BWitcher
I said somewhere on this thread that Howe should win by the proverbial due to the massive home advantage he had, and so it proved. He was on the inside of Eddie so it was always going to be an impossible task, but Eddie gave it his best shot and only just fell short. You are right of course, anywhere else and Eddie would no doubt have breezed it. Still, that's the way it goes. Trouble is now Eddie misses out at Cardiff, where I had no doubt he would have heavily rocked the boat and scored quite well. A real gutter and shame. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Shovlar, Howe beat Kennett in the qualifying, when KENNETT was on the inside. Once again, you are talking utter rubbish. As has been pointed out. Howe is the THIRD highest averaging British rider, so therefore, regardless of tonights meeting he is the deserving rider for the wildcard spot. END OF STORY. And Congratulations to Chris Harris. Excellent performance tonight and a great gate in the final.
superguest
Well done to Bomber. Unlucky Eddie. Enjoy Cardiff David Edited June 4, 2007 by superguest
Guest PanthersChamp06
Bomber deserved it, so well done Howe rode very well aswell as Kennett and both deserve great credit for there peformances. Danny King... not many people have congratulated him, a late call up, a rider said to be overated and will never make it out of a Prem Heatleader... well hes going to Cardiff
stevehone
Woffinden .... Doubt he would have scored a point <{POST_SNAPBACK}> something else we'll have to disagree on
ezekiel
Some people seem determined to take the shine off David Howe's achievement tonight. This is a guy who struggled so badly last season that people were really getting on his back; even at the start of this season he had his fair share of critics. David Howe is one of the better riders to have raced at Foxhall this season, and when you take in to account how he has turned his career around and his performances this season if anyone deserves to be the Wildcard at Cardiff it is him. Congratulations David, have a stormer at Cardiff! P.S. Congratulations to Harris for being the new British Champion, and to Kennett, King and Allen who all impressed me. DanTheMan
yeah well done to Chris, David and Scott, although obviously Scott was dissapointed, but he's missing something, whether it's still mechanical or mental, who knows. Unlucky Edward
GeneralMelchett
Well done to him. Don't think I can say anymore. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Best not to really He is? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So they say Well spotted <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Cheers, I pride myself on my observational abilities. youngy105
Not a bad meeting but not one of the best. Some good races but a lot were over by the end of the first lap. Congrats to Bomber on his win, thoroughly deserved and well done to David Howe for taking the wildcard spot for Cardiff. Good to see the youngsters stepping up to the plate. Kennett rode really well as did Danny King and Olly Allen. Lewis Bridger rode well but again his inexperience showed when he almost took Bomber out. As for the Belle Vue boys....very disappointing. Simon Stead is seriously lacking confidence at the moment and the pressure of being the Aces number 1 is showing. Screenie looked off the pace and I hope his injury isn't too severe. Wrighty just cannot gate for toffee...fine at a big track like Workington where he can come from the back but at places like BV and Wolves he isn't going to do that but he'll have plenty more cracks at becoming British Champion, Hope Tai is ok too. Shadders
Woffinden was all over the place in his only ride and managed to fall twice in three laps. Withdrew because he didn't want to injure the other riders. ( his words) Doubt he would have scored a point judging by what I saw.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didn't see the meeting, so can't comment on the individual performances. I hope Tai has the sense to realise that he'll need at least a couple of years as a full time PL rider before stepping up into the Elite league, if there still is one next year. David Howe rode very well to get in second place and take the Wild Card for Cardiff, so congrats to him as well. Couldn't believe that Scott Nicholls would use a meeting such as this, when he wanted to retain his title, to test a new engine. Very risky thing to do. I still think harris would have won this tonight, he's in great form and looks to be head and shoulders above Nicholls at the moment. (Thought Nicholls was a bad loser, too. ) Very pleased to see the younger guys doing well also. It is looking more promising for team GB in the future. I must also congratulate Eddie Kennett. Thought he rode brilliantly all night and a great achievement to get to the Final. He also gets a reserve spot at Cardiff and a spot in the GP qualifiers. Am sure Eddie is feeling disappointed, but he shouldn't be and his time will surely come.
