ELRC - Change of venue

Super7 has been an absolute disaster.

4TT- rained off then not sure who is in re-arranged meeting, although have paid for tickets.

Pairs - at deadline date, site goes down for hours, then pairings amended and groups changed

ELRC - have tickets for Sheffield, now at Kings Lynn. If tickets to be re-used I have to travel to KL on a Thursday night or to Swindon on a Sunday night - already have tickets for pairs.

I shall never buy a speedway ticket in advance again - try getting Grand Prix tickets in this country - abroad no problem.

Do the BSPA not care about fans - you have to deliver what you promise, and not change it without caring a jot.

Oxford closing is the thin end of the wedge - fans will not forget this type of behaviour whether they have gained or lost from these actions - and will think twice before shelling out hard earned cash.

RIP speedway as it should be.

Chris - go back to your cave until you have something constructive to say.

It is not compulsary to like Jonathon Chapman or Kings Lynn, you have an excellent promoter at Rye House also(track is a little slick).

Jonathon Chapman is a success, he is the new image for British Speedway, but unfortunately the few, including Rye House and one or two more, are currently propping up the rest who can't promote the sport in a proper mannner.

Complain about the venue change if you must, but i fail to see why you can't accept that J.C. is trying to make things better.

The regulations state that air fences are a must for all Elite League meetings and Mr Machin can't be that stupid of a man to not realise that he needed an air fence, come on, for christ sake.

surely this is NOT an EL meeting more an individual meeting involving EL riders as per the northern riders champs/sean wilson meeting/wolves challenge/world cup/previous ELRC ( where EL riders rode anyway)....what's the bloody difference??????????????????????????????????????? surely you can't be that blind (/stupid)?

Puzzling why Sheffield had it taken away.

Still no definitive answer........ will we ever get one other than the Speedway Politicians, "No further comment" ?!!

the sheffield promotion have been banned from commenting by the BSPA.

I doubt that the EL riders would be happy to ride without airbags, somehow. And yes, it is an individual meeting, but that doesnt change anything. KL had the airbags out last time for the pairs, its what they're used to..

Only imagine if JC organised the ELRC without airbags - or kept it at Sheffield without airbags, and someone came off and got injured... Think of what would be said of him then. It'd be a case of 'why werent there airbags at the track?' Then JC would be getting it in the neck from every angle for not having them. (Of course, I personally think we should have airbags at all tracks anyway, but thats a different topic.)

I presume KL will have them up again, and yet we still get complaints.. I totally understand the peevedness of people local to Sheffield, it may have been better to re-organise it for a Saturday at KL so at least people further afield would stand more chance of getting there, but I'd hope that refunds would be available?

As to the PL4TT, the weather can hardly be controlled - and whilst it may be harsh to riders that may lose out in their averages before then and not ride, I believe they'll have new averages allocated before July 8th, therefore they'll have to be based on those to be correct.

Look at the positives, people. All we're doing is complaining - at least people are putting the effort in to organise these things, whatever the outcome, the super7 events are a nice change from league meetings, and if we can get to them, do we not enjoy them?

At the end of the day, it's just another chance for some of the anti KL brigade to have a pop.

Amazing how complimentary people are when you're struggling at the bottom of the league.

Jealousy - such a powerful emotion :P

It's nothing to do with having a go at KL - it is having a go at making changes when things have already been organised.

Good luck to KL - but give fans a fair deal.

The PL4TT had to be changed after organisation, and whilst we're assuming Sheffield was changed due to airbags, do we actually know? There could be a more than valid reason that we're all completely missing, as they have apparently been banned from commenting by the BSPA. ;)

The following has been posted on the Sheffield forum:

Guys,

Please don't be too hard on Neil and Hoggy in this one. Believe me, the matter has been debated behind closed doors for weeks.

It's a far from satisfactory situation and there are two sides to the story.

However, I would like to clarify that the BSPA have requested Neil and Hoggy not to say anything further on this matter as they want to focus on promoting the event at the new venue.

I can confirm the main issue was the installation of an air-fence at Owlerton, but that's all I can really add I'm afraid.

I can fully understand your frustration but the main reason for my posting is quite simply to ask you to back off Neil and Hoggy.

I am also becoming increasingly concerned by the amount of personal attacks on certain promoters on this forum which, I believe, is bordering on slander.

Best wishes, Nigel Pearson.

As Nigel is supposedly BSPA Press Officer, I assume some weight has to be attached to this.

I hadnt seen this, thank you for posting. And to be honest, it doesnt surprise me - in british speedway you expect airbags to be linked to all elite league rides, whether its your weekly meeting, or a special event. *shrug*

I think the condition about an air fence is fine - however I think that this should have been forseen before the meeting was arranged and publicised.

Perhaps it was thought to have been sorted out - we cant tell what was said, or agreed, at the start between both parties. It may have been Super7 at fault, it may have been Sheffield at fault, either way, its been changed now, so placing blame will help nothing.

Good point, but what about when PL riders get injured!? I reckon EVERY league should be made compulsory or it is at the club's discretion. Sorry but I can't see why EL riders' safety should be more of an issue than PL riders'!
