hyderd
Why was Howe riding at Cardiff and not Stead or Kennett ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because the British final was held at Wolves, would he of made it if the british final was held at B Vue or Poole? Silver Bee
Because the British final was held at Wolves, would he of made it if the british final was held at B Vue or Poole? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> At Belle Vue, yes. At Poole you're giving Kennett Home Track Advantage
SCB
I think to be fair, Middlo has got it about right as we should really be going with in-form riders. So why Stead? His average over the last 4 weeks is probably about 5, below that of Howe, Kennett, Allen, Louis, Screen, Wright, Lanham(!!!) and Bridger! And, thinking about it, must be a case for Richard Hall, the only one of them to make it to the GP Qualifier Semi!!
Pollyanna
Some have said you can't judge Ed by his one poor meeting at Coventry, and in the same instance you can't judge David by his performance on Saturday night. I don't think he disgraced himself by any means... he didn't finish last, he picked up some points, and he had a couple of thrilling and skillful rides. I'm glad he's at least at reserve after his poor form last season, but going by this season I do believe he should have been thought of ahead of either Ed, who I think needs another year or so before he is considered for the national stage; or Steady, who is only just returning from injury. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> _____________________________________________________ Quote: "The one who has impressed me the most this year is Edward Kennett. He's really taken that next step forward ......He's been fantastic this year, good luck to him. If I were Middlo, Edward would be my first choice to come into the World Cup." Mark Loram. Steve_R
Are the "Experts" on this thread that are knocking the GB team selected the same people who were saying that Chris Harris would be an embarrasment in the GP'S?

This is a discussion forum, so speedway WILL be discussed, amazing that!

BritPete
I have just read that a reserve can only be used if a rider is injured, or ruled out by the chief medical officer. A strange rule, but, IMO simply confirms that by putting David Howe at reserve is spot on by Middlo.
Silver Bee
It was stated before that the reserves could be used at any point

frigbo
I was of the impression that the Res could replace one rider only, be it owing to either injury or poor form.
BritPete
I was of the impression that the Res could replace one rider only, be it owing to either injury or poor form. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is what the Danish team manager wrote: Hi guys, "According to the 2007 FIM SWC rules, the reserve/stand by rider can only come into play if one of the 1-5 riders get injured, and the Chief Medical Officer (doctor!) rules him out for the rest of the meeting........" ....Best wishes Jan (From Yahoo) Edited July 7, 2007 by BritPete
SCB
I too was under the impression that the reserve could replace any rider (but only one rider and once he had replace him he was unable to replace another rider and the rider replaced could have no more rides. However, having checked the rules, it seems the rider has to be injured to be replaced.
baz brush
Scott Nicholls© Chris Harris Edward Kennett Lee Richardson Simon Stead Reserve-David Howe <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A side that will do us proud round Coventry although on current form I would have selected the same 6 riders but with Simon Stead at reserve. OK so I am a Wolves fan, but David Howe should be in there without question as he is on form the third best English rider this year. Agree he should be in Graham, he deserves his place but third best is a statement I cant agree with. Why was Howe riding at Cardiff and not Stead or Kennett ? To be brutally honest mate the British Final was at his home track and if the final had not of been rerun then I think Ed would of beaten him. IMO With the round at Coventry, I would have used Oliver Allen ahead of Stead as he has been brilliant over the last 18 months. Also agree that Ollie should be involved in the World Cup but only if Injuries need another rider or two to come into the squad, which may now be required. I hope that Middlo uses this World Cup to show the riders who will be the future of team GB (King, Hall, Bridger and Allen) if they are not called up what it is all about and involves them in the pits at the meetings and in his team building exercises. They are the future and will be for a fair amount of time and the experience of being involved can not do any harm but plenty of good. Harris, Nicholls, Richardson, Howe, Allen - res Kennett <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Swap Kennett for Allen and I think we would of been on the same wavelength, I dont think that Olly would make the team for the final when we get through and think that the place should be given to whoever is likely to be there. The injury to Howe throws a spanner in the works now and think that the side Middlo has selected would now be my side with Allen at reserve. All I hope is that the final 5 on the night ride with pride and passion, riding for team GB is an honour to the few that get selected and there are youngsters waiting in the wings that would probably give their hind teeth to be in the final 5. Russell
I would put Allen in at reserve now Howe is out but can you change the team for other legs or do you have to keep the same line up.
