Scott0311
Is anyone staying in Dusseldorf? If so, what hotel? Never been to the place so don't know the best place to stay. Don't want to pay a fortune though! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Staying in the Dusseldorf Mitte, close to station and flash your room keycard and you get free use of the local transport which (so I have been told) includes the train to Gelsenkirchen. Ticnic
Just a little piece of info for all wishing to stay in Dusseldorf. Have just read on the BBC's website that the reformed group The Police will be touring in the autumn and are to have a concert in Dusseldorf on the 13 Oct. So if you are planning on staying there I suggest that you book you hotels ASAP or try somewhere else!

Ali C
How much? Can get a pair of return flights for a little over £50 Now just been somewhere to stay, any suggestions people? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For some reason we seem to get hit hard with taxes for flying out of Scottish airports. It's the same with a 2 week package holiday with one of major travel agents. We sometimes end up having to pay up to £50 each in flight supplements. We're staying at the Mitte in Dusseldorf also. And the hotel has confirmed that their travel card gives us free travel to Gelsenkirchen.
sjw ministerofport
We chose Essen as it only a short distance from Gelsenkirchen, so we would get back to the hotel - Mercure (chosen as it has a bar!!) and do a little bit of drinking!! It also has a pool!! But there is still time for this to change!! Speigal - Im not worried about parking in Essen - I was wondering what the parking is like in Gelsenkirchen around the stadium. Sorry if I confuzzled you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We are still staying at Essen, it's just a matter of getting back from Glensenkirchen, not far in a taxi. I would imagine we will be having a drink or two around the stadium on GP night.

It says 17,00hrs on the ticket website but that seems a lot earlier than the normal GP start times and Iam assuming thats C.E.T which would make it 16,00hrs GMT. Can anyone clarify? woody-the-bee
I went to Gelsenkirchen for the World Cup last summer. Have to agree that the town itself is quite poor. We stayed in Essen, much nicer and more to do/see.
