Guest
Slightly disappointing crowd size, but a very entertaining meeting. The final 4 all fully deserved to be there, although King was unlucky with an e/f whilst well placed in his last ride. Bridger can have no complaints after being excluded in the semi (yes, this is being written by an Eagles fan!). So Kennett deserved it, Lawson battled all night for 2nd & Barker looked really promising........but........ Tai Woffinden - has got to be the most naturally gifted rider I think I've ever seen. (Reminded me of Gundersen/Louis/Carter). I reckon they'll be flashing the cheque books in the British Final.
Highlander
Well done William. You've done Scotland proud. So much so that I won't object if you don't try to hard against the Tigers this afternoon, after all you've earned a rest

Sir Ted
Tai Woffinden - has got to be the most naturally gifted rider I think I've ever seen. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree whole heartedly with that. As a measure of comparison between Tai and Eddie at an early stage of their careers, Eddie had many races over more than one season in the conference league around the Rye. Eddie still holds the Conference League track record of 57.0. Tai after only a handful of outings at Hoddesdon shattered that 57.0 second mark in a Premier League match this season. This is maybe a rough and ready measure but for anyone out there who hasn't seen Tai race I recommend they do so. Eddie is clearly a better rider when directly compared now but of course age and experience is a massive factor. As a Rye fan I just feel that we are privileged to see Tai in Rockets colours albeit as seems likely for one season only. Anyway, well done Eddie on the win. seanisnumber1
Can't wait till Tai comes to Sheffield that should be very interesting when racing Compo and Ashworth!! Well done to the 6 boys who have qualified for the World rounds..whats the betting Kennett and Woffy get into the world round at Rye House!! BossMan
Meeting was great but ...................................... Delayed due to faulty start gate. Due to start at 7.30 finished 11pm + 2hr drive home at work 8am chuffed! The ref did his best to ruin the meeting. Tai and Lewis had a hand bag fight. BobC
Scorers: Bowen 3,Glanz(winner of the race off)3,Barker 12,King 11,Kennett 14,Auty 1,Courtney 4,Roynon 9,Woffinden 12,Smart 4,Wright 5,Wilson 7,Bridger 12,Boxall 8,Baseby 3,Lawson 10. Wuffy was excellent.Very good effort indeed.I thought he deserved to finish second,he was riding that well. Kennett was superb.Apart from missing the gate in ht15,when Lawson beat him,he was in complete control throughout.Barker surprised me,but was in the Final by right,on countback. Bridger 'spat the dummy',not once but twice. His arrogance is beginning to annoy people. In ht15 he was leading when Auty f/x.Leading again, when Wilson f/x,with Barker clipping Wilsons bike, and needing attention. In the rerun,Barker gated, which seemed to upset Bridger.I dont think he was expecting it at all, judging from his body language. At the end if the race,he got very stroppy, storming off in a huff. In the Semi Final,he tried an inside lunge on Wuffy, coming out of turn two,and sent him sprawling.Deservedly excluded. He then looked perplexed when Wuffy shoved him away!Stopped next to Wuffy a second time, and they nearly came to blows.Bridger is very talented, but needs to control his emotions on track.Again, storming back to the pits in a huff.Soundly booed by all but the Eastbourne faithful.I know he is still a 'boy',but hes already getting a reputation for sulking.I would accept this,if he hadnt caused any of it,but it was all of his own making. Had to feel sorry for James Wright, leading twice, and throwing a chain on both occasions.Almost certainly been in the mix at the end otherwise. Enjoyable nights racing, although quite why we were still racing at 11pm,I dont know.I know we had a delay while they installed a new starting gate, but this was testing most peoples patience. Many Congratulations to Ed Kennett,a thoroughly deserving wineer.
Steve Shovlar
Well done to Eddie. Coming on leaps and bounds this year and although the favourite to win last night, he still had to do it and how many times have we seen a favourite fail in an event like this? However, this event is THE UNDER 21 BRITISH FINAL, so what was an Aussie doing in it? Tai Woffenden has gone on record saying he wants to be classed as an Aussie, so he should have been booted straight out and replaced by a young Brit. Yet again a Briish rider loses a final spot because of a foriegner. If Woffenden said he wants to be a Brit, then fair enough, but as he hasn't, he should have been refused entry to this competition. godmother
Have to agree with Mr Shovlar on the Tai topic. If he's an Aussie then why is he in the British Under 21? I have seen Tai ride and was very impressed. A naturally gifted and extremely talented lad. Whichever team has the good fortune to have him as a member will enjoy some memorable racing. What a pity he decided to be an Aussie. Well done Eddie and William.
