Wolbert, Jonsson, Okoniewski (ef) - 3:2 (43:46) - - - - - A great match, lots of '5-1 kick answers'. The stadium totally overcrowded, people sitting/standing everywhere - trees, ad banners, ticket booths etc. - truly amazing. But tho' I have some mates in ZG and I have a great respect for shows made by their Net Fans, I think that brutishness should be eradicated anywhere and I must write a few words about a scandal that happened in the end of this great speedway event. In the heat 15 PePe tried to overtake AJ from the inside but bumped Swede's bike and caused his own fall crashing with Lidgren while heading towards the fence (must say it was very like PePe ). Anyway, PePe's fault undoubtedly and he was excluded. After a while riders rode out for the re-run and then the madness started. AJ was literally bombarded by bottles and beer cans aimed at him (everything was accurately shown on telly).. IMO the heat should be cancelled and 5-0 given for Bydgoszcz (the match had been already decided). The ref decided to carry on depite some sh!t lying at the track. Fortunately nothing flew towards the riders during the ride. Once the match finished some drunken idiots jumped over the fence and started running around the track, heading for the cage with Bydgoszcz fans. After a short exchange of courtesies ZG f..kers started throwing stones, pieces of plastic seats (anything really) to Bydgoszcz fans closed in the cage. Of course security guards decided not to react and stay in their positions with pants full of crap. The situation was quite serious. Among the fans there were some women and kids. One guy was hit in his head and taken to hospital later on. Some of my mates (including girls - maybe that's why I'm so p!ssed off) came home slightly bruised too (there were about 80 fans from Bydgoszcz).. As the security guards seemed to be more scared than kids they decided to call the riot police - the so called "white helmets". The police arrived after a really long while (why am I not surprised..?) and chased local f..kers away catching only one of them (the slowest runner I guess). Why couldn't they just have some fun and shoot those pieces of crap down? (alright, using rubber shell..) It's all a huge scandal and Zielona Gora club should be fined with serious financial panalties. I'd even close their country stadium. I know it was only a group of drunken idiots from about 12-thousand crowd but if we wanna fight against such situations (well known from football leagues) the panalties have to be imposed! It is a scandal that an Ekstraliga club cannot assure protection for a group of about 80 fans located in one place called "the cage".. On the telly they said that Zielona Gora are going to aspire to SGP organisation at their stadium.. Was it a joke or what..?! Summing up - Zielona Gora, thank you for providing us 2 league points, now you can go back the Division 1 or 2 where your place is. PS Sorry Tommy but I'm really p!ssed off and would also be if such things happened here in Bydgoszcz. Hopefully they won't. AJ didn't seem to have a great will to fight after being hit by some cans (but have to agree that Wolbert did quite a good impression generally ). Actually, if I were Andreas I'd do an honour lap showing my arse to local fans (just like Crump did at SWC in Wroclaw some years ago). Subedei
So, a couple of clubs, Leszno and Rzeszow, made use of the new double points Tactical Ride. And on both occasions they produced good heat advantages. Nicki P starts the season with a 21 point maximum, while the only other maximum man was Torun's Karol Zabik, with 13+2, including inflicting the only defeat of the afternoon on Adams. But would the biggest surprise be Peter Ljung's splendid 12+2 for Tarnow? Edited April 9, 2007 by Subedei

Mateusz
Stunning attendance at all Ekstraliga matches. I guess that mostly because of the fact it was the first round and fans were really starved of speedway. Anyway, worth noting: Zielona Gora v Bydgoszcz - 12'000 (overcrowding) Torun v Leszno - 12'000 Tarnow v Wroclaw - 15'000 Czestochowa v Rzeszow - 13'500 It's much more than most Polish clubs of our Football Ekstraklasa get at their sh!tie matches. I hope that fools from Warsaw = Polish public tv (who are famous for their ignorance to speedway) might check these figures sometimes.. Do You think they will change their minds about speedway?? Come on Mateusz. Their ignorance about speedway is unbelieveable... HenryW
Thanks for the info Matt and Subedei. It does seem that Zielona Gora have a serious issue with their fans. I've only seen or heard about a few of their matches and every single one has had some crowd trouble.....Maybe, as you suggest, being forced to race one or two meetings in an empty stadium would help to calm the situation but it seems that this has to be a last resort. Unfortunately, such an action would actually only hurt the real fans, and I am sure there are many, and the hooligans would find somewhere else to have a punch-up while they couldn't go to the speedway..... As for your troubles with national media....I'm sure everyone in the UK can sympathise with this. It sounds like the sport gets the same sort of attention from your Capital's media as we do here in the UK.....Admittedly, speedway doesn't out-do football for fans here, but Newspapers and TV news would prefer to cover cricket and snooker matches with a few hundred fans rather than the speedway matches with several thousand fans..... Just in case anyone is wondering about the lower leagues in Poland....The great Denis Gizatullin racked up 11 away from home today
Lawrence
Zielona Gora fans punished!!! According to PAP [Polish Press Agency]: "The Zielona Gora fan, who gave an insulting gesture into Bydgoszcz fans direction, was convicted no stadium entry for 2 years, and 750 pln to pay the fine. the incident was on Sunday during Extraleague match Zielona Gora vs Bydgoszcz. 23-year old man, got into the grass, took off the trousers and made obscene gesture into Bydgoszcz fans direction. The man stood the 24 hours trial on Monday. Also, two pseudofans were punished for hooligan`s behaviour during the match. they were punished by 500 pln fine. After the match, a group pseudofans entered the grass and they thrown a lot of stones into Bydgoszcz fans direction. One of Bydgoszcz fans was hit by the stone and he went to the hospital. The Zielona Gora Police analyses video material to estabilish the man who dropped the stone and the other pseudofans involved into riots..."
