) made the Channel 4 programme (1 hours 55 for the main programme), a lot more glossy!! Have also got a great 15 minute interview with Chris Harris which we filmed yesterday and several other extra's... Was doing our best to get this out before the 16th but when the opportunity came up to do the interview we thought it would be worth the wait!!

This disc sounds the bargain of the year. The 'Channel 4' weekly version was always an excellently put together package. I used to never fail to watch it despite having seen the SGP on Sky the week before.

The fact that the running time is doubled can only mean more value for money. Only gripe?, i bet there is no fit female presenter available which was always a bonus with the Channel 4 aired version :)

Hello Matt,

I am not sure of the deals in place, we were devasted when Channel 4 opted not to take this anymore as we believe it was one of the best (exciting & well produced) sporting events on TV...

Hopefully someone with some sense will realise that this sport could appeal more (I have recently been converted...)

Without a doubt the lack of terrestrial coverage is one of the most damaging things to the sport. I know that from the initial Saturday morning transmissions (and possibly repeated the same week?) it was hidden out of sight. However, if Benfield had pushed/promoted for it to be broadcast it could only have boosted the sport.

The number of times you would see the headline on the SGP website of a major terrestrial deal having been done. Only, when you went to the story it would depressingly be for Denmark, Poland or several countries where speedway isn't even established.

The production had gotten down to a fine art. The age group of a lot of the audience on a Saturday (mid) morning was perfect for capturing future supporters, who are fed on the sameness of ball sports (football, rugby, cricket, tennis etc.).

Machester Paul....

I can assure everyone that we will not be increasing the price for 2007, and in fact we have plans to add more footage / DVD extra's which will only increase the bargain factor... I have been very careful in assessing the price and I am happy with where it is at.

I am also looking to see if we can make boxsets for previous years (fingerscrossed), and the price will reflect the fact that they are older years, so if we get to do this, they will be less than £19.99 which will be the price for 2007.

With regards to terrestrial coverage, this is down to broadcasters and what they want to show. I still can't believe no one will take this as I believe it is the best post produced sporting programme..

Cheers
