orion
My so called "rants" have nothing to do with the rider himself, other than the fact his is taking a British riders berth in a British Final. I also hope he has a successful career, whether he is a Brit or an Aussie. His career and ability has nothing to do with it. But I stand by my post that he shouldn't be riding in the British Final if he wants to ride his career as an Aussie. There are lots of young riders, granted perhaps as not as talented as Woffenden, who would give anything to be riding tonight at Monmore. But their chance has gone because for whatever reason the place has gone to this lad. He has said he wants to be classed as an Australian. Would those defending him on here say the same if Troy Batchelor or Jason Doyle were riding in one of the berths tonight? I don't see much difference. in fact it is worse as he was born in the UK and those two were not. If you think my defending of British places in a British Final is "disgusting" well I am happy I have made you feel that way. I am a true Brit and will defend Brits over any other nationality any day of the year. And am proud to do so. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good post steve woffenden wants to be and is a australian let him be one, he's just useing uk speedway and we might as well have doyle in the line up . Having him in tonights line up is a complete joke .
21st century heathen
How many will remember that according to them, he isn't even British in 2007? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Er...no!!! According to him not us. How many defending him bothered to read the thread properly?! Got nothing against him in the slightest (until he pulls on a Wolves race jacket anyway ). The system is wrong. He's just using it to his benefit.
Rob B
Seriously though, I'm looking forward to the meeting but can't help but wonder how many of them acutally want to ride at Cardiff as wild card. I can understand Howe, Stead, Kennett, King et al having a good go for it, but some of the more 'mature' guys must be thinking about going to Cardiff and enjoying the atmosphere rather than having to worry about racing for no real benefit to themselves? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually Joe Screen said in the Belle Vue programme last week that he has no ambitions to get into the GP series again but he would love to ride at Cardiff as a wildcard. Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere but apart from the the wild card and reserves, is there still about 4-5 places available for the next round of GP qualifying? MrwulfAndrew
Think most peoples sensible money would be on Howie. Have to say tho that stead, kennet will be all out for that spot too. Have a feeling that Screenie could spring a suprise too! top 3 of HARRIS, NICHOLLS, HOWE. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've had 10 quid on howe at 10/1 william hill

Col
Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere but apart from the the wild card and reserves, is there still about 4-5 places available for the next round of GP qualifying? I believe that was the plan. The top 5 guys that want to be in the GP qualifiers get the spots. Whether Nicholls or Harris would take those spots I'm not sure. That's something for the likes of King, Kennett & Wright to aim for, because IMO it's between Howe & Stead for the spot at Cardiff. Richardson the only other one I think could grab it, but his usual Monmore form means it's unlikely.

I know he has said in the past that he considers himself an Aussie but, apart from on here, I've not read anything that has said this is still the case. Maybe the system IS wrong but it is the system NOT Tai who is at fault in that case. He is NOT 'abusing' the system, just using it! Hands up who on here would NOT use a loophole if it were open to them? Edited June 4, 2007 by lupus

London Witch
This has the makings of a good meeting. I nearly always enjoy the Sky meetings from Monmore, so therefore have given up my Monday night out to stay in and watch. So it had better be a good'un. Bomber to win with Simon Stead second to get the Cardiff place because in my opinion he most deserves it and Loobie third! Please!

Guest
I'm sure many will be seeing Tai for the first time tonight. I've only ever seen him at Arlington in the British U21, but IMO he's the most naturally talented rider I've ever seen. Hope that is picked up in front of the cameras, even though he'll probably be well down the scoresheet.
London Witch
Hello Jim , you are absolutely right, thats the most important thing. Good luck to all the riders. Thats a good idea of yours to get the smell as well as the action, all in your own home!

As covered previously... 5 rides each top 2 straight to the final next 4 into last chance semi top two from that join the others in the final. Maybe the system IS wrong but it is the system NOT Tai who is at fault in that case. He is NOT 'abusing' the system, just using it! Hands up who on here would NOT use a loophole if it were open to them? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Here we go again!! I didn't say it was his fault. I didn't say he was abusing the system. In fact I used the same word that you have used. I said he was 'using' the system to his advantage. I didn't say I wouldn't do the same. You are still trying put words in my mouth, and of others. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right, I'm going to be brave and go for a prediction. The points are rough, because I couldn't be bothered to work out who meets who where, and whether it all adds up. Scott - 13 David - 12 Chris H - 10 Simon - 9 Chris L - 8 Joe - 8 Ed - 7 Lee - 6 Olly - 5 Lewis - 5 Tai - 4 Gary - 4 Danny - 3 Richard - 3 James - 2 William - 2 Final David Chris H Scott Chris L I'm torn when I get to the final. I can make a case for any of the top 3 to blow it. I'll go with that lot and see how close I get.
