BOBBATH
I'm sure many of you know about this site already but its absolutely tremendous- I was directed there thru a posting on this forum. I think one of the Forum members directs it. Well its great- I've just seen Tommy Price win the 1949 WF and about 5 minutes of the Halifax v Hanley meeting of 1949-was able to pick out Arthur Forrest and Ken Adams. This is a wonderful site and thanx to whoever put it together.

This blog is something I've meaning to get around to for a long time but have always found it incredibly time-consuming. I do intend to upload allsorts of other videos etc in the future as I have built up a huge collection of evreything from books to mags to tens of thousands of programmes and thousands of photos... all of which I have been digitising for posterity... it may take some time but I do hope people get somthing from it's development Cheers Carl
BOBBATH
No question Carl-good for you- and I'm sure many people feel the same way-these historical items should be saved. I've watched the Halifax/Hanley clip several times-trying to pick out other riders. Another really interesting aspect is to see how the spectators dressed and acted-clearly people dressed more formally then. Perhaps a more simple time?? Although on reflection we all had worries about stuff even then-but perhaps different worries. What a great site.

TwoMinuteWarning
Umm, am I being incredibly dim ( ) but have we actually been told what the address of this site is..??!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Err ... I'm not going to answer that ... but look under the signature on speedwayondisc's postings! Or, go to http://speedwayondisc.blogspot.com/ Have to agree, this is a superb collection of clips, thanks to Carl for sharing them with us. The collection of clips at rapidshare is especially good, but there is a lot of them, so ideally you will need a rapidshare account. (6.99 Euros for a month - about £5) I like Carl's comment on the site that "New converts to the speedway cause may be totally unaware that Andy Smith used to be a very good speedway rider ..." Or, go to http://speedwayondisc.blogspot.com/ Thanks Brian. But I think I'll take back my admission of being dim. There was virtually no clue as to the site being referred to until you provided this info..!! See you in the Rye House PH before the meeting on Easter Monday..?? D.
