Bryce
As one of those who voiced concern over the inclusion of Norris and Barker; I feel it's only right to acknowledge to the world (well the forum anyway) that they proved me 100% wrong. A superb effort from all the guys, turning what could have been a very boring meeting into one that had me screaming at the tv. I nearly hit my head on the ceiling when Wiltshire shed that chain in our Joker heat. Great stuff Team GB. Come on for the Race -Off! Brightonbob
It takes a grown-up to admit they got it wrong, so heres to you Bryce. Floppy was bloody great last night and those who watch him week-in-week-out knew he had it in him. He was always bound to get completely charged up about riding for his country and God forbid getting in his way when that happens. But they all did great. I know, we didn't beat the truly awesome Aussies, but with a bit of luck we would have done. The aim is simple. GB on the podium.
Robbie B
Who ever Middlo picked, I would back them 100%. If Jason Lyons had not be doing his rolling starts, I think Great Britian would have made to the final last night. Great effort from the boys. Grachan
I must admit I was a bit disappointed when the team was announced. I reckoned that England were going to struggle anyway so best give the youngsters a try out. I still don't think that would have been a bad idea, but I must say a team that I thought (admittedly from someone who watches PL racing and doesn't have Sky, so doesn't get to watch much EL) looked a bit old-hat came up with an excellent result. Middlo's horses for courses theory worked well it seems. Obviously the England manager knows more about Speedway than I do. Now there's a turn-up! Derwent
Yes I too was dubious about Norris but he performed very creditably. Biggest disappointment was Scotty, only one win in 5 heats. One more win and we'd have tied with the Aussies. Still, we know he's quality and he'll do better in the race off. I think the weak link may be Havvy, particularly in 5 man races where you might have to find lines which you wouldn't normally ride. Move him off the white line and he needs a map ! Jenn
If Jason Lyons had not be doing his rolling starts, I think Great Britian would have made to the final last night. He only rolled once!!!!! And that was blown out of proportian by Chris Louis! :-( I'll admit that Dave Norris shocked me last night! Well Done him! FlyinRyan
The Brits did ok and that should be acknowleged - however I still stand by what I say in that the SWC is pointless and should be run less often and only include teams that are up to standard. Did I mention elsewhere about the ridiculous pricing structure and low crowds not doing any favours for anyone.
SammyR
So, should Belle Vue and Ipswich have been kicked out of the Elite League in, say, May or June for "not being up to standard?". Maybe the Elite League itself is pointless and should be run less often. Aren't low crowds in Britain not doing any favours for anyone? When it comes to pointless...... Derwent
however I still stand by what I say in that the SWC is pointless and should be run less often and only include teams that are up to standard I think the format is poor and it doesn't help the sport's image to have these weaker nations being so far behind the leaders. Personally I think the WC would be better under the format of a proper speedway meeting - 7 man teams, 15 heats. You could have 4 quarter finals, two semi's and the final - all one team versus one team. We've got 7 decent strength speedway nations in GB, Australia, Poland, Sweden, USA, Denmark and Czech Republic so you'd have those plus one nation from a qualifier (probably Finland or Slovenia). Personally I think that would be so much better than the current format.
SammyR
I'm willing to bet that Thursday's Race-off and Saturday's Final are both great speedway meetings, which will raise the sport's profile and increase its popularity. However will he do the business in the repercharge round where the opposition will be more with it.
shaggie
Decker, So lets get this right you and all the other doubters thought that Dave Norris would beat Ryan Sullivan Todd Wiltshire and lead Leigh Adams for nearly 3 laps before the meeting started  Also did you think that he would be so aggresive in his riding  Admit it you and every other speedway know all got it wrong admit it. Wait till thursday the best is yet to come. ;-)

Nope i'm just saying the moaning minnie couldnt fail to score what he did considering he is allegedly a EL star. Norris is a joke and tbh Team england would have been better off haking harris and stead who probably would have scored the same.
shaggie
Is that the same Harris and Stead that were so outclassed at Cardiff

Star Lady
I really cannot see the point in all this hassle. Yes Norris rode brilliantly, and riding for his country obviously meant the world to him. Well done to him and the rest of the team BUT the fact is we are in the race-off exactly the same position as we would have been had Harris and Stead ridden. They had no one to beat but the Aussies. Next year Harris and Stead may well be picked for the team and will come in with no experience of the competition at all, so IMO this year is an opportunity missed. If after Saturday, Team GB have medals I will willingly eat humble pie Who's in charge of the cooking?
