My old Master System, thats a computer for you relaly young people and it's a cross betwen a Playstatsion and an attari or amega for you really old people! Afraid it's the Atari for me then being one of the really old people. I've still got one too and loads of games. Can't beat the old Space Invaders, Q Bert and Keystone Kapers etc. You're right Bee that tune does sound like The Archers.

Guest Sir Lunchalot
I finally asked my dad !! He suggested "Post Horn Gallop" and said at nearly 80 his memory was good and he remembered the tune but he couldn't remember whether it was the march out tune for Leicester City FC or the speedway !!! Thought I'd throw it in for what it's worth. It can be heard here http://www.bath.ac.uk/~cessrcd/links.htm which sure enough is a Leicester City FC related website !!! Does my dad get the million quid if he's right ? (Hope he does, I'm in the will)
Gemini
Does my dad get the million quid if he's right ? Hard luck - he's not right. More likely Leicester City Football team's signature tune. I don't really know because I've only ever been once about 40 years ago, but they are called The Foxes so it would be appropriate. They might have played it at the beginning of the Hunters meetings of course, but I don't remember it being the marching out tune in the 60's. Back to the drawing board again then. :-(
Guest bluesboyfil
Hello everybody. i'm phil. I was on the forum last year for a little while but just got to busy. I would like to thank LT for the video he gave to me last year(speedway) as this is the first time i have had to get on the forum. This tune the Lions walked out to was it something by Souza, I don;t know... Thanks Fil
Gemini
Hi Phil (# Name Removed # was it?) Welcome back and I hope you can stick around this time. If you want to send Lt a personal message of thanks you can via his email address on the forum - just click on the email bit on his post on page one and Bob's your uncle. Better be pretty smartish though because I think he is going on holiday soon. Typical of him to leave us in the lurch, humming different marching tunes while he clears off to a sunny country somewhere.

Guest Sir Lunchalot
Back to the drawing board again then. :-( Update Had a later ring from my dad and after putting down the phone to me the first time he said he had a think and he was sure the Post Horn Gallop was the Leicester City FC tune. For try number .... (what try was I up to ?) he said try Anchors Away (Aweigh) http://www.chinfo.navy.mil/navpalib/tradit...ic/anchor1.html If that's not it I give up !!!
norbold
try Anchors Away (Aweigh) Is this because of Leicester's close proximity to the sea?
Gemini
Hi Gemini Thanks for your welcome. ( it's Crouch,) but what's an er between friend's. Oh. Well....close enough! That was pretty good for me because I find it hard to remember anything with the limited amount of brain cells I've got left. No, I'm not involved with the Supporters Club. I'm one of those strange quiet, shy people who doesn't really like social events. I never used to like going to my own parties when I was a child and I've not really changed much. AdamLoweSpeedway
Hi All, Thanks for your response and don't worry, it's not just you guys thats getting annoyed with this tune, most of Leicester is with you!! We have been told that it is called "The North March" but at the minute we are having difficulties in finding it.
Gemini
Hi Adam and thanks very much for coming back as we are all getting increasingly frustrated on here. Never heard of The North March, but perhaps Sir L will be able to help as he seems able to find an endless list of tunes. Please let us know on here if you find out. Guest Sir Lunchalot
Gees the things I do for you Gemini !! I couldn't find "The North March" but I could find something called "Cock o' The North March" , that might be it ? Here's one site with it on http://www.diggerhistory.info/sound/sample...7rar-sample.wav (and if that isn't it I'll just keep on humming it and sod the title)
shazzybird
Fantastic thread had me laughing all the way with your comments, well done Sir Lunchy, Gemini, LT and all the other contributors
Gemini
Glad you are enjoying it Shazzy. I don't think we are! Can't believe it's that one Sir L. Perhaps for Glasgow or Edinburgh but not for us Sassenachs. Enjoyed the music though and again my imagination has run riot visualizing the track staff marching - more like hop, skip and jumping - out to that. jackofdiamonds
Come on eveyone, the suspense is killing Personally, I think it could have been Wheels as mentioned at the begining. This was a cha-cha cha, doo doo do do dodo do dodo do cha cha cha!
Guest Sir Lunchalot
On thinking back Wheels wasn't the "marching out music" .. it might have been the track grading or interval music though. What's killng me is how people "post and run" on this thread and leave me in suspense !! (where are you Liontamer, I need to know if any of those tunes ring a bell !!)
