King Jamie
Although , like Stead was last year , whoever it is will be out of their depth . Massive question marks remain over Stead as he looked out of his depth at Cardiff and in the world cup last season. i agree with both of you Middlo if he is given the option will give it to Stead in all probability as he will probably feels he owes him after dropping him for last seasons SWC final. Middlo owes him nowt. he made the correct decision for the country. Personally don't feel Stead will ever get to the upper reaches of the GP's so may as well give it to Ed for the experience and as reward for his good form. agreed. choice of those two, it's Kennett all the way. give Stead nothing I am quite confident that Rory would attract more fans than Kennett or Stead. while i'd defo like to see Rory at Cardiff, the powers that be would never go for it... fatface
Gotta be Steady. I would still rate him as a better long-term prospect than Chris Harris, despite the weekend, where yeah, we all agree, Bomber was superb. He's really got to be on the GP stage within the year and needs the exposure. Kennett's started the seaon well and his time will come. It's a little more urgent for Stead though... seanisnumber1
No Bomber is becoming the number 1 Brit in my eyes with his performances for the Bees, in the World Cup last year and the GPs so far!! Tough call between Steady and Kennett, Steady had a good score against an average Reading side on Monday but Kennett has been doing it consistantly throughout the season when people had written him off!! 12bore
Well I'm a Rory fan but .... theres absolutely NO WAY i would want him in a GP in place of a British Wildcard ... sorry but team loyalty and national pride are very different things .... Stead I reckon on balance
shazzybird
Why does it have to be an English rider? What about Australians? It is not fair that they can't get a wildcard just because they don't have a GP. I was thinking about Rory Schlein. Alot of fans would support him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It doesn't a English rider and British one will do for the British GP and without offending all the Aussies why should and Australian get the wildcard? Yes he'll have support from here (me not included there I might add) but nowhere near as much as Edward and yes I am bias I am quite confident that Rory would attract more fans than Kennett or Stead. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think so Jo Joanne does make a valid point though. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes Kev she does but should of used someone better than Rory Schlein as an example like maybe Adam Shields he has a big following (MD is wayyyyyyyyyy over 6ft!) and it might make him hungry for more GP action BUT and thats a HUMONGOUS BUT I'd still cheer Edward on over Adam. Blazeaway
Joanne does make a valid point though. We have the British GP which traditionally provides a British wild card, the Swedes, Poles and Danes etc have the same, but there is currently no platform for young Aussies, Yanks, Kiwis etc to get their chance to shine. Maybe the Scandinavian and European GP's should be used for this as Sweden and Poland respectively, do have their 'other' GP's in which Lindgren, Ulamek et all are included? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> British Speedway does enough for young Aussies and Kiwis as it is. There are no young Americans good enough to ride in a GP. If they want a wild card get their own federations to sort a GP out. The Scandinavian GP should have a Scandinavian wildcard and the European GP should have a European wildcard alternated between the major Euro Speedway nations. Poland, Sweden and Denmark. John Hannibal Thomas
No way! British patriotism comes out at Cardiff if at no other meeting during the season!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I cant quite see why Schlien would be popular? he would not add anything to the gp, there are enough 1 line gaters as it is. nicki and bombo harris is all we need for racing anyway
Seb the Snail
Stead has to be the choice for this year's event, but I don't think that there's much doubt that Kennett has the brighter future in the sport long-term. His time will come. And as for all those calling for Schlein, for once I'm lost for words! Edited May 17, 2007 by Seb the Snail

Craig Mc Cracken
It would be a steady shout from myself but after many seasons watching him at workington and belle vue he still rides every circuit the same old style which is ok on nice large circuits with a bit of banking but not on such tight slick tracks like Cardiff! I just found him wanting and I thought he was a sitting duck out there, so I think at the moment Kennet would give a better ride on the night. Sorry Simon !!! Maybe the old days like Coventry but not at Cardiff !!!
youngy105
Give the WC to Steady...after all us Aces fans are not going to have much to cheer this season are we.

RPNY
Steady's got to be given the wild card surely.. Carrying a very poor team on his own at the moment & he's only 24, not exactly a Vet is he...
SCOOBYDO
If you put aside the clubs SS and EK ride for, GB have two 'young' riders where their careers have taken similar paths and both look to have an exciting future.....and it seems there are others on the way, Bridger, Woffinden, Auty etc. SS - Premier League to Elite League reserve to Elite League '2nd string' to Elite League Heatleader (Albeit in a struggling Aces team) EK - Premier League to Elite League reserve to Elite League '2nd string' to ........... it is only a matter of time. Obviously everyone will have their own opinion about reasons why someone is picked or not picked, but whoever is selected will get the support of UK fans in Cardiff I am sure......... maybe for 1 night only !!!! My selection would be SS but it would not be a controversial decision if EK was given the nod.

Where you sitting, I'll bring my HA Racing cap over for you.......... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, it is now official...the highest placed rider apart from Nicholls and Harris, will be the Wild Card for the Cardiff GP and the next two highest qualifiers will be the reserves. It is today on the Super7even/ BSPA site.
