wjm
Someone feel free to correct my frightening naivety, but how much "tactics" are involved in the World Cup? You pick five riders, who to all intents and purpose pick themselves, you decide on an order and you send them out. If you need to "motivate" any of these riders to represent their country in the World Cup, then I'd suggest you've picked the wrong rider. Maybe I'm under egging it a little bit, but come on! Personally, I think Neil Middleditch does an acceptable job with the riders he has available. Before castrating Middlo, or indeed naming a successor, I would ask "what would you do differently?". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Best post on this thread by a mile. SCB
Then if you say someone can do a better job name them?. I don't dislike Middlo, I just think there's better options (named them loads of times, look back). If you really want a name, Tim Sugar, if you want another Colin Pratt who has won2 national titles in the last 2 seasons and unlike Middlo, he also picks the team. Probably every year, thats not good enough really, you can accept a mistake every few years but at the highest level you need someone who doesn't get it wrong. but i defiy you to tell me that nobody else wouldn't make any mistakes!!. Did you try hard to ignore everything I had posted and just reply to it randomly? Because you did a bloody good job of asking me questions I had already answered!! Someone feel free to correct my frightening naivety, but how much "tactics" are involved in the World Cup? Lee Richardson for a joker ride last year? Keeping Louis in his heta when he was off gate 3, by far the best despite having the use of a tac sub. Shocking! Thatw as just last season. I wo't condemn him for Steads performance as most people wold have used him but why bring in Louis? After all Middlos crap about youngsters shoudl be moving up, give them a chance blah blah blah and he goes and drops Stead from the team!! He's a walking contradiction. As I have point out, I don't dislike Middlo, I just don't believe he is the best man for the job, he makes howlers with the jokers and tac subs every year, now compare to say Neil Street who was always spot on with his tactics (when he was ever in a position to use them), he was replaced recently becaquse they realised he was not the best option available any more! Deano
but how much "tactics" are involved in the World Cup? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There are probably a lot more than we take for granted. I don't think the riders choose themselves neither, they more than likely go for the reliable options. I'm sure other than the current crop of GP riders from GB, there are several of similar ability that could fit into the team.
