frigbo
All this squabbling, when it was quite clear that Lee Richardson should have been given the Wildcard slot. Quite a reasonable meeting tonight, refreshing to see the old fogeys struggling (Screen, Louis, Havelock) and some good performances from the new brigade, Kennett really does seem to have the world at his feet if he continues to develop as he is. One last observation, how poor is Simon Stead??!!, why is he constantly lauded as a big hope for England??
Old Saint
If Nicholls was so disappointed with third place then perhaps he shouldn't have used the meeting as an engine testing session <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Genuinely not wanting to try to score points or put anyone down but does that not sound like quite a convenient excuse? lupus
Steveie boy - So you're judging David on one meeting round Poole?.....Kennett rode for Eastie earlier in the season at Monmore and who did he beat?....He beat DAVID in one ride and other than that he beat Piper, Karlsson (M) and Lawson! Not exactly 'world beating' is it! Edited June 4, 2007 by lupus

JJ
there aint gonna be a fair track most have ridden at pl level and would know the crack on some of them, it's not davids fault he rode well and he is at cardiff on merit. Bloody old moaning buggers in here at times. It's the authorities that pick the venue the riders just ride. I agree it should be held at a neutral track but hey the track was the same for all riders tonight....... we have all heard that alot over the years. BritPete
Harris is the new Loram, Nicholls, good but not good enough. David Howe will be at Cardiff, and he deserves to be!
kristaltips
Well done to all the riders in the final tonight. But out of interest what age is Howe?
lupus
As David pointed out on TV tonight - almost all of the Brits ride Monmore well (GT Ricahrdson being the obvious exception! ) so it's nonsense to claim that David's advantage was as great as some would like to believe! stuart road
thank god most riders are more gracious in defeat than some of you supporters. the rules were set howe won fair and square, and good luck to him. ed kennett will have his day,and hopefully many more
lupus
Well done to all the riders in the final tonight. But out of interest what age is Howe? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 25 I think! He's been riding for so long it's hard to remember....he's not much older than that anyway! Edited to Add: Date of birth 1st March 1982....so I was right he's still only 25! 847084
Fairly sure David is 24. possibly 25. He went EL at a very young age. has stuck at it and tonight got some reward. Still he gets stick. Why? (Cue predictable small minded responses.) Edited June 4, 2007 by 847084
Ericd22b
Well Done Bomber and well done to David Howe weather he won it on home advantage or not still had to race and we will see how good he is At Cardiff when he meets the best. kristaltips
25 I think! He's been rding for so long it's hard to remember....he's not much older than that anyway! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks Lupus. Eddie is only 20 so has plenty of years left to make his mark his time will come. Howe has had more years experience under his belt.
Chris
Well done Ed. Has proved that he is going to be our top man for the next ten years at least. How anyone can doubt a kid with so much natural ability on a motorcycle is beyond belief. Still we've seen on this thread and over the years on the forum that there is alot of envy and resentment towards Edward. He will win Britrish finals in his career so plenty of time left. He'll ride in loads of GP's as well so he'll just have to wait a year. Still only 20. Comparing Howe and Ed is like comparing night and day and Ed won't be judging his career on competeing with a David Howe. Won't knock David as he has done well this year, but of course home advantage played a part. To suggest otherwise is wrong, but fair play to David. As said in terms of ability and where they will each be in terms of riding at the top level then there won't be a comparison in future years. Edward will challenge at the very top in the next few years, whereas David won't be anywhere near that sort of level. Well done to Bomber. Has really come on this season. Nicholls looks awful at the mo and even if wasn't "supposedly" testing wouldn't have won it. I don't think he likes the spotlight being off him. The ego demands it. Stead continues to impress no one and the less said of Rico the better. Looks as though Ed has confirmed his WC place. Or will Olly be the better choice? Ben Wilson continues to be laughable around the small tracks.
newbieoldboy
Well done Chris deserving British Champion. Well done David third Brit in the Aves Home and AWAY and third Brit in Cardiff Unlucky to Ed, Olley and Daniel.
PhilK
King's Lynn or even Sheffield may have been a good shout actually Jirout. Looking down tonights line up Arena and Reading apart every other track in the EL was represented, and I suppose if you really wanted to get ridiculous you could discount Arena because Havvy used to ride ther eand go on and on and on... Here's an idea why not say well done David Howe for finishing second and claiming his place in the GP.... Kennetts day will surely come and soon, he is one of the most improved riders around, I thought the Poole fans were a fairminded lot, obviously a few exceptions tonight! Bagpuss
Looks as though Ed has confirmed his WC place. Or will Olly be the better choice? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Would pick them both on tonight's evidence.
BigFatDave
probably if it wasnt so difficult for young aussies to come over and get a team place with a high average then they wouldnt use the *lupehole*. yes, we want the brits, but other nationalities have to earn a living too. i doubt many aussie fans moaned when scotty was in their aussie championship in the winter in the end, i'll be supporting tai tonight, i think hes got natural talent, and have thought that since i first saw him last year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yer absolutely right, Stargirl91. Scotty rode his guts out down here but machinery problems etc plus Oz's wierd array of tracks put both him and Simon (Crash through or Crash) Stead at a disadvantage. In addition he was a tireless ambassador for the sport - no fan request was refused; no question too banal; I lost count of the number of Photos he posed for with starry-eyed kids. As for this on-going debate about Tai Wuffy's nationality - give it a rest youse mob! I've attempted to stay out of this one because of perceived bias on my part, but some of the Xenophobic Posts I've seen on the forum beggar belief! Just remember if it wasn't for Aussies you wouldn't even have Speedway!
