If Jason puts as much effort into this year, which I am sure he will, he should win. I have a feeling Nicki will be the main contender, and I will be just as happy if he wins. One point I would like to make is that bomber will not finish at the foot of the group, he will grasp his chance with both hands and shock a few folks.

You would SS!!

COME ON LEIGH FLIPPING ADAMS  :approve:

Be good to see Mr Nice Guy on top -could be his last serious chance. I'm going for a Jason-Leigh quinella, any order. Jason is deadly serious about defending his title, having felt he let himself down not holding on in 05.

Crump is the favourite for me.  I would say the only other title contenders are (in ranking order) Pedersen, Andersen and Jonsson.  To my mind these are the only riders who can live with Crumpy at his best, provided they are at their best.  The challenge for them is to be consistently brilliant, as Crumpy was last year.

Nicki is as hungry as can be and seems to be over his arm problems.  When he is at his best he is more than a match for anyone.  Andersen is also top notch, but unlike last year, people will be looking out for him to perform.  Will he handle the extra pressure? Maybe.  Jonsson is an awesome talent who has taken longer that what he should have to reach this level, but last year there were signs he is now ready to really mix it.  A dark horse who could do what Nicki did in 2003.

Adams and Hancock will be up there just because they are consistent, but neither has the absolute brilliance to better Crumpy.  Scottie, Hampel, Lindback to be decent spoilers.

The World Championship is only a 4 man race plain and simple it is againest 2 aussies and 2 danes.

Jason Crump is the Worlds Number 1 rider and he will be the firm favourite but he want have it all his own way. Leigh Adams will be really pushing hard this year i was lucky enough 2 see him beat Crumpy in 2 rounds of the Aussie title fair and Square and also he beat him at Jason Lyons testimonial. Im not saying LEigh will win it but he is differently guna give it a huge shake. Hans Andersen is though the form rider in World Speedway at the moment and will be very hard 2 beat he is all class he reminds me a bit like Hans Nielsen on the bike.

LAst but not list Nicki Pedersen is also up there just because of how hard and determined he is to win the title back he is usper fast and tough enough to take it off Crump, Andersen and Adams

and maybe Greg is just going a tad past that hunger.

Be aware that Greg is still very, very hungry for another title.

Okay, its 10 years since he won it but despite a few set backs in recent weeks, he remains positive and confident. His league scores can be misleading as he is perhaps the ultimate team man but he has still beaten pretty well every other GP rider already this year.

Jason has admitted to a few glitches so far but is another who can step his game up for the big night. When I look at the likes of Andersen or Nicki P, I cant help but feel that despite being very quick, they are flat out all the time and dont have too much in reserve. AJ hasnt shown enough consistency in recent years and it looks like Lindback could disappear of the radar at any time.

The Bomber could upset a few people at times as could Zagar. Matej went round Reading in under 60 secs on Monday night in heat 12 (I think), which is unheard of for that late in the meeting. The Grin did absolutely bury him in heat 15 though...

I just hope we get some good racing and whoever wins does so on merit.

Come on Greg!! 10 years on... i can just see the speedway star front cover now... :D

But agreed...in my opinion its between Hans Nicki Jason Greg and possibly Leigh Adams...possibly AJ...

Lindback was too inconsitant for me last year....scotty will really really have to wake up to make any kind of impression... do it for the kid scotty! But on a good day i wouldnt knock him...he did after all come second in lonigo last year!

Bomber...will need this year to get into the level of the gps i think... but he could be a spoiler in some meetings i feel... hes got the talent...

The others im yet to make my mind up on!

This is a whole new year after all....anything can happen.... bring it on!!! :approve::D

Andersen and Pedersen are possibly the only two capable of stopping JC winning again, but they need to be more consistant as JC will reach at least 8/11 finals and finish on at least 6 rostrums this year.

There would be a nice symmetry to Greg winning 10 years on. But, hungry or not, I think any World Championships winning days are now past for both him and Leigh Adams. Greg did well to finish 2nd last year, but he never looked like challenging Crumpy at all. And would he have finished 2nd had Nicki Ped not had fitness problems and Andersen been in from the start? I have my doubts..

As for Leigh Adams, anyone who thinks he can still win it, has their head in the sand. Great rider and a superb man to have in your league team, but at the highest level he simply doesn't have the necessary fire. Surely that's obvious by now? Crump is rightfully hot favourite, Nicki is the most likely challenger (there's no doubt in my mind that he will win it again one year), Andersen also a contender and AJ the dark horse. The rest? As someone once said...."Nooooooo chance!"

I think many of the riders can deny JC the title by beating him along the way thereby denying him points that others will gain but I think there is only one other good enough who has the same do or die mentality who can win overall.

Niki Pedersen

And don't forget a rider can win every GP this time and someone else can still become world champion. Unlikely I know but it is possible. :D

Im putting my money on Bjarne, not sure he will be first but reckon he will be a good each way bet, plus hes better odds than the top riders. I think Lindback will do well at lonigo so at 33/1 will go for him for tonight. Not that im a gambler or anything.

Marron, see http://www.speedwayworld.tv/en/news/a7292

Basically they've simplified it. The normal racepoints (3,2,1,0) from each semi are added to what riders have already scored. in the final, the riders get double points (6,4,2,0) added to their accumulated scores

:)
