weymouth wildcats ltd
The Weymouth Wildcats much anticipated return to action kicks off with the opening meeting of the USA Dream Team Tour on Friday 6th April. This will be the Dream Teams’ second visit to the Wessex Stadium. In 2005 the USA youngsters went down 56-37 to a strong Wildcats side in a meeting full of thrills and spills which saw Lewis Bridger make his debut scoring a paid maximum. The 2007 team is to be captained by Tim Gomez, a rider who will be making his third Dream Team tour to Britain and who scored an impressive 12 points at Weymouth in 2005. The newly appointed skipper, who is just 18 years old, admitted “This is way cool. I am already on a mission to prove myself this year after my injuries from last year and this will make me even more focused. We have a great team for 2007 and I am proud to be the captain of the team.” Two riders also returning to the Wessex Stadium are brothers Dale and Neil Faccini who hail from South California. Dale was awarded Most Improved Rider during last year’s tour and Neil is the 2006 USA/AMA Speedway Under 21 National Champion. One rider that impressed during the 2005 campaign was 20 year old Chris Kerr who has gone on to ride in the Premier League with the Redcar Bears. Phil Bartlett Wildcats Director added “This is a great opportunity to see the stars of the future from the USA. These lads will be hoping to follow in the tyre tracks of such greats as Bruce Penhall, Kelly Moran, Sam Ermolenko and Greg Hancock and this is a fantastic opportunity to watch them at the start of their careers”.