SCB
Personally I think it was unfair that the wild card rests on 1 meeting it should be judged on the seasons performance so far and i don't mean averages!!<{POST_SNAPBACK}> You make Silver Bee look like a prophet!!! Thats the stuipidest thing I have ever read. What do you suggest? The rider with the nicest bum? Nicest eyes? Liked most by you? If Nicholls was so disappointed with third place then perhaps he shouldn't have used the meeting as an engine testing session Typical 2007 Scott TBH! Pretty good first bends which works against the lower riders but too slow for the top guys. You are right of course, anywhere else and Eddie would no doubt have breezed it. Still, that's the way it goes.Coventry, Sheffield, Newport, Oxford, King's Lynn, Lakeside, Belle Vue, ...... Thats "anywhere else" is not looking so good!! So Howe beat him in the final...Is higher than him in the averages.....perhaps Kennett should get through because his dad is harder than HowesWorth quoting, it made me laugh. Thats why we'll probably see him back at Foxhall next year as our number 1.We can but hope! Of the current Coventry top 3, I'd prefer Bomber and Rory be back, as you want Scott, it makes sense you have him Still we've seen on this thread and over the years on the forum that there is alot of envy and resentment towards Edward.Sadly there is. The fact he has a idiot (or two, three....) backing him and making stupid statements won't help. He'll be up there, I've always said it, I stand by that and am more confident than ever now. He IS a joy to watch, he can gate and he can pass, he now seems to be learning the bigger tracks too (look at his Polish scores). His time will come, but it wasn't tonight and the sour grapes from one or two Poole fans is pathetic! The bloke wins his first National Title and a large majority of the crowd are more bothered about congratulating the bloke who came second!Exactly, Well Done Bomber. Once again you were amazing. I do have one complaint, thats this making the gate thing about? A few people were supprised by Ollys score, not me, TBH, I was disapointed he fell as I'm sure he'd have had 3rd and even given the leaders a run for their money, his wide 2nd bend swoops are brilliant
tocha
The best thing about this meeting is that we have reached an era when the older established riders were at last put in their place. Perhaps we are at a time similar to the early 70's whereby stalwarts like the Boococks, Wilson etc. were suceeded by fresh young riders and world beaters such as Collins, Jessup, Morton, Davis and Lee. Is Chris Harris the new Peter Collins? Incidentally, did anyone see the golf tournamount which followed the speedway tonight featuring Dave Jessup
rentaghost
Sorry I cannot congratulate Howe <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Absolutely pathetic
shalefan
Funny you should mention riders from the 70's era. I have been going through the website Youtube over the last few days looking at montains of clips featuring some of the great riders you mention. It got me thinking about the strength of this years British Final compared to yester year. No disrespect to the riders that were at Wolverhampton tonight but I wonder how many would have made the final with the likes of Jessup, Davis, Morton.C, Collins.P & L, Lee, Louis J, Simmo, Carter, Kennett. G, Grahame brothers around (no doubt I have forgotten some names). Harris and Nichols would have been ok and Howe is showing the sort of form this year that would go with that company, not sure about the rest though in truth. I'm sure the likes of young Kennett, Bridger etc will carry on getting better and better. The best thing about this meeting is that we have reached an era when the older established riders were at last put in their place. stuart road
Absolutely pathetic <{POST_SNAPBACK}> pathetic may be a bit harsh, but i agree that when a young british rider, who is a genuinely nice bloke, gets slated at the highest point of his career, just because a meeting was held at his current home track,is very sad. T.N.T.
CHRIS HARRIS - Well Done to bomber on a job done with some fast gates for a change. Bomber is now starting to look the complete article and will grace the GP series for some time to come. I hold my hands up and thought he would struggle in the series but I 'm pleased to say I was wrong. DAVID HOWE - Great riding from David and a fully deserved Cardiff place for him as he continues a great season and performing how we know he can do after some poor form over the last 18 months. Edward Kennett was a deserved finalist and looked good all night while Danny King rode like an EL heat leader rather than a reserve. Great night and a great finish with the all or nothing final which could have gone to any of the 4 riders who all rode well enough to form the 2007 Team GB WTC team. The little Blonde Girl with the yellow board, yeh, i fancied her as well very nice!!. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Josh Auty thinks the same
stevebrum
Gutted for Eddie. Absolutely gutted. Anywhere else and he would be at Cardiff. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Howe deserves it. FULL STOP How assumptive! Howe would have been on it on ANY track . Congratulations to both Chris for being the new British champion, and David for getting the wildcard at Cardiff – both thoroughly deserved. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree to both. BEST 2 riders on show. Sorry I cannot congratulate Howe, he would not have been anywhere near the final if it had been held at any other track in the country! Still, as I am not going to be at Cardiff I don't have to endure any of this! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i agree that this is a pathetic post. we are ALL glad you wont be at cardiff. As for Richardson - the wheels have really come off and on that performance he should not be in the WTC. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> theyve been off for 2 years easily. His onlty saving grace is that his form in the WTC is very good. Id still say NO to him - give it riders in form, nothing to lose, all to gain. And I dispute strongly the assertion that Kennett would beat David on every neutral track. What an absurd and blinkered view. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Me too. totally agree. WELL DONE CHRIS HARRIS - BRITISH CHAMPION. Also the grand assumption he would beat him anywhere, don't make me laugh. I would back David Howe to beat Edward Kennett at Sheffield. Seen em both there....no competition. And once again............... WELL DONE CHRIS HARRIS - BRITISH CHAMPION AND WELL DONE DAVID HOWE ON REACHING CARDIFF <{POST_SNAPBACK}> agreed agreed agreed. Ive already said my personal WELL DONE to Howie and he was VERY EXCITED!!!! He greeted me with `GUESS WHOS GOING TO CARDIFF?` i said yes i KNOW, ive gotta get tickets now!!! Bomber was a deserved champion . He will have my applause at Cardiff too. Thats 2 occassions a BEE will get my support . But for David. The boy has come of age. Can we perhaps all get behind the guy now????
orion
Well howe took his chance and now he's going to cardiff it's just a shame that eddie can't go as well as i think on this seasons form they both should go . With bridger and kennett and also bunyan comeing to the fore the future of uk speedway is looking good . stevehone
Howe has had a much better season than last year but his home scoring is giving his average. He comes to Poole and never gets close to winning a heat. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well i saw Howe live on tv last week beat 4 of last nights competitors, 3 of them on their own track, and i was also at Peterborough to see him beat a couple more on their own track last thursday. i think that might have been 'away' scoring, but could be wrong i spose. just because you see someone ride not so well at your track, doesn't mean that he's like it everywhere. if that was the case, all Kings Lynn fans would be wondering how Kennett made it to the final in the first place
