Peter Juul? Whos he?

Dickie's bro' perhaps?

So, will it be Craig announced on Thursday or our 2nd reserve? Interesting that Wato wasn't at the training school on Sunday for the last session, and so far isn't named for the Prince of Wales Trophy or for the Welsh Open after the GP. Perhaps he and Tim are further apart in their negotiations than we think. Thursday should prove to be very interesting. I personally hope, like all Newport fans, that he and Tim can strike a deal and Craig is named as our number 1 and put all the nonsense to bed.

Do you think anyone is going to be putting bets on this meeting, because at the moment I'd stake my house on a David Howe win

House kept.

Well done to David and congratulations to Nick Simmons for an excellent afternoon and a place in the final after Jason Doyle missed out in his last qualifying ride.

Paltry crowd though today, 300 at the absolute most. There was a short shower after heat 1 and most headed for the stand but it was dry after that. 25 people on the back straight and a couple on 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th bends. Don't know if it was the field quality, weather or reaction to Craig leaving Newport but pretty desperate all the same. Tim must surely hope for more through the turnstiles for team meetings.

Tom Hedley was there but didn't have Motorcycling Australia's permission to race, he was due to have a skid after the meeting but couldn't start his bike!

Nick Simmons was the surprise packet and, seeing as he will be one of our reserves, could do really well for us in that position.

The rest of our side was very up and down, mostly down. Chris Schramm only showed glimpses of form, Tony Atkin was beaten by Sam Hurst (no, that was not a misprint) and Phil Morris will have to improve to show heat leader form.

As young Mr Blair was heralded into Downing Street........."thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiings, can only get better............." We better hope they do otherwise it could be a dire season for Newport Speedway.
