manchesterpaul
There seems to be another ominous silence from the SGP website and press releases regarding any coverage (highlights) of this year's series on terrestial tv. As i can't have/receive Sky where i live, it looks like i'll have a very long wait until after the season has ended and then purchase the 6 DVD box set that comes out. Also, i'm further getting really worried and 'beeped off' in that i have not heard mention of any coverage on Planet Speedway. I had-obviously wrongly-presumed that commentary was automatic on the station. Does anyone know if any of the SGP's will be broadcast on any online radio stations? Hopefully IMG improve things. There must be a pub with Sky not far away?
SCB
Get down the pub, ask them to put the speedway on
manchesterpaul
Get down the pub, ask them to put the speedway on <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's very few pubs would ever be likely to put the speedway on. To be honest, i will usually be able to access Sky in other homes. But, it is far from convinient most of the time. I made the post in a general sense, on behalf of others, pointing out that more people don't have Sky than do. Also, the absence from terrestial coverage (at a watchable hour) is very damaging to the sport.
iris123
Well there are such things as video recorders nowadays. So no need for those of us without Sky to wait till the end of season for a dvd set Eurosport are showing it on 09.05(09:45-10:45) and then 10.05(08:30-09:30) If they don't decide to change it at the last minute

What be one of them, surely they don't still exist? i've a vague memory of such things rumored to have been in circulation in the olden days. I always thought it a myth on a par with 'Nessie'. I think DVD recorders and media centre PC's do most of the recording nowadays. I take the point you are making. I'll still definitely buy the DVD set as it was of fantastic quality and content. Eurosport is as unavailable as Sky. I presume you must have cable to receive it?.
Diesel
Why can't you get Sky? Something to do with not being allowed to put a dish on the building you live in?
manchesterpaul
Why can't you get Sky? Something to do with not being allowed to put a dish on the building you live in? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep. I used to have all the Sky sports channels when ITV Digital was running. Mind you, possible hope for the future is that i think i read that Sky are about to withdraw their current channels from Freeview. It is rumoured they wish to replace them with PPV/Subscription channels. The only stumbling block is the terms of a Freeview broadcasting licence which at present obviously doesn't allow for subscription channels to replace free ones. mp2
I've managed to purchase/download a channel viewer from the net with over 1000 channels on it, most of which seem to work pretty well. Pictures a bit grainy, but you'd put up with it! Can anyone shed light on who owns the live rights to SGP on the continent - like in Italy, France, Poland, Czecho etc., as the viewer I have doesnt have Sky Sports on it... Desperate to catch the first GP tomorrow, but need help finding what channels actually host it! Thanks guys...

Thanks guys... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There are many portals on the web that give you free access to thousands of TV channels. The picture quality is usually superb. Unfortunately, your chances of catching a 'major' sporting event are virtually nil. As in this country with Sky, most big sporting occasions are owned by subscription channels. As such they are heavily secured and encoded. If all one had to do was go on to the internet and access it for free, they'd have far fewer subscribers. I've linked in the past to foreign tv channels that have archived material (including speedway meetings) on their websites. Picture quality, as mentioned, is excellent. Even in this country when live sport is on a local radio station (including speedway), it is often not broadcast on their internet feed and is only available within the radio stations locality. Usually, the reason for this is indeed contractual. I've listened to several speedway meeting from around the country on internet radio. However, often one can't access them on the web. However, this is down to the station deciding to broadcast other programmes on their web feed. iris123
Just an update on this.It does appear as if Eurosport are showing the GP live this weekend. Here Hope this is true and they show the remaining GPs as well.
Conkers
Eurosport show the GPs live in continental Europe, but the UK version has no Speedway - still that means we're spared Jack Burnicle's uninformed commentary (make Millard and Pearson sound like Alvar Liddle and Brian Perkins). His Ice Racing commentaries were hilarious as riders names were not just pronounced wrong, but their country of origin changed from lap to lap!!!! pompey
Greetings Another sufferer in Australia However, this news about Eurosport showing it live (as listed) could be good, or bad news. The reason is there is a free website supplying Eurosport.ru - russian. Does anyone know russian and can check on the http://www.eurosport.ru/ to confirm if its being shown? Otherwise I may wait around all night and see if its shown anyway.... The link by the way is: http://streamick.com/ select under sport, Eurosport RU, its free. iris123
Not sure if it is on the Russian Eurosport or not. But you may have another chance. If you register Here you can get a free trial membership.Might be a long shot but you might be able to then watch live.Otherwise amonths membership is quite reasonable.Just a thought

pompey
lol luckily over here im blessed with plenty of beach viewing, aslong as my mrs doesnt catch me perving under the sunglasses I emailed BSI asking if they had any intention of broadcasting via the web, as yet no reply, theyve probably tied themselves in with sky so deep they havent got a chance, or it will only be available via Sky - which will have the same broadcast issue I expect Im quite happy to subscribe, would also be great if some users uploaded the elite league matches that can then be shared via Utorrent etc. All this untapped income... oh well speedway init Thanks for all your help and efforts, much appreciated
