iris123
I did mention the attendances looked low for some of the Elitserien meetings before.Think it was only after the first 2 or 3 rounds though,so it was too early for any of our Swedish Members to really make a judgement. But have today seen the figures for some of the Clubs and there looks to be some concern Masarnas average 2001: 4512 2002: 4377 2003: 3860 2004: 3363 2005: 4742 2006: 2596 2007: 1501 ! Other clubs Indianerna 1264 Dackarna 1600 Smederna 1640 I know Tarabanko said this figure is above the break even figure for Smederna. But it does seem the trend for attendances to be dropping continues,at least at Masarna.Any informed opinions or maybe reasons given in the Swedish media? Are these figures reaching crisis point? Wackie
Looks like crowds are down all over Sweden. Noticed in the Speedway Star last week that one of the lower division (2nd I think) Swedish teams had a grand total of 40 supporters turn up to watch
tarabanko
Crisis?? For Smederna it is looking good for once. The expensive riders have left Smederna one after one. For this year Smederna has building the team around the attendance figures last year and so far the attendance has been ok and then Smederna has a cheaper team than last year. It is better to survive than not. Masarna has counted on 2300 people at every match to break even but the attendance has been poor, just around 1600 per match.. So they are making heavy losses. But the chairman in Masarna says it is no worry on the economical side. Masarnas chairman says that the sponsors are pushing in money in Masarna so there is no problem. Västervik, expensive team bad attendances. Dont know how the economical side is there but I suspect it isnt the best. Kaparna Are loosing money big time. In 2005 they had a attendance of about 1400 each match at home and now the attfigure is lower counting on the matches they have raced and not to be forgiven are that Kaparna has had a team a couple of times beneath the teaam average and has been handed with fines for it in access of around 200.000 Swedish Crownes total. Rospiggarna I know that they had problems with money for a time ago but how it is this year I dont have a clue. Bajen A very expensive team, heavy losses in the two past years and their boss Hans Nelen has ploughed down more than 2 million swedish crowns to clear rider debts, but the debt is still there for Bajen to pay to Hans. I belive the actual attendance is not paying for the expensivest team? in Elitserien. Dackarna One of the clubs that are showing up a good capital of around 1.8 millions if I remember right. Elit Vetlanda Another club from Småland that are going good on the economical side. Don know the actual sum though. Indianerna It is quiet from the Indians. They has had debts dont know how it is today. Piraterna A club with mystery economical side. No news about their situation at all. In general the attendance is down on the golden years except Dackarna and Elit Vetlanda. / Mikael

iris123
Thanks for that Tarabanko.Good that the Blacksmiths are not in trouble financially, but with on track performances they must be thinking about changing the team around a bit And i thought you asked and were told where to find the results just a couple of weeks back Pollyanna! The highest attendance so far during a league meeting from the 2001 season and onwards is 8353 which was at Smedernas home meeting against Masarna in the 2003 season. tarabanko
Thanks for that Tarabanko.Good that the Blacksmiths are not in trouble financially, but with on track performances they must be thinking about changing the team around a bit Shhh.... Andre Compton has done his last match, they gave him a rowboat so he can row home to England so he will not be home for some time. Morten Risager are hanging loose I think... Smederna has signed Robert Miskowiak and he will replace Morten on the reserveberth and likely so will Stefan 'Ando' Andersson sign for Smederna and he will take Comptons place. Smedernas team will likely look like this next week: 1. Krzystof Kaszprzak 2. Krzystof Buczkowski 3. Rory Schlein 4. Stefan Andersson 5. Wieslaw Jagus 6. Robert Miskowiak 7. Linus Eklöf 8. Robert Henderson On the reserve bench then are: Mariusz Puszakowski Morten Risager

Rory will be the Team Captain. or actually i think he already is the new Captain. Edited June 13, 2007 by Ghostwalker

And ofcourse it doesn't cover the cost of the team, but no one expects it to either. You can't run a club on gates alone. Since Hans Nelén is the man who dreamed up some of the fattest rider-contracts he might aswell pay for them Edited June 13, 2007 by Liverstam

Otherwise it's pretty much the same as usual. Not really a crisis, except maybe in Avesta, where I believe they only charge 100 skr which is probably the least expensive in the Elitserien. So I don't think the issue lies with the cost of going. Edited June 13, 2007 by Liverstam
