British Final

Recommended Posts

On the subject of Andre Compton not being ambitious enough to go Elite, what we have got to remember is most of these guy's depend on this sport for their living, so maybe it's not a question of lack of ambition maybe he feels he can make a better living for him and his family plying his trade in the premier rather than the Elite

andre has a successful business outside speedway so does not need to rely on his racing.having said that he would love to do EL in a doubling up capacity but is prevented from doing so by some joke rules dreamt up by the muppet brigade(sub standard foreigners are welcomed with open arms...and cheque books!).therefore he rides in the SWEDISH EL instead!somehow this rules him out of a british final spot!certainly beats me (and andre is dusgusted too!).

Have to say that I am disappointed with No Andre Compton, but there you go there is usually one rider who is gets left out.

If he rode in the EL he might be in. Gotta give those guys that have ambition to ride at the very highest level the chance.

Well looks  like a good camp to be in can't see howe dropping a point on his own track in the form he's in, he only has to turn up to get the wildcard .

Stop winding him up  :P

im not biting!

Daniel King replaces Norris leaving Andre even more unhappy!!

diddums. King in the top flight, compton from the PL. No contest really.

Gary Havelock is Premier league for gods sake just like Compton. But Gary Havelock was asked at the beginning of the season by Chris Van Straten if he would like to be in it. Now if thats not a case of 'If your face fits' then i dont know what is!!!!!!!!

Havelock is STILL capable of doin a job in EL and reprsents his country - plus as ex world champ he should be there!

this is certainly David Howe's best ever chance to win the British final and get a GP wildcard all on his own track.  Kennett is a better rider IMO but I think David will prevail having hometrack advantage.

I agree. I think on ANY track its his best chance particulary on the form he is on. But on his home track i agree its a superb opportunity. But Kennett a better rider? Not yet by any definition.

GOOD LUCK HOWIE

I think one things for certain with this meeting, its going to be entertaining! Chris Harris is my prediction. :)

I agree, harris to win a run off against Nicholls. Howe on the rostrum too.

Regarding the Compton/King situation, if they've given lads like Hall a chance, maybe it's just giving the younger lads a go, rather than Compton who is nothing more than a top PL rider (no disrespect intended there, just saying he's already failed in the EL). As for Havvy getting in, as I said before, former world champion and was still an EL rider, and a competitive one at that, up until Redcar reopened.

I personally hope it's just a safe meeting that's a good advert for the Sky cameras with plenty of racing. A Bomber victory wouldn't go a miss.. I reckon for the wildcard/reserve spots, Kennett, Howe, and Steady although I don't know in which order :P

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if an Elite League club had talked to Andre he may have been riding in the EL but do bear in mind that his previous sojourn into that league got him dumped and replaced by Johnny Foreigner.  You assume far too much.

Why let the facts get in the way of blind ignorance though with these ' so well informed ' people eh Piccolo. God they make me laugh.

Talking of which i find Steve Shovlars rants about Tai Woffinden disgusting and bordering on sick. Leave the lad alone. He just wants to be a successful speedway rider. He can be whatever he wants to be, and i tell you what if it was me reading all this s"*te it would make me err on the side of wanting to be Aussie. You go with the people who treat you better and you feel most at ease with. Good luck to him whatever he does, i just admire him for the talent he has.

Writing off Norris? He's held the track record at Monmore, I'm pretty sure none of the others have ever done that. Though if it is decided by a 'Final' i.e. one race at the end count him out, he tends to fade towards the end of meetings at Monmore usually.

Kennett is or has been way to erratic at Monmore to really have a chance of a rostrum finish and the Wildcard. Nicholls & Stead were both absent when their teams visited Monmore this year while Poole are yet to visit WV2, Kennett did however guest of Eastbounre. Perhaps that will be a factor, I dunno, but the track has been more tightly packed this year than previously, the wide dirt line hasn't developed as it did in previous seasons.

I can only assume this is down to the make up of the Wolves team. PK, Howe, Lindgren & Lawson are all adept at riding the inside line, whereas IMO Hamill (& maybe Magnus Karlsson) has/ve suffered due to the lack of the dirt line developing - Billy has to do all his work form the gate these days. This could IMO benefit Stead who is capable of blowing anyone away early on in a meeting as he proved last year.

My so called "rants" have nothing to do with the rider himself, other than the fact his is taking a British riders berth in a British Final. I also hope he has a successful career, whether he is a Brit or an Aussie. His career and ability has nothing to do with it.

But I stand by my post that he shouldn't be riding in the British Final if he wants to ride his career as an Aussie. There are lots of young riders, granted perhaps as not as talented as Woffenden, who would give anything to be riding tonight at Monmore. But their chance has gone because for whatever reason the place has gone to this lad. He has said he wants to be classed as an Australian. Would those defending him on here say the same if Troy Batchelor or Jason Doyle were riding in one of the berths tonight? I don't see much difference. in fact it is worse as he was born in the UK and those two were not.

If you think my defending of British places in a British Final is "disgusting" well I am happy I have made you feel that way. I am a true Brit and will defend Brits over any other nationality any day of the year. And am proud to do so.

Well, you can add my Kiss of Death to that one. Chris really is the outstanding Brit this season.

If you're near a bookies, put £50 on him being abducted by aliens at about 5pm tonight.
